PSAC Football: Slippery Rock Makes Statement With Win Over IUP; Edinboro Tops Mercyhurst

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Khalid Dorsey rushed for 123 yards and three touchdowns as Slippery Rock made a statement with a 42-21 win over IUP. 

Slippery Rock led 28-6 at halftime.

Conneaut grad Kyle Sheets had five receptions for 131 yards for The Rock.

EDINBORO 40, MERCYHURST 24

            

EDINBORO, Pa. – The Edinboro offense racked up 266 rushing yards while the defense pitched a second half shutout in a 40-24 victory over Mercyhurst Saturday afternoon at Sox Harrison Stadium.

The Scots came out of the half trailing 24-21 when Reed Martin executed a perfect onside kick that Mike Flowers fielded at the Edinboro 49 yard line to set up possession for the Edinboro offense. Matt Carlisle rushed for 25 and passed for six more as the Scots moved the ball to the Mercyhurst 17 setting up Martin 34-yard field goal tying the game.

CALIFORNIA 37, CLARION 7

CALIFORNIA , Pa. – The Vulcans scored 27-straight points and surrendered less than 50 yards in the second half while earning a 37-7 win over Clarion at Adamson Stadium in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West action.

                          

Cal took a 7-0 lead early in the first quarter with a six-yard touchdown pass from junior Davis Black to freshman wide receiver D’Avay Johnson after the Vulcans recovered a fumble near midfield on the game’s opening drive.

GANNON 23, SETON HILL 6

GREENSBURG, Pa. – Gannon won a Homecoming game for the second straight week while improving to 2-3 overall and 2-0 in the PSAC West with a 23-6 win over Seton Hill.

Last week the Golden Knights celebrated their own Homecoming with a come-from-behind 27-20 win over Clarion. On Saturday, they spoiled Seton Hill’s thanks to a superb defensive effort and a strong ground game.
