Toven Hits 500 Kills for Punxsy; Harbor Creek, Redbank, Mercyhurst Prep Win in Five Setters

PUNXSUTAWNEY, Pa. – Ciara Toven recorded her 500th career kill to help Punxsutawney to a 3-0 (25-21, 25-17, 25-19) win over visiting Bradford.

Toven had 19 kills in the match to go with three aces.

She was honored after the contest along with setter Danielle Griebel, who recorded her 1,500th career set assist on Sept. 21 at Bradford.

In this match, Griebel had 22 set assists and three aces.

Brynn Hergert paced the Lady Chucks on defense with 16 digs and added four aces

            

HARBOR CREEK 3, SENECA 2

ERIE, Pa. – Visiting Harbor Creek rallied past Seneca, 3-2 (22-25, 25-19, 23-25, 25-23, 15-7) thanks to 20 kills from Hannah Smith.

Elise Benim added eight kills and six digs for the Huskies who also got six kills from Lexie Janke and five kills from Liz Gunther.

Aly Hester led Harbor Creek on defense with 17 digs, while Talon King (20 set assists) and Addison Lucas (17 set assists) ran the offense.

Emily Stafford had 11 kills and nine digs for Seneca with Ava Guzowski adding 10 kills, seven digs, and 16 set assists.

                          

Maddie Marvey chipped in five blocks for the Bobcats.

REDBANK VALLEY 3, MONITEAU 2

WEST SUNBURY, Pa. – Taylor Ripple had 17 kills and 10 digs to help visiting Redbank Valley rally past Moniteau, 3-2 (25-22, 19-25, 21-25, 25-17, 15-13).

Mylee Harmon added 15 kills and two aces for the Lady Bulldogs who also got 12 kills and three aces from Izzy Bond and 10 digs from Kira Bonanno.

Elaina Carrico ran the offense for Redbank Valley with 33 set assists.

MERCYHURST PREP 3, FORT LEBOEUF 2

ERIE, Pa. – Addica Sperry had 20 kills and 17 digs as Mercyhurst Prep rallied past visiting Fort LeBoeuf, 3-2 (19-25, 25-21, 23-25, 25-19, 15-6).

Olivia Kulyk added 18 kills and eight blocks for the Lakers who also got 14 digs from Mya Fuller and 11 digs apiece from Da’Zhana Jordan and Eva Dvorak. Tatum Showalter helped the defense with four blocks.

Julia Seth ran the offense for Mercyhurst Prep with 45 set assists while also adding 16 digs.

Katelyn Olmstead had 13 kills and seven digs for Fort LeBoeuf with Mya Stolz adding 11 kills, Kayleigh Anderson contributing 10 kills, and Ela McGowan chipping in seven kills and eight digs.

                        

Bella Johnson had 14 digs and three aces for the Bison, while Tessa Bellis served four aces and added 14 set assists.

Kiernan Skelton contributed 13 set assists and six digs in the loss, and Mackenzie Galdon had 16 set assists and six digs.

JOHNSONBURG 3, RIDGWAY 0

RIDGWAY, Pa. – Kiera Marciniak had 12 kills, three aces, and three blocks to help Johnsonburg knock off homestanding Ridgway, 3-0 (25-13, 25-15, 25-16).

Maggie Hetrick added seven kills, and Marlee Cherry had six kills for the Ramettes.

         

Cadence Brechtel ran the Johnsonburg offense with 27 set assists while adding four aces, and Maria Casilio also had four aces.

CATHEDRAL PREP 3, GENERAL MCLANE 0

EDINBORO, Pa. – Kaylin Laird had 10 kills to help Cathedral Prep sweep homestanding General McLane, 3-0 (27-25, 25-19, 25-17).

Coco Speros added seven kills for the Ramblers with Carolina Krahe chipping in five kills.

Mackenzie Moore and Kamryn Resurreccion each had seven digs, and Resurreccion ran the offense for Prep with 24 set assists.

Ellah Beachly had 16 digs for General McLane while Pacey Moran had 11 set assists.

Also for the Lancer, Cassidy Swain delivered five kills and three blocks, Riley Amory had five kills and three digs, and Morgan Frick chipped in seven set assists and six digs.

CLARION 3, VENANGO CATHOLIC 0; CLARION 3, FOREST AREA 0

CLARION, Pa. – Playing a rare doubleheader, Clarion swept past visiting Venango Catholic, 3-0 (25-3, 25-7, 25-8) and also took care of visiting Forest Area, 3-0 (25-3, 25-5, 25-10).

Against Venango Catholic, the Lady Cats used 25 aces to get the win.

Alicyn Burford had 12 aces to lead the way with Taylor Alston adding five aces.

Martley Kline had a match-best 11 kills.

Against Forest Area, it was 19 aces that helped Clarion to victory.

Addi Campbell had eight aces with Anna O’Tolle adding five aces.

Kline had seven kills to lead the net presence for the Lady Cats with Alivia Diehl chipping in five kills.

SAEGERTOWN 3, REYNOLDS 0

GREENVILLE, Pa. – Visiting Saegertown got 14 kills from Maggie Triola to beat Reynolds, 3-0 ((25-14, 25-13, 25-8).

Lyndzee Amory added eight kills with Alyssa Arblaster contributing seven kills and five digs, and Brywn McLaughlin chipping in six kills.

Rylie Braymer had a team-high six digs, and Lindsey Greco ran the offense for the Panthers with 32 set assists.

Kylie McAdoo had 24 digs for Reynolds with Addie Floch chipping in two kills and four digs.

CRANBERRY 3, A-C VALLEY 0

FOXBURG, Pa. – Ayanna Ferringer had 11 kills, six digs, and six blocks to lead Cranberry to a 3-0 (25-23, 25-10, 25-12) win at A-C Valley.

Reyna Watson added four aces and three digs for the Berries while Avery Coe had three aces and four digs.

Allie Rembold ran the offense for Cranberry with 11 set assists.

Maddy Dehart had five kills for A-C Valley with Bella Ielase adding three kills and four digs, Lexi Altman chipping in six set assists and six digs, and Ava Snyder contributing six digs.

SHARPSVILLE 3, TITUSVILLE 1

SHARPSVILLE, Pa. – Emma Brest had 13 killsand 12 digs to help Sharpsville to a 3-1 (19-25, 25-14, 25-23, 25-21) home win over Titusville.

Lillian Morrison added nine kills and 11 digs for the Blue Devils who also got six kills from Mia Labbineto, seven digs from Miah Applegarth, and six digs from Jordan Brest.

Ryleigh Fry ran the offense for Sharpsville with 27 set assists while adding five kills and 11 digs.

DUBOIS 3, ST. MARYS 0

ST. MARYS, Pa. – Morgan Pasternak paced a well-rounded DuBois offense in a 3-0 (25-16, 25-12, 25-13) win at St. Marys with 12 kills and six aces. She also added nine digs.

Ava Baronick added eight kills and seven digs while Grace Prosper and Alissa Stevens each had seven kills. Stevens also had a team-best 21 digs. Baylee Spinda also chipped in 10 digs and three aces.

Haley Reed ran the offense for the Lady Beavers with 30 set assists and added three kills and four digs, and Riley Peters chipped in five kills, three digs, and two aces.

Rylee Nicklas had seven kills, nine digs, and six set assists for St. Mareys while Hannah Ritter added six kills and 10 digs. Jianna Gerg had 17 digs for the Lady Dutch, and Molly Hanslovan added nine set assists.

MAPLEWOOD 3, IROQUOIS 0

GUYS MILLS, Pa. – Elizabeth Hunter had nine kills and two blocks as homestanding Maplewood rolled past Iroquois, 3-0 (25-13, 25-15, 25-11).

Bree Neely added seven kills and five digs for the Tigers who also got six kills, five digs, and five aces from Madison O’Hara.

Lexy Potosky led the defense for Maplewood with 12 digs, and Maggie Means ran the offense with 23 set assists.

CLARION-LIMESTONE 3, KARNS CITY 0

STRATTANVILLE, Pa. – On its Pink Night, Clarion-Limestone got nine kills apiece from Ansley Brke and Jenna Dunn to beat Karns City, 3-0 (25-17, 25-10, 25-17).

Kaylee Smith ran the offense for the Lady Lions with 29 set assists, while Alyssa Wiant added seven kills and Maddy Greeley six kills.

Abby Knapp-Greeley had 16 digs to pace the C-L defense.

Ava Fox had eight kills and seven digs for Karns City with Nicole Taylor adding eight digs.

The Pink Match raised $2,257 with the money being donated to the family of Karns City’s Mason Martin.

COCHRANTON 3, TIDIOUTE CHARTER 0

COCHRANTON, Pa. – Dani Hoffman had seven kills and seven aces to help Cochranton to a 3-0 (25-10, 25-6, 25-13) home win over Tidiotue Charter.

Macie Williams added seven digs for the Cardinals with Maggie Jackson running the offense with 21 set assists.

Callan Patterson had four kills for Tidoute Charter.

DUBOIS CENTRAL CATHOLIC 3, BROOKVILLE 0

DUBOIS, Pa. – Jessy Frank had seven kills to help DuBois Central Catholic to a 3-0 (25-18, 25-23, 25-22) win over visiting Brookville.

Kayley Risser added six kills and two blocks for the Lady Cardinals while Emma Elensky had five kills and two blocks.

NORTH EAST, Pa. – Cadence Jones had 15 kills and 11 digs to help North East to a 3-0 (25-11, 25-20, 25-21) win over visiting Union City.

Kayla Forsythe added nine kills for the Grape Pickers while Briell King had 19 digs and Aleksandra Tupper chipped in seven digs.

Grace Sanfilippo ran the offense for North East with 26 set assists.

Cathryn Reynolds had six kills, nine digs, and three aces for Union City with Brooke VanTassel adding four kills, Angie Hopson three blocks, and Alyssa Tingley 11 set assists.

KEYSTONE 3, NORTH CLARION 0

KNOX, Pa. – Addison Say had four aces, five kills, and three blocks to help Keystone sweep visiting North Clarion, 3-0 (25-12, 25-23, 25-16).

Ava Patrick led the Lady Panthers’ offense with 10 kills and two aces, while Katherine Burrows and Audrey Burrows each had six kills.

Gwyn Mannor paced the Keystone defense with 21 digs, and Bryanna Mong ran the offense with 14 set assists.

CONNEAUT 3, HICKORY 1

HERMITAGE, Pa. – Laine Harrington had 13 kills to help Conneaut to a 3-1 (25-16, 25-14, 18-25, 25-20) road win over Hickory.

Courtney Perrye added seven kills for the Eagles with Paris Karastury leading the defense with 17 digs and Carly Perrye serving three aces.

Peyten Karastury ran the offense for Conneaut with 37 set assists and added eight digs and four aces.

Leah Garm had seven kills and eight digs for Hickory with Lily Martin adding five kills and two aces, and Ariana DeBlasio 16 digs.

Bella Multari ran the offense for Hickory with 13 set assists and served two aces.

SHEFFIELD 3, KANE 0

KANE, Pa. – Visiting Sheffield got 29 set assists and 13 digs from Kadence Steffan on its way to a 3-0 (25-19, 25-19, 25-23) sweep of Kane.

Kassidy Orinko added 13 kills and four blocks for the Lady Wolverines while Emily Foster had 12 kills.

SLIPPERY ROCK 3, SHARON 0

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Avalee Demidovich had eight kills and seven digs to lead Slippery Rock to a 3-0 (25-16, 25-20, 25-19) win over visiting Sharon.

Anora Robare ran the Slippery Rock offense with 20 set assists, while Lexi Plesakov added 11 digs.

Ondrea Young had five kills for Sharon with Tay Chester coming up with 14 digs and Kylie Weirick eight digs.

Emmalie Yobe had seven set assists for the Tigers.

ELK COUNTY CATHOLIC 3, BROCKWAY 0

ST. MARYS, Pa. – Tori Newton had 20 kills to lead Elk County Catholic past visiting Brockway, 3-0 (25-11, 25-12, 25-15).

Reagan Bauer added 12 kills and three aces for the Lady Crusaders while Kiri Emmert ran the offense with 36 set assists.

Lauren Rendos had eight kills and four digs for Brockway while Kalina Powell chipped in 18 digs and Meeca Smith had 10 set assists and four digs.

Jenna Shultz added nine kills for the Tigers with Maddie Weber contributing eight kills and four aces and Taylor Polach 17 digs.

GROVE CITY, Pa. – Makayla Northcott and Addi Dannels each had nine kills to help Grove City sweep visiting Erie, 3-0 (25-12, 25-9, 25-20).

Northcott added five digs, while Kylie Mahaffey had six kills and five digs, and Bryanna Miller chipped in eight digs and five aces.

Abby Berry ran the offense for the Eagles with 22 set assists while adding seven digs and Jaya Persinger had six set assists and five digs.

WEST MIDDLESEX 3, KENNEDY CATHOLIC 0

WEST MIDDLESEX, Pa. – Caitlin Stephens had 11 kills, eight set assists, and four aces to help West Middlesex sweep visiting Kennedy Catholic, 3-0 (25-22, 25-12, 25-11) in the annual Pink Match.

Emma Mild added five aces, five kills, and 10 digs. Sloan Mild added five aces and five digs in the victory, and Abby Stinedurf ran the offense for West Middlesex with 12 set assists.

LAKEVIEW 3, JAMESTOWN 2

JAMESTOWN, Pa. – Lakeview beat homestanding Jamestown, 3-2 (16-25, 25-22, 18-25, 25-23, 15-11) behind eight kills and 10 blocks from Kyndra Seddon and 14 kills and nine digs from Maddie Doyle.

Emma Marsteller added five kills, four digs, and two blocks for the Sailors who also got 14 digs from Kendall Emmert.

Hannah Hart and Alyana Cadman each had nine kills for Jamestown with Hart adding 17 digs and Cadman six digs.

Emily Enterline ran the offense for the Muskies with 24 set assists and added three digs.

ERIE FIRST CHRISTIAN 3, EISENHOWER 2

RUSSELL, Pa. – Erie First Christian rallied for a 3-2 (24-26, 26-24, 21-25, 25-21, 15-5) road win over Eisenhower.

Emilie Jones had 16 kills for Eisenhower with Kenzie Miller and Caroline Smyth each added 12 kills for the Knights with Smyth each chipping in six blocks. Layla Edwards also had 11 kills.

Erie First stats weren’t available.

CAMBRIDGE SPRINGS 3, YOUNGSVILLE 1

CAMBRIDGE SPRINGS, Pa. – Cambridge Springs picked up a 3-1 (25-20, 25-10, 23-25, 25-16) home win over Youngsville.

Riley Robinault had eight kills, seven blocks, and 12 digs for Youngsville while Allyson Johnson had 11 digs and three blocks.

Cambridge Springs stats were not available.

FRANKLIN 3, OIL CITY 0

OIL CITY, Pa. – Visiting Franklin swept Oil City, 3-0 (25-17, 25-15, 25-19).

Nicki Petro had five kills, seven blocks, six digs, and two aces for Oil City, while Libbie Arnink added six digs and Chayse Skinner 11 set assists.
