April 5, 2022 D10 Baseball: Kennedy Catholic Wins Pitchers Duel Against Reynolds; Saegertown Blanks Maplewood

GREENVILLE, Pa. – Nick Ondo and Remington Hart combined on a 1-hitter as Kennedy Catholic outlasted Reynolds, 1-0 in eight innings.

Riley Mastowski delivered the go-ahead RBI single in the top of the eighth that scored Stargell Fuhr, who doubled to lead off the inning.

Ondo went 6 ⅔ innings, allowing just one hit, striking out nine without issuing a walk. He threw 59 of his 84 pitches for strikes. Hart came on in relief and went 1 ⅓ scoreless, allowing just a walk and striking out one.

Hart and Mastowski both had two hits apiece for Kennedy Catholic

Cameron Buckley took the loss, allowing one run on three hits in three innings, walking five, and striking out five.

   

                  

SAEGERTOWN 14, MAPLEWOOD 0, 5 innings

GUYS MILLS, Pa. – Landon Caldwell went 3-for-3 with a double, six RBI, and three runs as Saegertown powered to a 14-0 win over Maplewood.

Zach Balog (3 innings) and Chandler Davison (2 innings) combined to allow just one hit and two walks, striking out eight.

Balog drove in a pair of runs, while Henry Shaffer was 2-for-3 with three runs and an RBI and Wyatt Burchill was 1-for-3 with three RBI.

Ethan Peterson took the loss for Maplewood, allowing seven runs (four earned) in 1 ⅓ innings, allowing four hits, walking four, and striking out one.

                          

TITUSVILLE 7, GENERAL MCLANE 4

TITUSVILLE, Pa. – Titusville jumped out to a 7-0 lead on its way to a 7-4 win over General McLane.

Kameron Mong went 3-for-4 with a double, three RBI, and two runs, while Kolin Baker was 2-for-2 with two RBI for the Rockets.

Tanner Abrams got the win, going five shutout innings, allowing just four hits and two walks while striking out four.

               

Ross Morrow took the loss, allowing five runs on six hits in two innings of work, walking two.

Brandon Dedrick went 2-for-4 with an RBI for the Lancers.

CORRY 8, WARREN 6

COLUMBUS, Pa. – Max Rimdzius’ two-run single in the bottom of the sixth broke a 6-6 tie and lifted Corry to an 8-6 win over Warren.

Corry took a 6-1 lead, but Warren rallied, tying the game at 6 in the top of the sixth on Konner Hoffman’s 2-run single.

Rimdzius drove in three runs for the Beavers, while, Nick Brundage had two RBI and scored a pair of runs and John Albers and Nathan Lesher had an RBI each.

Albers was credited with the win. He allowed two runs in two innings on three hits and two walks, striking out a pair.

Corry also took advantage of four Warren errors.

The 7-8-9 hitters in Warren’s lineup – Paul Smith, Anthony Erret, and Hoffman combined to go 8-for-10 with five RBI and a pair of runs.

Archie Teconchuk took the loss for Warren, allowing six runs (one earned) in two innings, allowing one hit and seven walks, striking out three.

            

LAKEVIEW 6, MERCER 2

MERCER, Pa. – Lakeview scored three runs in the fifth inning en route to a 6-2 win over Mercer.

Evan Reiser was dominant on the mound, allowing just two unearned runs in six innings. He struck out five, allowed four hits, and didn’t issue a walk, throwing 48 of his 71 pitches for strikes.

Ted Shillito had a pair of RBI for the Sailors, while Chase Hostetler and Mason Bevan each drove in a run, with Bevan going 2-for-3.

Troy Bachman took the loss for Mercer, allowing four runs (two earned) in six innings, allowing eight hits, and striking out five.

Julian Lawrence had the lone RBI for the Mustangs.

WILMINGTON 6, WEST MIDDLESEX 1

WEST MIDDLESEX, Pa. – Garrett Heller tossed five shutout innings as Wilmington earned a 6-1 win over West Middlesex.

Heller struck out seven and allowed just two hits and three walks. Rocky Serafino tossed the final two innings, allowing one run on two hits and striking out a pair.

The big offensive blow came in the second inning when Wilmington’s Isaac Schleich delivered a three-run home run to make it 5-0.

Dom Serafino went 1-for-3 with a pair of RBI for the Greyhounds.

Richie Preston took the loss for West Middlesex, allowing five runs (two earned) in two innings, allowing two hits, and issuing five walks while striking out three.

Devin Gruver had an RBI for the Big Reds.

MERCYHURST PREP 11, NORTHWESTERN 3

ERIE, Pa. – Mike Nelligan went 3-for-4 with five RBI as Mercyhurst Prep earned an 11-3 win over Northwestern.

The Lakers led 9-0 after three innings.

Josh Majczk got the win, going four innings. He combined with Jake Manendo to fan 16 Northwestern batters over seven innings.

Garrett Eddy took the loss, allowing nine runs (eight earned) in 2 ⅔ innings, allowing seven hits and walking six.
