Karns City Boys Set to Battle Old Forge in Second Round of PIAA Class 2A Playoffs

LEWISTOWN, Pa. – After having their PIAA Class 2A second round game postponed a day, the Karns City boys basketball team is set to battle Old Forge on Sunday for a berth in the quarterfinals.

Karns City, the District 9 third-place team, is coming off a 46-45 win over Penns Manor, while Old Forge rolled past District 4 champion Wyalusing, 59-30.

Taite Beihley’s old-school 3-point play with about four seconds left lifted Karns City (20-7) to the dramatic first-round win. Beighley finished with 18 points in the game, while Luke Cramer had 12, Cole Sherwin eight and Micah Rupp six.

Joe Macciocco scored 25 points in Old Forge’s (16-9) first-round win, with the defending PIAA semifinalists, while Ayden Davitt added 19 points.

                                      

The winner will move on to face the Lancaster Mennonite (3-1, 17-9)/Paul Robeson winner in the quarterfinals on Wednesday.
