Big First Half Sends Franklin Boys Past Titusville; Coull Has Five Goals in Clarion Girls’ Win (Sept. 19 Soccer Recaps)

TITUSVILLE, Pa. – Nate Pfennigwerth scored just 26 seconds into the game as Franklin earned a 6-1 win over Titusville.

Pfennigwerth had two goals in the contest on his way to Allegheny Grille of Foxburg Player of the game honors.

“We came in this game expecting big energy and we brought it,” Pfennigwerth said during the Cole Orthodontic Associates Player of the Game interview. “I was excited to see us score that quick. The team chemistry was there tonight.”

The Rovers scored four goals just over four minutes apart courtesy of Chippy Whitling, Seldon Bean, Pfennigwerth and Spencer Riley.

Alex Umbenhaur had the final goal for Franklin with 2:15 to go in the first half.

Titusville avoided the shutout courtesy of Hudson Fratus’ goal with 7:50 remaining in the game.

                          

CLARION-LIMESTONE 5, BROOKVILLE 0

STRATTANVILLE, Pa. – Nathan Frederick had a hat trick as Clarion-Limestone blanked Brookville, 5-0.

Dany Schweitzer and Wyatt Boyden had one goal each.

Wyatt Boyden, Brendan Bettwy, Thomas Uckert and Aiden Wilson had one assist each.

Isaac Lerch had his fourth shutout of the season for C-L.

GENERAL MCLANE 0, HARBOR CREEK 0, double overtime

EDINBORO, Pa. – General McLane and Harbor Creek battled for 100 minutes to a 0-0 draw in double overtime.

Jonny Kavelish (GM) and Ryan Humphreys (Harbor Creek) had the clean sheets in net.

SLIPPERY ROCK 4, SHARON 1

SHARON, Pa. – Max Kovacik scored a pair of goals as Slippery Rock earned a 4-1 win over Sharon.

                        

Trent Davey and Zach Lasko had the other goals for Slippery Rock, while Kovacik and Nick Olshanski had assists.

Marco Zajac scored for Sharon.

WARREN 4, EISENHOWER 0

RUSSELL, Pa. – Jack Chapman had a hat trick as Warren topped Eisenhower, 4-0.

Trey Carrington had the other goal for the Dragons, who led 2-0 at halftime.

         

Chapman, Carrington and Casey Rich had one assist each for the Dragons.

Adon Maier had the clean sheet in net.

NORTH EAST 9, FORT LEBOEUF 0

WATERFORD, Pa. – Will Vanderweele and Mason Probst scored two goals each as North East beat Fort LeBoeuf, 9-0.

Joel Morey Sam Stanbro, Zach Pondo, Kai Vanderweele and Alex Wilkinson had one goal each.

Will Vanderweele also had three assists.

GROVE CITY 7, CONNEAUT 0

GROVE CITY, Pa. – Jimmy Irani recorded a hat trick to help Grove City to a 7-0 win over Conneaut.

Caleb Baumgartner, Gage Probst and Ben Donnelly also scored for Grove City.

KARNS CITY 4, FOREST AREA 0

KARNS CITY, Pa. – Hanna Dailey had a hat trick as Karns City earned a 4-0 win over Forest Area.

Aubrey Price also had a penalty kick goal for the Gremlins.

Sarah Dodd had two assists and Phoebe Brandon one.

Savana Prescott had the clean sheet in net.

REDBANK VALLEY 3, KANE 0

NEW BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lia Hageter scored a pair of goals as Redbank Valley blanked Kane, 3-0.

Alex Shoemaker had the other goal for Redbank.

Bella Orr and Ava Moore had assists for the Bulldogs.

CLARION 6, BROOKVILLE 2

CLARION, Pa. – Lexi Coull had five goals as Clarion earned a 6-2 win over Brookville.

Alex Leadbetter had the other goal for Clarion.

Leadbetter had two assists, while Coull, Julianna Wilson and Olivia Hannold had one each.

Mercedes Cunningham had a save on a penalty kick for Clarion.
