Base: St. Marys Stuns DuBois with Six in the Seventh; ECC, Punxsy Grab Close Victories Powered by N. Washington Rodeo

DUBOIS, Pa. – Scoring six times in the top of the seventh, St. Marys stunned DuBois, 13-12, at Showers Field in DuBois.

The Beavers took an 11-7 lead into the final inning, but the Dutch sent 10 men to the plate in the inning and took advantage of five walks issued by DuBois pitchers and a Beaver error.

Jackson Vollmer tied the game with an RBI fielder’s choice before Carter Redmond’s two-run double put St. Marys ahead, 13-11.

DuBois got a run back on a Danny Dixon sac fly in the bottom of the seventh but couldn’t close the gap.

   

                  

The Beavers actually led 9-0 at the end of two innings and 10-2 going to the fourth.

But St. Marys scored twi in the fourt, two in the fifth, and one in the sixth while giving up a run in the fourth to get within four.

Lucas Bauer drove in three runs for the Dutch going 1-for-4 with a walk and two runs scored. Redmond added a pair of RBIs and was 3-for-5 with two doubles while Mason Nicklas was 2-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored.

Ben Reynolds and Ben Paul also each scored twice for St. Marys with both players going 1-for-3 with two walks and an RBI.

Louie Nedzinski got the win going 1 ⅓ innings allowing an earned run on three hits while striking out one.

                          

Trey Wingard had four RBIs for DuBois going 3-for-5 with a run scored while Kaden Clark was 2-for-4 with a triple, two runs scored, and three RBIs. Lucas Delaney added a 2-for-3 day with a walk and an RBI, Tyler Chamberlin went 2-for-3 with four runs scored, Boston Graham was 1-for-2 with two walks and two runs scored, and Dixon walked once, drove in two, and scored once.

Davey Aughenbaugh took the loss. He walked the only three batters he faced and all three came around to score.

ELK COUNTY CATHOLIC 3, OTTO-ELDRED 2

ELDRED, Pa. – Matthew Gilmore retired the only batter he faced to earn the save in a 3-2 Elk County Catholic win at Otto-Eldred.

               

Gilmore was summoned to face pinch hitter Mason Schenfield with two outs in the bottom of the seventh after Zach Schuessler’s two-run home run off of Lance O’Neill had gotten the Terrors within a run,

But Gilmore got Schenfield to pop out on a 2-2 pitch to end the game.

Gilmore saved the game for O’Neill who went 6 ⅔ innings allowing two earned runs on five hits and a walk while striking out seven. He needed 99 pitches.

ECC led 2-0 after scoring single runs in the second and third before picking up an all-important insurance run in the sixth on a balk.

Colby Nussbaum was 3-for-3 with a walk and a run scored for ECC, while O’Neill went 2-for-3 with a walk, and Frankie Smith was 1-for-3 with a walk and an RBI.

Schuessler was 2-for-2 with the home run, a run scored, and two RBIs for Otto-Eldred.

Jared Obenrader took the loss going 5 ⅓ innings allowing three runs, two earned, on eight hits and two walks while striking out four.

PUNXSUTAWNEY 3, MONITEAU 1

PUNXSUTAWNEY, Pa. – Parker Stahlman and Nevin Day combined to limit visiting Moniteau to one unearned run, as Punxsutawney picked up a 3-1 victory.

Stahlman got the win going five innings allowing one unearned run on six hits and two walks while striking out 10.

            

Day got the save going two scoreless innings allowing two hits while striking out five.

Day was also 1-for-3 with a triple, a run scored, and an RBI for the Chucks, while Copper Hallman went 2-for-3 with a run scored.

Connor Ealy took the loss allowing three runs, two earned, on four hits and three walks while striking out four in 5 ⅔ innings.

Dawson Wallace was 3-for-4 for Moniteau, while Ealy went 2-for-4 with a run scored, and Keagan Book went 2-for-4.

BRADFORD 10, CLEARFIELD 0, 5 INNINGS

BRADFORD, Pa. – Talan Reese tossed a four-hit shutout, and Wyatt Stark and Liam Haven each drove in three runs to lead Bradford to a 10-0, five-inning win over visiting Clearfield.

Reese went all five innings and was effectively wild hitting three and walking two but also striking out nine.

Haven was 2-for-3 with a double while Stark was 2-for-2 with two walks. Matthew Perry also went 2-for-2 with two runs scored for the Owls.

Hunter Rumsky went 2-for-2 for Clearfield.

Elijah Quick took the loss allowing six runs, just one earned, on six hit, three walks, and a hit batter in 3 ⅔ innings of work. He struck out two.

CURWENSVILLE SWEEPS BROCKWAY

CURWENSVILLE, Pa. – Curwensville took a pair of games from visiting Brockway winning the completion of Friday’s suspended game, 10-2, then taking the regularly scheduled contest, 8-2.

The first game was tied at two in the third when it resumed, and Curwensville quickly gained control with a five-run third.

Andrew Pentz, Gavin McDermott, and Lawson Neiswender each drove in a pair of runs for the Golden Tide.

Pentz was 2-for-3 with a home run, a walk, and two runs scored, McDermott was 2-for-4 with a walk and a run scored, and Neiswneder was 1-for-3 with a double and two walks.

Cael Butler also went 2-for-4 with an RBI in the victory, and Logan Kunkle was 1-for-4 with a double, a walk, and two runs scored.

Kunkle also got the win going seven innings allowing two earned runs on seven hits and a walk while striking out five.

Matthew Brubaker was 2-for-3 with an RBI for Brockway while Andrew Brubaker went 1-for-3 with a double and a run scored.

Andrew Brubaker took the loss going two innings allowing six earned runs on four hits and four walks while striking out four.

In the second game, Butler had three RBIs while going 2-for-2 with a double and a run scored for Curwensville, while Merek Sutika was 2-for-3 with a walk and an RBI, and Lincoln Hoyt was 1-for-3 with a run scored and two RBIs.

Pentz got the win going six innings allowing two runs, one earned, on two hits, two walks, and two hit batters. He struck out seven.

Chad Young went 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI for Brockway while Ben Yale was 1-for-2 with a double and a walk.

Young was the losing pitcher going five innings giving up three runs, one earned, on five hits, a walk, and a hit batter. He struck out six.

REDBANK VALLEY 10, KEYSTONE 0, 6 INNINGS

ALCOLA, Pa. – Braylon Wagner and Owen Clouse combined to throw a one-hit, six-inning shutout to lift Redbank Valley to a 10-0, six-inning win over visiting Keystone.

Wagner went the first three innings to get the win. He gave up one hit while walking three and striking out three.

Clouse then picked up the save going three hitless innings allowing two walks while striking out seven.

Wagner did damage with the bat as well going 3-for-3 with a walk, a run scored, and two RBIs.

Ty Carrier was 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI, Mason Clouse was 2-for-3 with a double, a walk, and two runs scored, Breckin Minich was 1-for-3 with a run scored, and two RBIs, and Carson Gould was 1-for-3 with a walk and two RBIs. Cole Lufsey also went 1-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored.

Noah Weckerly took the loss going 3 ⅓ innings allowing seven runs, four earned, on five hits, five walks, and a hit batter while striking out three.

WELLSBORO 12, COUDERSPORT 4

COUDERSPORT, Pa. – Visiting Wellsboro got two RBIs each from Marek Mascho, Gabe Sprouse, Maxwell Mascho, Alec Magil, and Ryder Bowen on its way to a 12-4 win over Coudersport.

Sprouse and Caden Smith each scored three times for the Hornets.

Sprouse got the win going five innings allowing two unearned runs on four hits and two walks while striking out seven.

Gavyn Ayers and Mason Roessner each had doubles for Coudersport with Roessner going 1-for-3 with a walk and two RBIs and Ayers going 1-for-4. Mitchell Taylor added a 2-for-4 day with an RBI for the Falcons.

Roessner took the loss going three innings allowing seven runs, three earned, on four hits, two walks, and a hit batter. He struck out two.
