BROCKWAY, Pa. – Clinging to a two-point lead with just under 5 ½ minutes to go, Moniteau went on a 7-0 run over the next 2 ½ minutes on its way to a 51-41 win over Coudersport in the District 9 Class 2A girls’ semifinal game at Brockway High School Wednesday night.

Rewatch the game

The Lady Warriors (18-5), who are making their second straight appearance in the D9 title game, led 39-37 with 5:24 to go when Savannah Myers hit a 3-pointer, the fourth Coudy triple in a three-minute span.

That ended a 14-1 run by the Lady Falcons (20-5), who trailed 38-23 following a Catherine Kelly layup in the third quarter.

But seniors Kelly and Abbey Jewart came up big for Moniteau.

Kelly, who has scored 99 points in her last three games including 31 Wednesday night, hit two free throws to make it a four-point game. Jewart, who hadn’t scored, then hit a 3-pointer to make it a seven-point lead, 44-37.

After Kelly hit two more charity shots, the lead was 46-37, and the contest was pretty much over.

A strong first half helped Moniteau take a 31-17 halftime lead thanks to 18 points from Kelly.

In addition to the 31 points, Kelly also had 11 rebounds.

Allie Pry added nine points and four steals in the win, while Jewart dished out six assists to go with her three points.

Coudersport got 12 points from Hallie Rigas, who hit a pair of 3-pointers during the 14-1 run, while Sierra Myers added nine points and 11 rebounds.

Moniteau will face Redbank Valley in the title game at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, March 2, at PennWest Clarion’s Tippin Gym.
