Base: C-L Tops N. Clarion; Early Scoring Lifts Cameron, Coudy to Wins; Pentz Strong on Hill in Cville Victory powered by N. Washington Rodeo

DUBOIS, Pa. – Taking advantage of five North Clarion errors in the fifth inning, Clarion-Limestone scored seven runs in the inning to close out a 10-0, five-inning victory at Showers Field in DuBois.

Tommy Smith had a strong day at the plate for the Lions reaching base four times going 2-for-2 with a triple, a single, and two walks. He scored twice, and his single in the fifth drove in the 10th run.

                  

Tommy Smith was named the Allegheny Grille of Foxburg Player of the Game and talked about the win on the Cole Orthodontic’s Postgame Interview.

Jake Smith also went 2-for-3 with a run scored and two RBIs for C-L, while Aidan Coulson was 2-for-3 with a double, two runs scored, and two RBIs.

Jack Craig got the win going four scoreless innings. He allowed one hit while walking four and striking out one. Paul Craig threw a scoreless fifth.

Hudson Irwin took the loss going four innings allowing three earned runs on six hits and a walk while striking out two. Irwin had the lone hit for the Wolves.

                          

CAMERON COUNTY 9, OTTO-ELDRED 5

ELDRED, Pa. – A seven-run first inning helped visiting Cameron County to a 9-5 win over Otto-Eldred.

Jesop Farabaugh, Bo Pearsall, and Lathan Reed each had two-run singles in the first.

Pearsall drove in three in the game going 1-for-3 with a walk and a run scored, while Anthony Mastriania was 2-for-3 with a walk and a run scored. Maddox Baughman also went 2-for-4 with a double, a walk, and a run scored.

Manning Splain was 3-for-4 with a double and a run scored for Otto-Eldred while Landon Francis drove in two going 1-for-4 with a run scored.

               

Shane Magee was also 3-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored for the Terrors.

Josh Beer tossed a complete game to get the win. He went seven innings allowing five runs, three earned, on nine hits, a walk, and a hit batter. He struck out five.

Andrew Schenfield took the loss going ⅔ of an inning allowing seven earned runs on three hits and four walks.

CURWENSVILLE 4, WILLIAMSBURG 1

WILLIAMSBURG, Pa. – Andrew Pentz tossed a two-hitter to lead Curwensville to its first victory of the season, 4-1 at Williamsburg.

Pentz gave up two hits and struck out seven needing just 80 pitches to go seven innings.

Pentz helped his own cause driving in three of the Golden Tide runs going 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles.

Lincoln Hoyt also had a double for Curwensville going 1-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI, while Cael Butler was 2-for-3 with a run scored

A-C VALLEY/UNION 10, CRANBERRY 3

            

BUTLER, Pa. – Getting four hits, three walks, four runs scored, and three RBIs from the bottom third of its lineup, A-C Valley/Union picked up a 10-3 win over Cranberry at Michelle Krill Field at Historic Pullman Park in Butler.

No. 7 hitter Colbin Elliott was 2-for-3 with a walk, a run scored, and an RBI for the Falcon Knights, while No. 8 hitter Carter McGarvey went 1-for-2 with two walks, a run scored, and an RBI. No. 9 hitter Trent Fleming went 1-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored.

Leadoff man Zach Cooper also drove in three runs in the win going 2-for-3 with a triple and a run scored.

Elliott got the win in relief going 3 ⅓ innings scoreless allowing a pair of hits, three walks, and two hit batters while striking out four.

Connor Morrow drove in a pair of runs for Cranberry going 1-for-3 with a walk.

Hudson Galla took the loss going seven innings allowing 10 runs, five earned, on eight hits, three walks, and three hit batters while striking out three.

COUDERSPORT 9, SMETHPORT 4

COUDERSPORT, Pa. – Quinn Kratzer and Avery Taylor each drove in a pair of runs to help Coudersport to a 9-4 win over visiting Smethport.

Kratzer went 2-for-4 while Taylor was 1-for-4.

The Falcons used a five-run first to set the tone.

Mason Roessner and Gavin Ayders each added a pair of hits for Coudersport with Roessner going 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI and Ayers going 2-for-4 with a triple, an RBI, and two runs scored.

LT Myers, the second of four Coudersport pitches, got the win going two innings allowing two earned runs on two walks and three hit batters. He struck out two.

Owen Deutschlander started and went two innings allowing an unearned run on a hit, two walks, and a hit batter while striking out four.

Roessner pitched two innings giving up an earned run on two hits and a walk while striking out five, and Ayers pitched a scoreless inning striking out four thanks to a wild pitch.

Colin Riekofsky was 1-for-4 with an RBI for Smethport.

Cole Szuba took the loss going five innings allowing seven runs, five earned, on seven hits and five walks while striking out two.

OSWAYO VALLEY 10, NORTHERN POTTER 4

SHINGLEHOUSE, Pa. – Andrew Wood and Ridge Mesler combined to drive in five runs in Oswayo Valley’s 10-4 home win over Northern Potter.

Wood was 1-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs scored with Mesler going 1-for-4 with two RBIs.

Isaiah Goode had a pair of hits for the Green Wave going 2-for-3 with two walks and four runs scored.

Nik Bonney got the win going 4 ⅓ innings allowing three runs, two earned, on five hits, two walks, and a hit batter. He struck out six.

Noah Cady paced Northern Potter going 3-for-4 with a run scored and three RBIs.

Kaden Hoopes took the loss going one inning plus allowing three earned runs on two walks and two hit batters.

CLARION 17, FOREST AREA 0, 5 INNINGS

MARIENVILLE, Pa. – Five Clarion pitchers combined to throw a five-inning perfect in a 17-0, five-inning win over Forest Area at East Forest.

Hayden Weber, Ethan Rex, Parker Miller, Noah Frederick, and Wyatt Waterson each tossed a perfect inning with Rex, the second of the five, getting the win.

Weber struck out three, Rex struck out two, Frederick struck out three, Miller struck out one, and Waterson struck out three.

Offensively, the Bobcats had five extra-base hits including a triple by Derek Smail and doubles from Bryce Brinkley, Devon Lauer, Noah Harrison, and Tanner Miller.

Waterson led the offense going 3-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBIs, Derek Smail was 1-for-1 with a walk, two runs scored, and three RBIs, Tanner Miller went 1-for-2 with two RBIs, and Gabe Anderson also drove in the first two runs of his high school career.
