Meadville Wins Showdown With Corry; Warren Sweeps DuBois; Johnsonburg Upends Sheffield (Oct. 19 VB Recaps)

CORRY, Pa. – In a matchup of Region 4 and Region 5 champions and the top seeds in the D10 Class 2A and 3A playoffs, Meadville earned a 3-0 (25-23, 25-17, 25-23) win over Corry.

Emma Parks once again led the offensive attack for Meadville with 24 kills, while Elliott Schleicher ran the offense with 38 set assists.

Ellie Kellick had five kills for Meadville, while defensively, Kendall Mealy had 22 digs and Sydney Holt 14 digs.

Grace Allen led the offensive charge for Corry with nine kills, while Halle Albers and Sadye Dyne had seven each.

Payton McCray had 15 set assists and Kendyll Chamberlin 12 for the Beavers, while Albers had 14 digs, Makenna Moore 11 digs and Sydney Woods 10 digs.

            

WARREN 3, DUBOIS 0

WARREN, Pa. – Alexia Bowers had 11 kills, 10 digs and two blocks as Warren closed out the regular season with a 3-0 (25-21, 25-14, 25-15) win over DuBois.

Bowers, who earned Allegheny Grille of Foxburg Player of the Game honors, led a balanced Warren effort.

                          

“We were just all around ready,” Bowers said during the Cole Orthodontic Associates Player of the Game interview. “I think we’re playing great. We’re working hard in practice, doing a bunch of drills. We’re ready to come back for Meadville.”

Maddy Jones had 10 kills, four aces and 11 digs for the Dragons, while Kylie Fehlman had five kills, six blocks and there digs, Madelyn Nosel six kills and three aces and Lilly Newton three kills and two blocks.

Also for the Dragons, Lindsay Madigan ran the offense with 32 set assists to go along with nine digs and three blocks, while Summer Lucks had 17 digs and three aces and Lily Walker four digs.

For DuBois, Morgan Pasternak had eight kills and 18 digs, while Ava Baronick had five kills, two aces and nine digs and Haley Reed 13 set assists, three kills, eight digs and one ace.

JOHNSONBURG 3, SHEFFIELD 2

JOHNSONBURG, Pa. – Marlee Cherry had 21 kills and 10 blocks as Johnsonburg upended Sheffield in five sets (27-25, 19-25, 22-25, 25-17, 15-9).

Kiera Marciniak helped lead the comeback for the Ramettes with 15 kills and seven blocks, while Cadence Brechtel ran the offense with 48 set assists to go along with 11 digs and four aces.

Maria Casilio led the Johnsonburg defense with 18 digs as well as three aces.

                        

Peyton Wotorson and Kassidy Orinko both had 16 kills for Sheffield, while Orinko also had eight blocks, Emily Foster nine blocks and Emily Davidson 29 digs.

BROOKVILLE 3, ST. MARYS 2

BROOKVILLE, Pa. – Eden Wonderling had eight kills as Brookville rallied for a 3-2 (18-25, 25-23, 14-25, 26-24, 15-11) win over St. Marys.

Julie Monnoyer had seven kills, while Whtiney Guth had four gills and Averi Pangallo had two kills and three blocks for the Raiders.

For St. Marys, Jianna Gerg had a team-high 17 kills, while Rylee Nicklas and Hanna Ritter had 11 kills apiece and Molly Hanslovan 20 set assists.

         

FORT LEBOEUF 3, GENERAL MCLANE 0

WATERFORD, Pa. – Mya Stolz had 10 kills as Fort LeBoeuf beat General McLane, 3-0 (25-17, 25-20, 25-14).

Also for the Bison, Tessa Bellis had 14 set assists and five digs, Kayleigh Anderson eight kills, and Mackenzie Gladon five digs and five set assists.

BROCKWAY 3, KANE 1

BROCKWAY, Pa. – Mecca Smith had 28 set assists to go along with six digs as Brockway earned a 3-1 (25-19, 23-25, 25-18, 26-24) win over Kane.

Kalina Powell had 29 digs, four set assists and two aces for the Rovers, while Sophia Schmader had nine kills, two aces, 10 digs and two blocks, Tehya Shaw had two kills and four blocks, Lauren Rendos 19 kills and nine digs and Bella Parton five kills and two blocks.

For Kane, Mia Andreson had 12 kills and five blocks, while Arianna Greville had seven kills, Maya Smith six kills and 13 digs, Leah Tigani 28 digs and Elizabeth Yasurek 31 set assists.

ELK COUNTY CATHOLIC 3, DUBOIS CENTRAL CATHOLIC 0

DUBOIS, Pa. – Reagan Bauer had 15 kills and Tori Newton 13 kills and six aces as Elk County Catholic, swept DuBois Central Catholic, 25-9, 25-16, 25-22 to put the finishing touches on a 14-0 regular season.

Lucy Klawuhn had five kills and Kiri Emmert 38 set assists for the Crusaders.

NORTH EAST 3, ERIE 0

NORTH EAST, Pa. – Cadence Jones had 20 kills as North East swept Erie High, 25-8, 25-13, 25-12.

Grace Sanfilippo had 35 set assists and 11 digs for North East, while Jones also added five digs.

Also for the Grape Pickers, Aleksandra Tupper had nine digs, Alison Gibson five kills, Briell King 13 digs, Kayla Forsythe eight kills, Anna Swan eight digs and Jalyssa Wicker six kills.

SLIPPERY ROCK 3, FAIRVIEW 1

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Slippery Rock picked up a 3-1 (25-20, 23-25, 25-20, 25-14) win over Fairview.

For Fairview, Maddie Weber had 14 kills, while Amelia Pasinski had 11 kills, Kate Granger 10 kills, Addy Greene 43 set assists and Taylor Polach 19 digs.
