Saturday Football: Erie High, Union City, Cathedral Prep Light Up the Scoreboard in Wins

Cathedral Prep's Dajoure Hollingsworth accounted for five touchdowns in a win over Canisius (NY).
   
   

CLEVELAND – Nyciere Smith ran for 101 yards as six different Erie players had a rushing touchdown in a 38-0 win over Shaw (Ohio).

Quani Darnell had a 54-yard touchdown run, while Keon Somerville, Tajhae Thomas, Natavion Tenon and Jefferson Barclay also found the end zone.

Darnell finished with 74 yards rushing and Somerville 72.

Somerville also had 35 yards receiving, as Darnell completed 5-of-14 passes for 41 yards.

Markel Pope had an interception for the Royals, while Barclay had two sacks to lead the shutout on defense.

            

UNION CITY 63, KENNEDY CATHOLIC 40

HERMITAGE, Pa. – Austin Kerns, Skylar Olmstead and Austin Brown all ran for over 100 yards as Union City outraced Kennedy Catholic, 63-40.

Olmstead rushed for 137 yards and two touchdowns, while Kerns had 124 yards and two scores and Brown finished with 113 yards and three touchdowns.

Union City led 26-18 at halftime, as Austin Sherwood also threw a 34-yard touchdown pass to Daithan Kent.

Rayvion Wilbon-Venable had a big game for Kennedy Catholic in the loss, going 12-of-23 for 179 yards while also rushing for 128 yards on 16 carries, accounting for four total touchdowns.

                          

Wilbon-Venable also returned a fumble for a score, while Damian Harrison and Brock Ondo both caught touchdown passes.

CATHEDRAL PREP 47, CANISIUS 36

BUFFALO – Dajoure Hollingsworth accounted for five touchdowns as Cathedral Prep bested Canisius, 47-36.

Hollingsworth opened the scoring with an 80-yard touchdown run and his 56-yard scoring scamper capped his brilliant day.

Trailing 21-19 at halftime, Prep outscored Canisius 28-0 in the third quarter on its way to evening its record at 1-1.

Luke Costello threw a 32-yard touchdown pass to Hollingsworth and also connected with Dan Oblich for a touchdown.

Tajoun Williams scored on an interception return for touchdown for the Ramblers.
