Jan. 5, 2022 Wrestling: Cochranton Tops Eisenhower; Cambridge Springs, McDowell Nab Wins

RUSSELL, Pa. – Cochranton picked up an impressive 48-21 Region 2 win over Eisenhower on Wednesday.

                        

The Cardinals got pins from Chaden Hart (120), Chris Maynard (172), Louden Gledhill (189) and Ramy Sample (285).

In the marquee matchup of the night, Cochranton’s Stetson Boozer earned a 9-3 win over Gannon Jaquay. Willis Morrell earned a 9-5 win over Shawn Pascuzzi at 145 and the Cardinals also got three forfeit victories.

Boozer talked about the win afterward.

Tucker Lindell got a pin at 152 for Eisenhower, while Cael Black picked up win No. 101 of his career via forfeit.

CAMBRIDGE SPRINGS 60, YOUNGSVILLE 18

YOUNGSVILLE, Pa. – Cambridge Springs won six matches by fall and four by forfeit in a 60-18 win over Youngsville.

Gunnar Gage (138), Chase Beck (152), Jackson Carico (189), Tyler Shepard (285), Preston Gorton (120) and Jacob Hauf (126) all got pins for the Blue Devils.

Logan McDonald got a pin for Youngsville at 145. The Eagles also had two forfeit victories.

                          

MCDOWELL 43, WARREN 28

WARREN, Pa. – McDowell got four pins in a 43-28 win over Warren.

Logan Carrick (145), Artis Simmons (152), Ray Jackson (189), and Toy Peterson (215) won by fall for the Trojans who also got victories from Nasir Simmons (113, decision), Conner Dvorak (126, major decision) and a pair of forfeits.

The Dragons received three forfeits and also got wins from Damien Sanchez (172, pin) and Josh Letko (138, 11-3 major decision).

SAEGERTOWN 57, UNION CITY 15

SAEGERTOWN, Pa. – Saegertown got five forfeits and four pins in a 57-15 win over Union City.

Porter Brooks (215), Owen Hershelman (126), Gregory Kiser (138), and Gabriel Jordan (152) all got pins for Saegertown. Keenen Schaaf (172) won by decision for the Panthers.

Clay Thomas got a pin for Union City at 160 and Hayden Hebner a 7-3 decision at 132.

CORRY 51, MAPLEWOOD 9

CORRY, Pa. – Corry got three wins by forfeit, two by pin, and also got a major fall and a tech fall in a 51-9 win over Maplewood.

                           

Isaiah Bayle (113) and Hunter Savitz (145) got pins, while Trey Proper (152) got a tech fall and Kayden Reyda (132) a major decision. William Allen also got an 8-3 decision at 126.

Andrew Proper (138, decision) and Gregory Roae (160, pin) got wins for Maplewood.

HICKORY 40, SHARPSVILLE 30

SHARPSVILLE, Pa. – Hickory got three forfeits and a pair of pins in a 40-30 win over Sharpsville.

Ty Holland (189) and Connor Saylor (138) got falls for the Hornets, while Carter Gill (160) won by major decision.

David Moyer (172), Michael Brennemann (215), Jonathan Bissell (132) and Caullin Summers (145) got pins for the Blue Devils, while Alex Rueberger (126) and Max Hernandez won by decision.

GROVE CITY 41, MERCER 18

MERCER, Pa. – Grove City picked up five forfeits in a 41-18 win over Mercer.

Hunter Hohman won by tech fall at 152 for the Eagles, while Alex Hackwelder got a pin at 160.

Carter Wise (113, pin), Colin Wise (120, decision), Matthew Knopp (126, decision), and Zach Chze (132, pin), all got victories for Mercer.

SLIPPERY ROCK 30, SHARON 24

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Slippery Rock picked up three forfeits and two pins in a 30-24 win over Sharon.

Tony Pilosi (189) and Ryan Double (120) got falls for Slippery Rock.

Eli Buck (152, pin), Mohamed Kanen (160, decision), Shamar Anderson (172, decision), David Beadnell (215, decision), Mike Mazurek (285, pin), and Ernest Conoway (126, decision) all got wins for Sharon.

NORTHWESTERN 54, NORTH EAST 9

ALBION, Pa. – Northwestern got four forfeits and three pins in a 54-9 win over North East.

Ben Campbell (215), Lloyd Fountain (145) and Ryan Twentier (152) got pins for the Wildcats, while Sierra Chiesa got a 2-1 decision at 120, Gabe Lopez a 12-0 major decision at 132, and Austin Mello a tech fall at 160.

Devon Dixon got a 15-9 decision at 113 for North East.
