Sept. 17, 2020 VB Recaps: Meadville Tops Warren, Saegertown Outlast Cochranton

   

WARREN, Pa. – Thanks in part to 11 kills and 10 digs from Ella Stewart, Meadville picked up a 3-1 (25-13, 21-25, 25-22, 25-22) road win over Warren.

Meghan Willis added six kills and five digs for the Bulldogs with Kendall Sandrock chipping in five kills and 10 digs. Jillian Decker ran the show with 22 set assists.

For Warren, Hannah Shattuck had eight kills and 16 digs, Carly Beer and Jordan Sitler each had seven kills, Katie Madigan added 24 digs and Halee Mineweaser chipped in 31 set assists and seven digs.

SAEGERTOWN 3, COCHRANTON 2

            

SAEGERTOWN, Pa. – Fifteen kills apiece from Averie Braymer and Brittany Houck helped Saegertown outlast visiting Cochranton, 3-2 (20-25, 25-23, 25-20, 15-25, 15-13).

Houck completed a double-double with 19 digs, while Braymer hit .379. Ava Jones ran the show with 44 set assists.

OTTO-ELDRED 3, CAMERON COUNTY 1

DUKE CENTER, Pa. – Morgan Dalton helped Otto-Eldred rally past visiting Cameron County, 3-1 (19-25, 25-18, 25-21, 25-15).

Dalton had 12 kills, three aces, three digs and three blocks for the Lady Terrors who also got six kills, six blocks, three aces and 14 digs from Reilly Raught, five kills and six blocks from Brianna Silvis and four kills and six digs from Haley Cousins. Emmalee Sheeler set up the offense with 20 set assists while adding two aces.

                          

Kaelee Bresslin led Cameron County with eight kills, while Natalie Zucal had 11 digs.

COUDERSPORT 3, NORTHERN POTTER 1

COUDERSPORT, Pa. – Mackenzie Gentzyel paced a strong defensive effort from Coudersport with 12 digs to help the Lady Falcons to a 3-1 (25-20, 13-25, 25-17, 25-17) win over visiting Northern Potter.

Avaree Kellert led the offense for Coudy with 10 kills and chipped in seven digs, and Mikayla Kavounas ran the offense with 13 set assists and added five digs.

Courtney Martin had five kills and 11 digs for Northern Potter. Rebecca Martin chipped in six kills and four digs, Madison Hoopes had 10 digs and Faith Zdrojewski 12 set assists.

PORT ALLEGANY 3, SMETHPORT 1

SMETHPORT, Pa. – A monster match from Jade Evens helped visiting Port Allegany to a 3-1 (25-20, 13-25, 25-17, 25-17) win over Smethport.

Evens had 16 kills, nine digs and a block and got assistance from Madeline Smith (20 digs, five kills, 2 blocks) and Marah Rush (22 set assists).

Baylee Fitzsimmons had 20 digs to pace Smethport with Kaylee Swanson adding six kills and 14 digs.

CLARION 3, KEYSTONE 0

                        

CLARION, Pa. – Korrin Burns had 11 kills and four digs to help Clarion sweep visiting Keystone, 3-0 (25-9, 25-12, 25-16).

Erica Selfridge added eight kills, six digs and three aces for the Lady Cats with Brenna Campbell setting them up with 23 set assists while adding six digs and four aces. Jordan Best also had six digs.

Leah Exley led Keystone with eight kills and eight blocks with Sydney Bell adding six kills and a blocks, Emma Burrows 12 digs and Alexandria Johnston 13 set assists.

OSWAYO VALLEY 3, GALETON 2

SHINGLEHOUSE, Pa. – Oswayo Valley swept visiting Galeton, 3-2 (19-25, 25-18, 18-25, 25-19, 15-9).

         

Jadyn Brabham’s 26 kills and 22 digs helped Oswayo Valley rally for the win. She was aided by 12 kills and 10 digs from Macy West and 27 set assists, 14 digs and eight aces from Johanna Dickerson.

In the loss, Makenna Shuemaker paced the Lady Tigers offense with 15 assists and seven digs. Alli Macensky had 10 kills, five digs and a block while Alexis Johnson chipped on eight kills, 10 digs and a block.

UNION 3, NORTH CLARION 0

RIMERSBURG, Pa. – Morgan Cumberland had 14 set assists to help Union sweep visiting North Clarion, 3-0 (25-10, 25-2, 25-20).

Dominika Logue led the Lady Damsels with six kills, Drew Davis had five and Kiera Croyle added three.

Alana Brooke paced the She-Wolves with 12 digs with Melia Baumcratz chipping in six kills.

ROCKY GROVE 3, YOUNGSVILLE 2

SUGARCREEK BOROUGH, Pa. – Kennedi Winslow recorded 12 kills to help Rocky Grove beat visiting Youngsville, 3-2 (25-21, 15-25, 26-24, 23-25, 17-15).

Abby Williams added three kills and six aces, Devin Rhoads had 17 digs and five aces and Sarah Plumer chipped in four kills and four blocks.

ST. MARYS 3, RIDGWAY 1

ST. MARYS, Pa. – Meghan McGonnell netted 10 kills to help St. Marys to a 3-1 (25-18, 22-25, 27-25, 25-21) win over visiting Ridgway.

KARNS CITY 3, VENANGO CATHOLIC 0

KARNS CITY, Pa. – Ten assists and two digs from Emma Johns led Karns City over visiting Venango Catholic, 3-0 (25-12, 25-19, 25-14).

Ashley Fox had a pair of kills and three digs for the Lady Gremlins with Natalie Hess adding three kills.

Venango Catholic was paced by Cheyanne Rudder’s 11 dogs and six service points.

MAPLEWOOD 3, FRANKLIN 0

FRANKLIN, Pa. – Visiting Maplewood saw Chloe Leech record 10 kills in a 3-0 (25-10, 25-4, 25-12) win over Franklin.

Sadie Thomas added four kills and five aces, Avery Brunot and Kaysea Thomas each chipped in four kills as well and Madison Crawford had six digs.

CONNEAUT (PA) 3, OIL CITY 0

OIL CITY, Pa. – Conneaut (Pa.) picked up a 3-0 (25-8, 25-8, 25-15) win over homestanding Oil City.

Kaya Skinner had four kills for Oil City with Christa Schneider adding six set assists.

Conneaut stats weren’t available.

FORT LEBOEUF 3, GENERAL MCLANE 1

EDINBORO, Pa. – Mackenzie Kulik had 19 kills to lead visiting Fort LeBoeuf to a 3-1 (25-21, 21-25, 25-12, 25-11) win over General McLane.

Kerringten Wasiulewski ran the offense for the Bison with 25 assists, while Jordan Popowski added 13 digs.

CORRY 3, IROQUOIS 0

ERIE, Pa. – Rachel Brady had a team-best nine kills while adding seven digs to lead Corry to a 3-0 (25-11, 25-18, 25-20) win at Iroquois.

Allison Zaczkiewicz ran the offense for the Beavers with 19 set assists while adding nine digs, and Taylor Elchynski also had nine digs.

PUNXSUTAWNEY 3, CURWENSVILLE 0

PUNXSUTAWNEY, Pa. – An epic first set helped set the tone for a 3-0 (30-28, 25-18, 25-21) Punxsutawney win over visiting Curwensville.

Katelyn Griebel had 14 kills to lead Punxsutawney with Elliott Ferrent adding 12 kills and seven aces. Danielle Griebel ran the offense with 28 set assists.

MCDOWELL 3, ERIE 0

ERIE, Pa. – Abby Soboleski had 11 kills, five aces and five assists to lead McDowell to a 3-0 (25-9, 25-17, 25-8) win over Erie High.

Alyssa Radtke added a double-double with 12 set assists and 10 digs, Ava Fetzner had eight digs and si aces, Cassidy Cousins chipped in seven digs and Sarah Boyd had five digs.

CAMBRIDGE SPRINGS 3, EISENHOWER 0

RUSSELL, Pa. – Visiting Cambridge Springs swept to a 3-0 (25-12, 25-18, 25-12) win over Eisenhower.

Rayna Hultman led the Knights with 13 set assists, four aces, four kills and four digs, while Paige Edwards added four kills.

Cambridge Springs stats were unavailable.

DUBOIS 3, DUBOIS CENTRAL CATHOLIC 0

DUBOIS, Pa. – Behind eight kills and five aces, Nella Gregory helped DuBois earn a 3-0 (25-20, 25-12, 25-8) victory over visiting DuBois Central Catholic.

Emma Torretti and Ashlyn West each had nine digs for the Lady Beavers. Eden Galiczynski ran the offense with 18 set assists.

REDBANK VALLEY 3, BROOKVILLE 0

NEW BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Montana Hetrick tallied 12 kills and five service points to help Redbank Valley upend visiting Brookville, 3-0 (25-21, 25-14, 25-17).

Brooke Holben ran the Lady Bulldogs offense with 26 assists and 13 service points. Brianna Minich had six kills, Alivia Huffman added five and Brooke Smith chipped in four.

Brookville stats were not available.

JOHNSONBURG 3, BRADFORD 0</strong

BRADFORD, Pa. – Johnsonburg earned a 3-0 (25-18, 25-17, 25-14) road victory over Bradford.

In the loss, Emma Swanson had four kills while Alex Asp added three. Jessica Fox ran the offense with seven assists, a pair of kills and two blocks.

CRANBERRY 3, MONITEAU 2

SENECA, Pa. – Thanks to 30 set assists from Sara Allman, Cranberry upended visiting Moniteau, 3-2 (25-16, 23-25, 25-20, 12-25, 15-12).

Ava Ferringer had 16 kills and six blocks for the Berries with Mackenzie Karnes adding 10 kills and 10 digs. Jenna Reynolds chipped in 10 kills and three assists and Maria Anderson had a pair of blocks and eight kills.

Aslyn Pry had 18 kills and four blocks to lead Moniteau while Apryl Scott added seven kills and two aces, Ivia Scott five kills and four aces and Emily Zang six aces.
