EUGENE, Ore. – Union graduate Evie Bliss won the national title in the javelin at the USATF Under-20 championships in Eugene, Ore., Sunday afternoon.
Bliss who won the PIAA Class 2A title with a meet-record throw of 170 feet, 2 inches, uncorked a throw Sunday of 169 feet, 11 inches to better second-place finisher Shea Greene of Princeton by two feet. Greene’s toss was 167 feet, 11 inches. Greene was the Ivy League champion this past spring.
Bliss and Green were the only two throwers to go over 160 feet in the event.
