It’s time to look to Week 2 of the college football season in the PSAC with quick hits.

QUICK HITS FOR PSAC TEAMS, WEEK 2:

SHIPPENSBURG: Shippensburg found itself within striking distance until the final play but could not pull off the upset against No. 24 Newberry College in its season opener.

SETON HILL: Seton Hill begins PSAC Crossover action with a home contest against Shippensburg, the seventh meeting all-time between the two schools.

MILLERSVILLE: Millersville won its first season opener since 2019, won its first season opener at home since 2012 and posted its largest margin of victory in an opener since that 2012 game.

            

GANNON: Redshirt senior placekicker Eric Scarpino gave Gannon a 6-3 lead in the third quarter with field goals of 27 and 35 yards. It’s the first time a Gannon kicker has made two-or-more field goals since last year’s Clarion game.

SHEPHERD: With 23 seconds left in regulation, Shepherd scored late to secure to a 27-26 win over Southern Connecticut State last Saturday.

EDINBORO: The Edinboro football team dropped an 49-7 decision to host FCS Duquesne Saturday afternoon in the season opener.

KUTZTOWN: Kurtis Ravenel Jr. put forth one of the finest days by a wide receiver in Kutztown University history with 217 yards and two touchdowns.

CALIFORNIA: California’s first games of the season against Alderson Broaddus was canceled so the Vulcans open the campaign when they host Kutztown on Sept. 9 at Adamson Stadium with kickoff set for 12 p.m.

                          

BLOOMSBURG: The Bloomsburg football team rallied from two scores down in the fourth quarter, but the comeback fell just short as Fairmont State hung on for a 34-30 win over the Huskies to open the season Thursday evening.

CLARION: The Golden Eagle football team held on for victory on the road on Thursday night, as Clarion defeated Lincoln (Pa.) 30-20 at LU Athletics Stadium.

EAST STROUDSBURG: East Stroudsburg posted the most points in a season opener since 2005 in a 62-9 triumph over Pace on Thursday night at Eiler-Martin Stadium.

IUP: The 16th-ranked IUP football program overcame some costly miscues and delivered down the stretch with key plays over the final two minutes in dispatching No. 12 Ashland by a 24-17 tally on Thursday night at Miller Stadium

WEST CHESTER: Fresh off a thrilling come-from-behind victory on the road at Bentley in the season opener last weekend, West Chester hits the road once again for a PSAC crossover against nationally ranked Slippery Rock on Saturday night at 6 p.m. inside Mihalik-Thompson Stadium.

SLIPPERY ROCK:Slippery Rock won its season opener for the 14th straight year dating back to 2008 and won its first home game of the year for the 15th straight year dating back to 2005.

LOCK HAVEN: Lock Haven’s week 1 win marked its fourth straight season-opening win and the first season-opening win at home since 2019 vs. Lincoln (W, 57-13). Overall, it’s the first win at home since 2019 season-finale vs. Gannon (Nov. 16, 2019), a 28-27 win.

MERCYHURST: Mercyhurst started its season on the road with a tough task as they faced the 2022 NCAA DII Champions, Ferris State. The Lakers came out hot in the early going and commanded the lead in the first, but in the end, fell by a final of 54-12.
