COCHRANTON 4, ROCKY GROVE 2

COCHRANTON, Pa. – Wyatt Barzak had a strong day on the mound and at the plate as Cochranton edged Rocky Grove, 4-2.

Barzak went 6 ⅔ innings before reaching his pitch limit, allowing two runs on four hits, striking out 10, and walking two. At the plate, he was 2-for-2 with a double, RBI, and two runs.

The Cardinals scored two runs in the first inning and two more in the third. Bryce McDonough was 2-for-2 with an RBI, while Andrew Albert was 1-for-3 with an RBI. Albert got the final out via strikeout for the save.

   

                  

Isaac Clayton took the loss for Rocky Grove, allowing four runs in five innings on 11 hits, striking out eight, and walking three.

Travis Knupp and Reece Henderson both drove in runs for the Orioles.

IROQUOIS 19, YOUNGSVILLE 9, 6 innings

LAWRENCE PARK, Pa. – Ben Burkhardt and Gavin Lewis combined for nine RBIs as Iroquois beat Youngsville, 19-9 in six innings

Burkhard was 3-for-4 with a double, five RBIs, and three runs, while Lewis was 2-for-3 with two doubles, four RBIs, and three runs. Six of the other nine starters in the Iroquois lineup drove in one reach, including Reilly Brown, who was 2-for-4 with three runs.

                          

The Tigers scored in every inning, including six in the second and five in the fourth.

Brown got the win, going four innings and allowing three runs on three hits, walking three, and striking out eight.

Matt DeSimone and Nate Lucks both had strong days at the plate for Youngsville. DeSimone was 3-for-3 with a double and three RBIs, while Lucks was 3-for-4 with two doubles and three runs.

DeSimone took the loss, allowing 12 runs (nine earned) in 3 ⅔ innings on nine hits, striking out seven and walking six.

               

NORTH EAST 9, NORTHWESTERN 1

NORTH EAST, Pa. – Andrew Aspden fired a complete-game one-hitter as North East earned a 9-1 win over Northwestern.

Aspden’s lone run allowed was unearned, as he struck out 11 and walked four in his seven innings of work.

At the plate, North East scored four runs in the first inning and four more in the fourth. David Gibson had a big day, going 2-for-4 with a double and four RBIs. Anthony Rizzo was 2-for-4 with two RBIs, Tommy Owens 2-for-4 with three runs and an RBI, and Reid Courtwright 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI.

Alex Mullen-Haas took the loss, allowing eight runs (seven earned) in 3 ⅔ innings, striking out two.

HICKORY 6, SHARON 0

SHARON, Pa. – Tyson Djakovich tossed 6 ⅓ innings of two-hit baseball as Hickory beat Sharon, 6-0.

Djakovich struck out six and walked three in his effort, with Joey Fazzone recording the final two outs for the Hornets.

Hickory jumped on Sharon early, scoring four runs in the first inning. Three runs came across on errors and DJ Donatelli drew a bases-loaded walk. Johnny Leedham finished 2-for-4 with an RBI, while Fazzone also drove in a run.

Cole Voytik suffered the loss, allowing six runs (one earned) in 4 ⅓ innings on four hits and five walks while striking out eight.

            

MEADVILLE 7, OIL CITY 6

MEADVILLE, Pa. – Mason Walker’s RBI single in the bottom of the seventh proved to be the walk-off winner as Meadville beat Oil City, 7-6.

Rocco Tartaglione had a big day at the plate for the Bulldogs, driving in two runs, including a home run. Brady Walker also went deep for the Bulldogs.
