Jackson, Perez Send J’burg Past Brookville; Kanne Hits 10 3’s in Prep Victory; Warren Gets Back to Winning Ways

JOHNSONBURG, Pa. – On a night that saw three different players achieve career highs, Johnsonburg had two of those in a 59-49 win over visiting Brookville.

Isaiah Jackson tied a career- and season-high with 25 points to lead the Rams (9-5). He also scored 25 vs. Moniteau on Dec. 1 and against St. Marys on Dec. 28.

In addition, Eli Perez had a career-best 15 points marking back-to-back games he has set a career-high in scoring. He scored 14 vs. Sheffield Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Brookville’s Kellan Haines also had a career night with a career-best 28 points topping the career-high of 25 points he had on Jan. 10 vs. West Branch.

                                      

Jake Pete chipped in 15 points for the Raiders (6-6).

CATHEDRAL PREP 73, HARBOR CREEK 52

HARBORCREEK, Pa. – Spencer Kanne erupted for 33 points as Cathedral Prep powered past Harbor Creek in Region 7 action, 73-52.

The Ramblers (7-8 overall, 4-1 Region 7) led 37-22 at half, but Kanne did most of his work in the second half, burying seven of his 10 made 3’s and scoring 22 of his 33 points, including a 4-point play.

Amaree Pickens was also in double figures for Prep with Michael Thompson chipping in with nine points.

                          

Braylen Wilson had a double-double for the Huskies (7-8, 1-4) with 17 points and 18 rebounds, while JT DelSandro had 15 points and Tucker Chwatek 12.

WARREN 84, CONNEAUT 34

WARREN, Pa. – Brady Berdine scored 18 of his game-high 25 points in the first quarter as Warren ended a 2-game skid with an 84-34 Region 6 win over Conneaut.

With Warren (11-2 overall, 1-1 Region 6) leading 9-6 early in the first quarter, Berdine hit a free throw to start a 13-2 run that stretched the lead to 22-8. Berdine scored seven of the Dragons’ 13 points during that run.

“Just to know that you can come out here and go up and down the court and get a bunch of baskets, you just want more,” Berdine said during his Cole Orthodontic Associates postgame interview. “You just want to keep going.”

Conneaut (7-6, 1-1) took the lead, 3-2, on an Alex Brady 3-pointer. The Eagles never led again.

Warren increased the lead to 33-15 at the end of the first quarter, and led 51-25 at the half.

It was exactly the type of performance the Dragons needed following a tough loss at Franklin earlier in the week.

                                   

“It definitely feels great, especially by this much,” Berdine said. “It really brings our confidence back. It’s almost like a statement game. We lost those games (and) we really shouldn’t have lost the Franklin game. I think just coming out here, giving it what we had, we did what we needed to do.”

Shakiir Jordan, Aiden Tyson, Gage Long, and Brady each scored seven points for the Eagles.

Berdine led a trio of Dragons in double figures. Braylon Barnes had 15 points and Logan Crissey had 10.

ELK COUNTY CATHOLIC 33, RIDGWAY 20

ST. MARYS, Pa. – A quick start helped Elk County Catholic slog past Ridgway, 33-20, in AML action in St. Marys.

The Crusaders (15-0 overall, 8-0 AML North) led 10-2 at the end of the first quarter and never looked back.

Jordan Wasko led ECC with 12 points with Colby Nussbaum adding seven.

Hunter Beeler had nine tallies for Ridgway (4-7, 0-2 AML South).

SAEGERTOWN 71, CAMBRIDGE SPRINGS 52

SAEGERTOWN, Pa. – Cody Huson scored 20 points as Saegertown picked up a key Region 3 win over Cambridge Springs, 71-52.

The Panthers (9-5 overall, 4-1 Region 3) took a 38-22 halftime advantage on their way to claiming sole possession of second place in the region.

Huson scored 13 of his 20 points in the first half, one of four Panthers in double figures. Jakson Scott had 16 points, while Colin Jones and Luke Young had 13 apiece. Sam Draa also added nine points.

Tyler Troutman was the lone Cambridge Springs (8-5, 3-2) player in double figures, scoring 14 of his 19 points in the second half.

BRADFORD 63, COUDERSPORT 34

BRADFORD, Pa. – Nine different Bradford players scored in a 63-34 home win over Coudersport.

                                  

Chase Wineberg led the balanced output with 12 tallies while Brendan Warner added 11.

Also for the Owls (7-7), Adam Ward and Jake Franz each had eight points and Marcus Terwilliger and Talan Reese each scored seven points.

Mason Roessner led Coudersport (7-7) with 15 points with Reilly Streich chipping in nine tallies.

CRANBERRY 74, VENANGO CATHOLIC 36

OIL CITY, Pa. – Getting scoring contributions from 12 different players, Cranberry rolled to a 74-36 non-league win at Venango Catholic.

Ethan Merryman led the Berries (9-5) with 11 points, Blake Marchinke added 10 points, Connor Morrow had nine tallies, and Landon Baker and Zach Shebeck each scored eight points.

Konner Beichner had a game-high 15 points for Venango Catholic (0-12) with Kyle Beichner and Christian Kluck each adding nine points. Kluck hit three 3-pointers.

FRANKLIN 83, TITUSVILLE 19

TITUSVILLE, Pa. – Jalen Wood led four Franklin players in double figures with 24 points in an 83-19 Region 6 win over Titusville.

Wood, the hero of Tuesday’s win over Warren, also knocked down four 3’s in the victory.

Cole Buckley tallied 17 points for Franklin (9-4 overall, 2-0 Region 6), while Demarco Payne had 12 and Darrius Graham 10.

Isiah Colon had 13 points for Titusville (5-8, 0-2).

ERIE 66, FORT LEBOEUF 42

WATERFORD, Pa. – Chelo Brewington led three Erie players in double figures with 14 points in a 66-42 Region 7 win over Fort LeBoeuf.

Leading 28-23 at halftime, Erie (9-4 overall, 4-1 Region 7) went on a 25-4 run in the third quarter to pull away.

Jaheim Mims added 11 points for Erie, while Jamarrius Johnson added 10.

Carson Papay had 10 points and Charlie Imler nine for the Bison (6-9, 1-5).

OIL CITY 53, CORRY 37

OIL CITY, Pa. – Oil City jumped out to a 12-3 lead after the first quarter and never looked back in a 53-37 Region 6 win over Corry.

Sayyid Donald led Oil City with a game-high 20 points, including a 7-of-9 effort from the charity stripe.

Chase Melat and Will McMahon scored 12 and 10 points, respectively for the Oilers (11-3 overall, 2-0 Region 6), while Jon Hargenrader added seven.

Rylan Smith had 19 points to lead Corry (11-3, 1-1), while Markus Lambert added nine.

HICKORY 81, GREENVILLE 52

GREENVILLE, Pa. – Rylan Dye had 28 points and six assists as Hickory picked up an 81-52 Region 5 win over Greenville.

Leading 34-31 at halftime, Hickory (9-4 overall, 1-1 Region 5) scored 33 points in the third quarter, going on a 33-11 to take command.

Dye scored 16 of his points in the third quarter surge, one of four Hickory players in double figures. Ryan Robich and Dom Uberti had 15 points each, while Landon Bean tallied 11.

Robich also had six rebounds and three assists, while Trevor Borowicz pulled down 14 rebounds.

Mason Vannoy had 18 points and Noah Cano 10 for Greenville (8-6, 1-1).

EISENHOWER 72, UNION CITY 32

UNION CITY, Pa. – Casey Seymour, Austin Hanson and Derek Guiher scored 16 points each as Eisenhower kept its spot atop the Region 3 standings with a 72-32 win over Union City.

The Knights (12-2 overall, 5-0 Region 3) scored 50 points in the first half on their way to the win.

Gavin Lindemuth was also in double figures for Eisenhower with 10 points.

Brady Blakeslee led Union City (1-13, 0-5) with eight points.

ROCKY GROVE 55, KENNEDY CATHOLIC 43

HERMITAGE, Pa. – Rocky Grove jumped out to a 14-2 lead in the first quarter on its way to a 55-43 Region 1 win over Kennedy Catholic.

It was a first quarter that saw six different Orioles (9-5 overall, 1-0 Region 1) make a shot.

Landen Carter was one of those players for Rocky Grove, but he did most of his damage in the second half, scoring 17 of his team-high 20 points over the final 16 minutes.

Noah Baughman tallied 16 points for the Orioles, while Schiffer Anderson added 10.

Kameron Gwin tallied a game-high 24 points for Kennedy Catholic (2-5, 0-2).

MERCER 48, LAKEVIEW 32

STONEBORO, Pa. – Leading 23-16 at halftime, Dae Mattocks scored all 14 third-quarter points for Mercer to help them pull away for a 48-32 Region 2 win over Lakeview.

Mattocks finished with a game-high 17 points, one of three Mercer players in double figures.

Christian Grossman scored eight of his 13 points in the fourth quarter for the Mustangs (11-3 overall, 2-0 Region 1), while Bubba Palmer tallied 10.

Keaten Urey paced Lakeview (10-5, 0-1) with 11 points.

SHARPSVILLE 70, REYNOLDS 40

SHARPSVILLE, Pa.- Dalton Bylerly had 24 points and 11 rebounds as Sharpsville beat Reynolds, 70-40.

Mack Staunch also had a big game for Sharpsville (4-12 overall, 1-1 Region 1) with 20 points and 11 rebounds, while Carter DeJulia added nine points.

Andrew McCloskey had 10 points for Reynolds (3-12, 0-2)

COCHRANTON 58, YOUNGSVILLE 48

COCHRANTON, Pa. – Walker Carroll poured in 25 points to lead Cochranton to a 58-48 Region 3 win over Youngsville.

Leading 23-22 at halftime, Cochranton (5-8 overall, 3-2 Region 3) went on a 12-6 spurt in the third quarter to gain some breathing room.

Carroll scored 10 of his points in the fourth quarter to help put the game away for the Cardinals, while Brady Rynd tallied 19 points in the win.

Rylan Benton had a big game in the loss for Youngsville (7-7, 2-2) with 25 points, including five 3’s, while Ethan Beers tallied 10 points.

SLIPPERY ROCK 59, WILMINGTON 22

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – Slippery Rock raced out to a 22-4 lead after the first quarter on its way to a 59-22 Region 5 win over Wilmington.

Josh Book led three Slippery Rock (9-5 overall, 1-1 Region 5) players in double figures with 16 points, while Anderson Franco had 11 and Levi Prementine 10.

Landon Kline had nine points and Will Bruckner eight for Wilmington (0-14, 0-2).

FAIRVIEW 63, ERIE FIRST CHRISTIAN 42

ERIE, Pa. – Eleven different Fairview players scored in a 63-42 Region 4 win over Erie First Christian.

Anthony Laboda and Tyler DiVecchio had 10 points each for Fairview (5-9 overall, 4-2 Region 4), while Sam Work and Archie Murphey had nine apiece.

Avery Collins led Erie First Christian (2-11, 0-6) with 15 points.

FARRELL 71, COMMODORE PERRY 36

FARRELL, Pa. – Simeir Wade led four Farrell players in double figures in a 71-36 win over Commodore Perry.

Juelz Johnson had 12 points and 10 rebounds for the Steelers (10-3 overall, 2-0 Region 1), while Danny Odem had 13 points and JuJu Phillips 10.

Kyle Stringert had 15 points to lead Commodore Perry (5-9, 1-1).

GIRARD 62, SENECA 46

WATTSBURG, Pa. – Geremia Dell’omo led three Girard players in double figures with 17 points as the Jackets stayed atop the Region 4 standings with a 62-46 win over Seneca.

Girard (13-1 overall, 6-0 Region 4) led 32-21 at halftime en route to the win.

Kenny Godoy tallied 16 points and Nate Edwards 14 for Girard.

Lucas Rupp made four 3’s and finished with a game-high 18 points for Seneca (4-10, 3-3), while Nolan Seabury had 13 points.

IROQUOIS 56, NORTHWESTERN 45

ALBION, Pa. – Iroquois outscore Northwestern 19-8 in the fourth quarter on its way to a 56-45 Region 4 win

Kellen Burroughs had 11 points for Iroquois (9-5 overall, 5-1 Region 4), while Colton Carpenter had 10 and Orlando Brown nine.

Jack Miller had 16 points and Jacob Regelmann 11 for Northwestern (0-14, 0-6).
