Cambridge Springs, Mercer Boys Wrap Up Region Titles; Grove City, Farrell Clinch Share of Region Crowns

CAMBRIDGE SPRINGS, Pa. – Parker Schmidt and Josh Reisenauer combined for 45 points as Cambridge Springs wrapped up the Region 3 title with a 71-52 win over Union City.

The Blue Devils went on a 20-10 run in the second quarter to take control, with Reisenauer scoring 12 of his 21 points in the spurt.

Schmidt poured in a game-high 24 points, while Brady Campbell finished with 10.

Josh James had a big second half for Union City, scoring 15 of his 20 points over the final 16 minutes. Wyat Post, Bryce Drayer, and Connor Wingard added eight points each for the Bears.

MERCER 80, GEORGE JUNIOR REPUBLIC 41

                                      

GROVE CITY, Pa. – Mercer wrapped up the Region 2 title by jumping out to a 27-7 lead after the first quarter en route to an 80-41 win over George Junior Republic.

Jake Mattocks scored 18 points to lead the Mustangs, who have won nine-straight, while Bubba Palmer and Ben Godfrey had 11 each.

Daniel Franklin had 16 points to lead GJR.

GROVE CITY 61, GREENVILLE 47

GROVE CITY, Pa. – Grove City outscored Greenville 23-9 in the fourth quarter to pull away for a 61-47 win and clinch at least a share of the Region 5 title.

                          

The Eagles jumped out to a 22-7 lead at the end of the first quarter, but the Trojans came all the way back to tie it at 38-38 after three.

Nathan Greer scored 11 points in the first quarter, then added seven more in the final frame. He finished with a game-high 23. Gavin Lutz and Brett Loughry each had 11 points in the win.

Noah Philson and Mason Vannoy each had 12 points for Greenville.

FARRELL 66, ROCKY GROVE 38

SUGARCREEK BOROUGH, Pa. – Lamont Samuels led a balanced effort with 14 points as Farrell clinched at least a share of the Region 1 title with a 66-38 win over Rocky Grove.

The Steelers outscored the Orioles 38-15 in the second and third quarters.

Nasir O’Kane had 13 points for the Steelers, while Danny Odem had 12.

Evan Wolfgong had eight points and Quinn Ritchey had seven for the Orioles.

FRANKLIN 62, CORRY 40

FRANKLIN, Pa. – Franklin outscored Corry 20-7 in the third quarter to pull away for a 62-40 victory.

                                   

Damon Curry knocked down four 3’s and finished with a game-high 22 points for Franklin, while Jalen Wood had 16, Jonathon Leccia nine, and Cole Buckley eight.

Rylan Smith had 14 points and Markus Lambert 13 for Corry.

FAIRVIEW 62, NORTH EAST 60, overtime

NORTH EAST, Pa. – John Seyboldt scored a career-high 27 points, including a tip-in with three second left in regulation to send the game to overtime as Fairview outlasted North East, 62-60.

Fairview rallied from a 15-point deficit in the first half to earn the win.

Demetrius Crosby’s layup with 31 seconds to go to give North East a 60-59 lead in overtime, but Archie Murphey answered right back with a go-ahead runner with 20 seconds to go for Fairview.

Crosby’s potential game-winner in the lane was off the mark, and Jeremy Frazao was fouled with 1.1 seconds to go and knocked down 1-of-2.

Frazao also had 15 to power Fairview to the win.

SAEGERTOWN 60, MAPLEWOOD 33

GUYS MILLS, Pa. – Zach Yoder led a balanced effort with 17 points as Saegertown earned a 60-33 win over Maplewood.

Henry Shaffer and Brady Greco were also in double figures for Saegertown with 13 and 12 points, respectively.

Cole Dolittle led Maplewood with 11 points, while Jacob Woge added eight.

WARREN 84, TITUSVILLE 48

WARREN, Pa. – In their regular season home finale, Warren had another strong offensive showing in an 84-48 Region 6 win over Franklin.

The Dragons, who scored 33 points in the first quarter in their last game against Conneaut, scored 29 in the first eight minutes against the Rockets and led 54-19 at halftime.

                                  

Owen Becker led the way for Warren with 20 points, one of five Dragons in double figures. Parks Ordiway made his return from injury and scored 11 points.

Becker and Tommy Nyquist got the Dragons going with 10 points each in the first quarter.

Nyquist had 14 points, while Braylon Barnes had 15 and Brady Berdine 13.

Manny Perez pumped in a game-high 26 points for Titusville, while Kasen Neely added 10.

JAMESTOWN 70, COMMODORE PERRY 35

HADLEY, Pa. – Cam Keyser pumped in 29 points to lead Jamestown to a 70-35 win over Commodore Perry.

Keyser scored 17 points in the first half for the Muskies, while Carter Williams added 10 points and Josh Hill eight in the win.

SHARPSVILLE 52, WEST MIDDLESEX 38

WEST MIDDLESEX, Pa. – Sharpsville moved past West Middlesex in the Region 2 standings with a 52-38 win.

West Middlesex led by two at the end of one, but Sharpsville limited the Big Red to just four field goals in the second quarter to take the lead.

Luke Distler led the Blue Devils with 16 points. Luke Staunch added 11 points and Braden Scarvel had nine.

Giovanni Rococi and Richie Preston each had 10 points for West Middlesex.

GENERAL MCLANE 61, FORT LEBOEUF 45

EDINBORO, Pa. – Logan Anderson scored 18 points as General McLane earned a 61-45 win over Fort LeBoeuf.

Carson Papay had 16 points and Ronan Dorler 15 for the Bison.

EISENHOWER 66, COCHRANTON 60

RUSSELL, Pa. – Eisenhower built a big lead, then held off a furious rally to come away with a 66-60 win over Cochranton.

The Knights led 44-28 going into the fourth quarter and scored 22 points in the fourth. Chase Miller and the Cardinals made things interesting in the final eight minutes.

Miller poured in 17 of his game-high 26 points, and Cochranton scored 32 total points, but Eisenhower went 16-26 from the free throw line to close out the win.

Brady Rynd added 10 points for Cochranton.

Wyatt Lookenhouse led a trio of Knights in double figures with 20 points. Kael Hunt dropped in 11 of his 17 points from the charity stripe, including going 7-12 in the fourth quarter. Kris Bunk had 12 points.

ERIE 63, HARBOR CREEK 43

ERIE, Pa. – Jay Smith scored 21 points as Erie powered past Harbor Creek, 63-43.

Nick Krahe had a double-double with 25 points and 10 boards for Harbor Creek.

CATHEDRAL PREP 68, MEADVILLE 33

ERIE, Pa. – Jake Sambuchino scored 20 points as Cathedral Prep beat Meadville, 68-33.

AmareePickens and Semontae Lofton were also in double figures for the Ramblers with 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Jack Burchard had nine points for Meadville.

OIL CITY 64, CONNEAUT 33

LINESVILLE, Pa. – Sayyid Donald scored a career-high 21 points as Oil City powered past Conneaut, 64-33.

Donald also had six steals in the win, while Jake Hornbeck had a strong overall game with 18 points, eight rebounds, eight assists and five steals.

Ethen Knox was also in double figures for the Oilers with 13 points to go along with seven boards.

Alex Brady led CASH with 12 points.

MCDOWELL 68, AUSTINTOWN FITCH (OHIO) 48

ERIE, Pa. – Tyler Grove scored 17 points as McDowell raced pawst Austintown Fitch, 68-48.

Blayze Myers and Stephon Porter were also in double figures for the Trojans with 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Gianni Maley had 18 points for Fitch.

LAKEVIEW 53, REYNOLDS 44

TRANSFER, Pa. – Lakeview jumped out to a 15-4 lead after the first quarter en route to a 53-44 win over Reynolds.

Lucas Fagley pumped in a game-high 24 points for the Sailors, while Cam Pence had 16.

Andrew McCloskey led Reynolds with 13 points, while Haydin McLaughlin added 12.

SHARON 68, WILMINGTON 31

SHARON, Pa. – Lamont Austin scored 18 points as Sharon beat Wilmington, 68-31.

Derek Douglas added 15 points for the Tigers, while Bishop Root finished with nine.

Anthony Reed had 14 points for Wilmington.

GIRARD 77, NORTHWESTERN 30

GIRARD, Pa. – Girard stayed atop the Region 4 standings with a 77-30 win over Northwestern.

Ryan Carr, Dylan McDonald and Alex Henry all had 11 points for the Jackets in the win.

Landon Wayne had eight points for Northwestern.
