Base: Bauer Walk-off Single Gives St. Marys Win Over Clearfield; Redbank Valley Pulls Away Late; Brookville Gets Win powered by N. Washington Rodeo

ST. MARYS, Pa. – Lucas Bauer delivered a two-out, two-run walk-off single in the bottom of the seventh to lift St. Marys to a 4-3 win over Clearfield.

It was two-out lightning for the Dutch after Craig Mays retired the first two batters of the inning.

Cayden Vogt and Ben Reynolds were hit with back-to-back pitches, and Tysen Beimel singled to center to load the bases for Bauer, who took a 2-1 pitch from relief pitcher Christian Welker into left field for the game-winning hit.

St. Marys trailed 3-1 going to the sixth but crawled within a run on a Bauer single.

   

                  

Bauer then wiggled out of a jam in the top of the seventh after he hit a batter and walked a batter leading off the inning.

He was 2-for-4 at the plate with three RBIs and got the win going one inning in relief walking one, hitting one, and striking out one.

Reynolds scored three times for the Dutch going 2-for-3.

Ben Paul started and pitched 4 ⅔ innings allowing three runs, two earned, on seven hits and four walks while striking out six. Louie Nedzinski then pitched 1 ⅓ scoreless walking two and striking out one.

Anthony Lopez was 2-for-3 with a double, a walk, and a run scored for Clearfield while Derrick Mikesell went 1-for-3 with a walk and two RBIs. Hayvin Bumbarger also doubled while going 2-for-3 with a walk.

                          

Mays took the loss going 6 ⅔ innings allowing four earned runs on five hits, two walks, and three hit batters while striking out eight.

REDBANK VALLEY 9, A-C VALLEY/UNION 2

RIMERSBURG, Pa. – Up a run going to the seventh, Redbank Valley scored six times in the top of the seventh to beat A-C Valley/Union, 9-2, at Union.

Ty Carrier tossed a strong game on the mound getting the win going six innings allowing two earned runs on two hits and four walks while striking out seven.

               

Jaxson Huffman had a pair of doubles for the Bulldogs going 2-for-4 with a run scored and two RBIs, while Carrier also drove in two runs going 1-for-4 with a walk and a run scored.

Braylon Wagner and Mason Clouse added doubles with Wagner going 2-for-2 with two walks, an RBI, and two runs scored and Mason Clouse going 2-for-5 with two runs scored.

Breckin Minich and Owen Clouse each had multiple hits as well with Minich going 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI and Owen CLouse going 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI.

Sebastian Link pitched well in a losing effort for A-C Valley/Union going six innings allowing three earned runs on six hits and four walks while striking out five.

Redbank Valley, though, tagged the Falcon Knight bullpen for six runs on six hits and a walk in the seventh inning.

Trey Fleming was 1-for-3 with a run scored and Adrian Schmoll was 1-for-3 with an RBI for A-C Valley/Union.

BROOKVILLE 9, CRANBERRY 1

BROOKVILLE, Pa. – Getting four hits, three RBIs, and three runs scored from the bottom third of its lineup, Brookville rolled past visiting Cranberry, 9-1, at McKinley Field in Brookville.

No. 8 hitter Will Shofestall went 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI for the Raiders, while No. 7 hitter Jack Pete was 1-for-3 with a walk, an RBI, and two runs scored. No. 9 hitter Landen Marrara also got in on the act going 1-for-2 with a walk and an RBI.

Brookville took advantage of five walks and seven hit batters to score the nine runs despite only six hits.

            

Ladd Blake added a two-RBI day for the Raiders going 1-for-4, while Sam Krug scored twice.

Blake Marchinke went 2-for-4 for Cranberry while Cole Findlay was 1-for-4 with a double and a run scored.

Pierson Ruhlman got the win going seven innings of four-hit ball. He walked three and struck out five while giving up one unearned run.

Hudson Galla took the loss going 2 ⅔ innings allowing five runs, one earned, on two hits, four walks, and four hit batters. He struck out two.

FOREST AREA 7, VENANGO CATHOLIC 5

MARIENVILLE, Pa. – Auprel McLean’s one-out single in the sixth inning broke a 5-all tie, and Forest Area broke a 38-game losing streak with a 7-5 win over visiting Venango Catholic.

McLean was 2-for-2 with two walks, two runs scored, and two RBIs for the lead the Fires while Colton Kuntz went 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles, and RIO, and two runs scored, and Warren Dashner was 2-for-4 witrh a run scored.

Nathan Dietrich also went 1-for-4 with a double, a run scored, and an RBI.

Kuntz got the win going 6 1/3 innings allowing five runs, three earned, on four hits and six walks while striking out 12.

Dietrich picked up the save going 2/3 of an inning scorless striking out two.

COUDERSPORT 12, CAMERON COUNTY 2, 6 INNINGS

COUDERSPORT, Pa. – Owen Deutschlander, Mason Roessner, Gavyn Ayers, and Quinn Kratzer all contributed in a big way to Coudersport’s 12-2, six-inning win over visiting Cameron County.

Deutschlander was 3-for-4 with two doubles, an RBI, and three runs scored.

Roessner was 3-for-4 with a double, a triple, two RBI’s, and three runs scored.

Ayers, the winning pitcher – more on that in a moment – was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBIs, and Kratzer was 2-for-4 with three RBIs.

Ayers went six innings allowing two runs, one earned, on five hits, four walks, and a hit batter. He struck out nine.

Cameron County, which suffered its first loss of the season, got two hits each from Maddox Baughman and Bo Pearsall with Baughman going 2-for-3 and Pearsall going 2-for-2 with a double.

Ryan Shaffer took the loss throwing five innings and allowing 12 runs, seven earned, on 11 hits, two walks, and a hit batter. She struck out eight.

CLARION-LIMESTONE 11, KARNS CITY 0, 5 INNINGS

STRATTANVILLE, Pa. – Scoring all of its runs in the second and third innings, Clarion-Limestone rolled to an 11-1, five-inning victory over visiting Karns City.

Down 1-0, the Lions scored five in the second and six in the third.

Bryaden Murray hit a home run for C-L and was 1-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI, while Logan Lutz drove in three runs going 2-for-3.

Nick Aaron and Jesse Siwiecki each added a pair of RBIs.

Aaron was 2-for-3 with a double and two runs scored, and Siwiecki was 2-for-2 with a double and two runs scored.

Tommy Smith also went 1-for-3 with a double, a run scored, and an RBI for the Lions and was the winning pitcher. He went four innings allowing one run on two hits and a walk while striking out seven.

Troy Nagel was 2-for-2 with a double and an RBI for Karns City.

Mason Sherwin took the loss going 2 ⅓ innings allowing 11 runs, nine earned, on eight hits and a walk while striking out two.

SMETHPORT 6, OSWAYO VALLEY 1

SHINGLEHOUSE, Pa. – Behind 13 strikeouts by Brentton McDowell, Smethport picked up its first win of the season, 6-1, on the road at Oswayo Valley.

McDowell went 5 ⅔ innings allowing one earned run on two hits and six walks.

Cole Szuba then threw the final 1 ⅓ innings scores allowing a walk and striking out one.

Zach Hungiville was 2-for-3 with two runs scored for the Hubbers while McDowell went 1-for-3 with a walk, an RBI, and two runs scored.

Bennett Harris also drove in a pair of runs in the win going 1-for-4.

Isaiah Goode was 2-for-3 with a walk and a run scored for Oswayo Valley.

Ethan Hackman took the loss going seven innings allowing six runs, three earned, on five hits, four walks, and a hit batter. He struck out five.

ALTOON 16, CURWENSVILLE 0, 5 INNINGS

ALTOONA, Pa. – At the Curve Classic at PNG Park in Altoona, Altoona had five different players record a pair of RBIs in a 16-0, five-inning victory in the opening round.

Riley Wilson, Blake Nicolini, Tanner Stroup, Sam Royer, and Connor Sanders each had two RBIs.

Gavin Albright got the win going five innings allowing two hits and two walks while striking out seven.

Hunter Tkacik and Gavin McDermott had hits for Curwensville.

Logan Kunkle took the loss going two innings allowing 11 runs, six earned, on 10 hits and two walks while striking out one.

Curwensville will face Tyrone in a consolation game at 12:30 p.m. Friday.
