Oct. 16, 2021 D10 Football: Northwestern Stays Perfect; Sharpsville, Wilmington Roll to Wins

   
   

ALBION, Pa. – Northwestern kept its perfect season intact with a hard-fought 22-7 win over Warren on Saturday.

Ryan Tewell tossed a pair of first-half touchdown passes, an 18-yard strike to Eric Dorr in the first half and a 9-yarder to Jordan Dohanic.

Tewell put the finishing touches on the game with a 1-yard scoring plunge in the fourth quarter, the only score by either team in the second half. He also added the 2-point conversion after his touchdown run.

The Dragons scored their lone touchdown of the game in the second quarter, as the big play connection of Eric Dippold to Ben White hooked up once again on an 82-yard touchdown.

White continued his big season with 147 yards receiving.

            

Lloyd Fountain had a strong game on the ground for the Wildcats with 143 yards.

Dippold threw for 207 yards and Tommy Nyquist had 55 yards rushing for the Dragons.

CONNEAUT (OHIO) 49, TITUSVILLE 14

CONNEAUT, OHIO – Kiefer Mandagelo threw for two touchdown passes, ran for another and also returned a kickoff for a touchdown as Conneaut (Ohio) downed Titusville in Region 3 action, 49-14.

The Spartans led 42-14 at halftime.

                          

Mandagelo threw touchdown passes of 44 yards to Robert Hagstrom and a 44-yarder to Zack Rice. His kickoff return covered 83 yards.

Rice had another big game for the Spartans as well, scoring on runs of 8 and 5 yards.

Garrett Knapp threw a pair of touchdown passes for Titusville, a 26-yarder to Jaxon Covell and a 3-yard toss to Brock Covell.

SHARPSVILLE 46, MERCER 0

MERCER, Pa. – Chris Roth rushed for a pair of touchdowns and Garen Levis caught a pair of touchdowns from Caullin Summers as Sharpsville blanked Mercer, 46-0.

The Blue Devils led 34-0 at halftime.

Roth scored on runs of one and two yards and finished with

Summers’ pass to Levis covered seven yards each. Ian Smith and Colby Johnson also added touchdown rushes for the Blue Devils.

Summers finished with 136 yards passing and Roth 75 yards on the ground.

Ethan Wiley had 32 yards passing and Jake Badger 23 yards rushing for Mercer.

                        

SENECA 16, UNION CITY 6

UNION CITY, Pa. – Nolan Seabury eclipsed 100 yards on the ground as Seneca picked up its second win of the season, 16-6 over Union City.

Anthony Buscemi scored on a 5-yard touchdown run in the first quarter that, coupled with the 2-point conversion, proved to be all that Seneca needed.

Seabury scored on a 45-yard run in the fourth quarter.

Union City’s touchdown run came courtesy of a 25-yard run from Kyler Shaffer.

Shaffer finished with 89 yards rushing and 42 passing for the Bears.

Buscemi added 85 yards on the ground for the Bobcats.

WILMINGTON 55, KENNEDY CATHOLIC 14

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – Luke Edwards had a big game as Wilmington rolled to a 55-14 win over Kennedy Catholic.

Edwards accounted for five total touchdowns – three rushing, one receiving and one on an interception return.

         

Edwards’ 12-yard run in the first quaarter got the scoring going, and he followed that with the pick-six.

Wilmington led 49-8 at halftime.

Edwards also scored on runs 29 and 15 yards and added a touchdown reception from Tuff McConahy.

Tyler Mikulin added a pair of touchdown runs for Wilmington.

Kennedy Catholic quarterback Rayvion Wilbon-Venable accounted for two touchdowns – one on a 54-yard rush and the other on a scoring strike to Jermaine Dunlap

CANISIUS (NY) 20, ERIE 14

ERIE, Pa. – Canisius scored a pair of second-quarter touchdowns en route to a 20-14 win over Erie.

For Erie, Andre Crockett Jr. had a 55-yard fumble return for a touchdown to get the scoring going.

Canisius’ two touchdowns in the second quarter came via a Tyler Baker touchdown run and a Baker to Mike Doctor touchdown pass.

Canisius extended its lead its lead to 20-6 in the fourth quarter on a Cureem Hathcock touchdown run.
