A quick look around the PSAC as teams are set to begin the 2023 season.

BLOOMSBURG- The Huskies return three All-PSAC East performers from last year in senior Quentin Gaskill and junior Kaleb Monaco and Matthew Bowes.

CLARION- The Golden Eagle rushing attack ranked fourth overall in the PSAC and tops in the PSAC West division in 2022, with the team averaging 161.5 yards per game on the ground.

GANNON- Erik Raeburn enters his fourth season as the head coach of the Golden Knights after joining the staff as the offensive coordinator in 2019. Reaburn plans on waiting until game-time to name a starting QB that will replace First-team All-PSAC West Honoree Kory Curtis.

IUP- IUP opens the 2023 season with three consecutive home games, including what figures to be a top-15 matchup in the opener with an NCAA DII Playoff rematch against Ashland.

MILLERSVILLE- Millersville’s defense boasts two of the top linebackers in the conference in Garrett Cox and Isaiah Onuschak. Top corners Gus Ross and Imir Lilliston also return as do starting safeties Steve Sweeney and Omar Ba.

SETON HILL- The Griffins offense returns its top two running backs from last season. RB Ky’Ron Craggette led the Griffins in rushing with 497 yards on 131 carries with 5 TDs, while JaiQuawn McGriff was close behind with 152 carries, 448 yards, and a pair of TDs.

EAST STROUDSBURG- ESU will have a fresh look at quarterback for the first time since 2018, with Jake Cirillo and Matt DeLaurentis graduating. The three candidates for the starting job are redshirt junior Aaron Tobias, redshirt sophomore Sean McTaggart, and Stony Brook transfer sophomore Charlie McKee.

MERCYHURST- Head Coach Ryan Riemedio took the helm for Mercyhurst in 2022 after former head coach Marty Shaetzle made 2021 his last season. Riemedio has spent 10 seasons on the sidelines for the Lakers as an assistant and now enters his second season as the head coach after a 2-9 record in year one.

SHEPHERD- Six All-Americans Tyson Bagent (QB), Ronnie Brown (RB), Joey Fisher (OL), Brian Walker (TE), Marlon Cook (WR), and Kyle Smith (DE) have departed from the 2022 squad.

SHIPPENSBURG- The Raider defense returns All-PSAC and All-Atlantic Region linebacker Matt Feeney. Feeney anchored the SU defense, leading the unit with in the 2022 season with 99 tackles and 19 tackles for loss.

KUTZTOWN- Defensively, the Golden Bears welcome back two of their top three tacklers from a season ago in linebackers Tyler Whary, who had 56 (5.0 TFL/4.0 sacks), and Kam Wolfe, who had 50 (5.0 TFL/2.5 sacks).

EDINBORO- Edinboro came out the 2022 season with a 5-6 overall record, and the second-best team in the PSAC at forcing turnovers where the Scots forced 21 turnovers. The Edinboro offense will look to limit turnovers after losing 32.

LOCK HAVEN- Overall, the Bald Eagles return six starters on offense and six starters on defense. Rounding out the new-look roster was the recent addition of eight talented transfers including players from Division I Alabama and Penn State.

WEST CHESTER- Offensively, West Chester returns its entire line up front. A unit that was very young in 2022, should be vastly improved and give the Golden Rams’ young quarterbacks time in the pocket and its young running backs room to run.

SLIPPERY ROCK- SRU has won at least a share of four straight PSAC West titles and eight of the last 11 PSAC West titles.
