DUKE CENTER, Pa. – Needing 24 points to set the school’s scoring record, Katie Sheeler scored a game-high 30 points to lead Otto-Eldred to a 57-38 win over Northern Potter in the District 9 Class 1A girls’ quarterfinals.

April Batt’s school mark of 1,575 points had stood since 1993, but Sheeler blew past the record on a free throw in the third quarter and now sits at 1,582 career points.
Batt (now April Preston) was on hand to present Sheeler with the game ball along with Otto-Eldred head coach Shawn Gray (See photo).
Sheeler and the top-seeded Lady Terrors (21-2) started fast with Sheeler scoring 16 first-quarter points to help Otto-Eldred build a 19-10 lead at the end of the first quarter.
It was 31-19 at halftime with Sheeler adding four more points before she hit a 3-pointer to tie Batt’s record in the third quarter and then hit the back end of a two-shot foul to break the mark.
As if the school scoring mark and 30 points weren’t enough, Sheeler added seven steals and three rebounds.
Sheeler wasn’t the only Lady Terror with a milestone as Bri Heller grabbed 10 rebounds to go over 600 in her career. Heller added two points.
Brooke Close chipped in seven points, five rebounds, and two steals in the win with Anna Merry scoring six points and Heidi Gordon grabbing five rebounds to go with two points.
Reagan Slawson had 14 points for Northern Potter (14-10) with Rebecca Martin adding 10 points, 12 rebounds, and four steals.
Otto-Eldred will face fourth-seeded DuBois Central Catholic in the semifinals Tuesday, Feb. 28.
Northern Potter will compete for the final PIAA playoff berth awarded to District 9 playing in a four-team consolation tournament. The Lady Panthers will travel to fifth-seeded Port Allegany for a 7 p.m. game Monday, Feb. 27.
