DUBOIS, Pa. – Owen Clouse scored two goals as Redbank Valley won its first District 9 Class 1A boys’ soccer title since 2001 with a 2-0 win over Karns City.
Rewatch the game:
Clouse’s goal in the first half came on a penalty kick at the 28:04 mark.
Not quite seven minutes later, it was Clouse again, this time on an assist from Kieran Fricko, making the score 2-0.
The Bulldogs made that score hold the rest of the way, keeping the high-powered Karns City offense off the scoreboard.
The win snapped a 27-game losing streak for Redbank Valley against the Gremlins.
With the win, Redbank Valley advances to play Burrell, the No. 3 team from the WPIAL, in the first round of the PIAA championships on Tuesday, Nov. 7.
