Jan. 13, 2022 D10 Girls’ Hoops: McCoy Powers Slippery Rock Past Conneaut (Pa.); Sharpsville, Maplewood Notch Key Region Wins

Slippery Rock's Bronwyn McCoy scored 20 points in a Region 5 win over Conneaut.

LINESVILLE, Pa. – Bronwyn McCoy poured in 20 points as Slippery Rock earned a 48-27 Region 5 win over Conneaut.

Included in McCoy’s effort was a 10-of-13 performance from the free-throw line.

Ella McDermott added 12 points for the Rockets, while Katie Book added 10. The Rockets led 22-11 at halftime en route to the win.

Jaelyn Blood had 10 points for Conneaut and Hannah Brady nine. Brady added five rebounds and Rylee Jones seven assists and three steals.

GROVE CITY 50, MEADVILLE 18

                                      

GROVE CITY, Pa. – Delaney Callahan had another strong game with 18 points as Grove City earned a 50-18 Region 5 win over Meadville.

Callahan scored nine points in the third quarter.

Izzie Gamble added 11 points and Emma Santom nine for Grove City. Callahan added six rebounds, Gamble five boards and Piper Como had a strong all-around game with eight steals, seven assists, and five rebounds.

Phoebe Templin had 14 points for Meadville.

WARREN 50, CORRY 9

                          

WARREN, Pa. – Riley Childress and Emma Ruhlman scored 14 points each as Warren earned a 50-9 Region 6 win over Corry.

Warren led 28-6 at halftime en route to the win.

Sammie Ruhlman netted seven points for Warren, Gracie Ruhlman six, and Alyssa Farr five.

Rachel Brady had four points for Corry.

SHARPSVILLE 45, WILMINGTON 17

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – Alli Davis scored 12 points and pulled down five rebounds as Sharpsville earned a 45-17 Region 4 win over Wilmington.

The Blue Devils led 24-2 after the first quarter en route to the win.

Chase Fry had 10 points and five rebounds for the Blue Devils, while Breanna Hanley added eight points and 10 rebounds, Tori Kimpan six points and three blocks and Ady Kratko five points and five assists.

Lia Krarup had six points for Wilmington.

MAPLEWOOD 64, COCHRANTON 40

                                   

COCHRANTON, Pa. – Sadie Thomas, Bailey Varndell and Izzy Eimer combined for 54 points in a 64-40 Region 2 win over Cochranton.

Thomas scored 19 points, while Barndell had 18 and Eimer 17.

Maplewood outscored Cochranton 32-14 in the second half.

Ella Gallo scored 14 points and Jaylin McGill nine for Cochranton.

UNION CITY 52, SENECA 34

UNION CITY, Pa. – Cathryn Reynolds scored 19 points as Union City earned a 52-34 Region 2 win over Seneca.

The Bears outscored the Bobcats 17-3 in the fourth quarter en route to the win.

Abby Tingley added eight points and Lucy Higley seven for Union City.

Khyli Peterson scored 13 points for Seneca.

MERCYHURST PREP 53, NORTH EAST 32

NORTH EAST, Pa. – Anna Tranum led three Mercyhurst Prep players in double figures with 18 points as the Lakers earned a 53-32 win over North East in Region 3 action.

Mercyhurst Prep, which led 28-10 at halftime, also got 10 points apiece from Olivia Kulyk and Sadie Messer.

Alex Cozzens, Grace Sanfilippo and Ellie Sebolt had eight points each for North East.

VILLA MARIA 55, ERIE 17

ERIE, Pa. – Carissa Dunham scored 17 points as Villa powered past Erie in Region 6 action, 55-17.

                                  

Jayden McBride added 12 points and Addie Biel seven for Villa, which built a 29-7 halftime lead on its way to the win.

Arianna Mitchell and Kamryn Flowers had four points apiece for Erie.

LAKEVIEW 65, TITUSVILLE 12

TITUSVILLE, Pa. – Reese Gadsby scored 19 points as Lakeview earned a 65-12 win over Titusville.

Amber Sefton added 15 points and Emma Marstellar seven for Lakeview, which scored 44 points in the first half on its way to the win.

Lilly Tucker had six points for Titusville.

GREENVILLE 57, SHARON 26

SHARON, Pa. – Grace Cano led three Greenville players in double figures with 18 points in a 57-26 win over Sharon.

Josie Lewis added 17 points and Reese Schaller 11 for Greenville, which led 33-10 at halftime en route to the win.

Lacey Root had nine points for Sharon.

MCDOWELL 48, GENERAL MCLANE 33

EDINBORO, Pa. – McDowell jumped out to a 14-0 lead over General McLane en route to a 48-33 Region 6 victory.

Kaeli Bennett led a balanced effort with 12 points, while Caylen Spano added 10.

Louisa Opp had 11 points to pace GM.
