Warren School District Confirms Positive COVID-19 Case in School District

WARREN, Pa. – The Warren County School District confirmed a positive case of COVID-19 in a media release late Tuesday, Sept. 1.

“On the evening of (Tuesday), Sept.1, we were informed of a positive COVID-19 case here in the district”, Warren County School District Superintendent Amy Stewart said. “The district has followed recommendations from the (Pennsylvania) Department of Health and contacted any individuals directly impacted.”

Earlier in the evening of Sept. 1, D9and10Sports.com had been informed by multiple sources that the positive case in question was associated with the Warren High football team.

The release did not say whether the positive case was an athlete or not.

In the release, the Warren County School District said it immediately followed guidance issued by the Pennsylvania Department of Education and initiated a targeted cleaning of its facilities. District administration will continue
to work with staff and students to reinforce COVID-related expectations and procedures, which includes screening before entering buildings, social distancing, use of approved face coverings, and proper handwashing.

“District staff and administration have been preparing for a situation like this for months,” Stewart said. “We know that dealing with positive cases was going to be a reality for us and are confident in our preparation and response.”
