Great Serving Helps Corry Knock off Clarion; North Clarion Beats A-C Valley; Iroquois Gets Win (Sept. 12 VB Recaps)

CLARION, Pa. – Using great serving to keep Clarion out of system all night long, Corry swept the homestanding Lady Cats, 3-0 (25-22, 25-20, 25-22).

The Beavers had at minimum nine aces in the match but also forced Clarion into a number of free balls all night long to pick up their second consecutive strong road win after a 3-0 win at Conneaut Thursday.

Makenna Moore led the way with six aces and 18 digs and was named the Allegheny Grille of Foxburg Player of the Match. She talked about the win on the Cole Orthodontic Associates Player interview.

            

Halle Albers paced the Corry offense with 11 kills while also adding 12 digs, while Payton McCray ran the offense with 32 set assists and added eight digs. Grace Allen also had 10 kills.

Hadlee Campbell had eight kills, 13 digs, and an ace for Clarion with Marley Kline and Taylor Alston each adding four kills. Alston also had 10 set assists and five digs, while Natalie Durish added six digs.

NORTH CLARION 3, A-C VALLEY 1

FOXBURG, Pa. – North Clarion used a balanced offensive effort to pick up a 3-1 (25-23, 25-19, 15-25, 25-14) road win over A-C Valley.

                          

Brenna Thompson led the She-Wolves with six kills, two blocks, three aces, and three digs with Alexa Carrll adding five kills, three blocks, and two digs. Kyler Freeman chipped in four kills, three blocks, six aces, and three digs with McKenzie Lencer contributing two kills and three blocks.

Ainsley Hartle ran the offense for North Clarion with 16 set assists while adding five digs, three aces, and two blocks, Julia Daum had six blocks, and Zoey Byhman added seven digs.

Maddy Dehart had eight kills, eight digs, and two blocks for A-C Valley with Bella Ielase adding five kills and 12 digs and Lexi Altman 14 set assists.

IROQUOIS 3, ERIE FIRST CHRISTIAN 1

ERIE, Pa. – After dropping a hotly contest first set, Iroquois won the final three sets for a 3-1 (23-25, 25-12, 25-19, 26-24) home win over Erie First Christian.

Grace Abele led the Braves with 14 kills with Riann Donoggue adding five kills and Karina Reichard four kills. Anna McShane served four aces, and Mila Gehrlein-Carpenter ran the offense with 22 set assists.

AUSTIN 3, COWANESQUE VALLEY 1

WESTFIELD, Pa. – Missing just six serves in the entire match, Austin went on the road and beat Cowanesque Valley, 3-1 (25-22, 16-25, 25-18, 25-16).

Savannah Horton had 13 kills and three aces for the Lady Panthers while Marah Fowler ran the offense with 34 set assists and added nine digs and three aces. Ella Brewer had a slew of digs as well with 31.

FORT LEBOEUF 3, SAEGERTOWN 1

                        

SAEGERTOWN, Pa. – Three players reached double digits in kills to lead Fort LeBoeuf to a 3-1 (26-24, 25-22, 20-25, 25-22) win at Saegetrtown.

Katelynn Olmstead had a double-double for the Bison with 14 kills and 12 digs, Kylie Peters added 12 kills, and Mya Stolz had 10 kills from her middle hitter spot.

Ella McGovan added seven kills and nine digs for Fort LeBoeuf, while Blla Johnson had 19 digs.

Mackenzie Gaidon ran the Fort LeBoeuf offense with 24 set assists while adding seven digs, and Tessa Bellis helped with 10 set assists while chipping in six digs.

Brywn McLaughlin had 10 kills for Saegertown with Alyssa Arblaster adding nine kills and Lyndzee Amory seven kills. McLaughlin also had four blocks

         

Lindsey Greco ran the offense for the Panthers with 31 set assists while Rylie Braymer paced the defense with 15 digs. Greco and Kacie Mook each added eigh digs. t

DUBOIS CENTRAL CATHOLIC 3, JOHNSONBURG 1

JOHNSONBURG, Pa. – After dropping the first set on the road to Johnsonburg, DuBois Central Catholic rallied to win three straight sets on its way to a 3-1 (22-25, 25-22, 25-14, 25-23) win over the Ramettes.

Kayley Risser led DCC with nine kills with Emma Ellenskyu adding two kills, nine blocks, and two aces. Lydia Morgan chipped in six kills and five aces, and Jessy Frank had six kills and three aces.

Marlee Cherry had 10 kills and six blocks for Johnsonburg with Kiera Marciniak adding seven kills and seven blocks and Natalie Dunworth five kills, nine digs, and two aces.

Cadence Brechtel ran the offense for the Ramettes with 26 set assists while adding three blocks and two aces, and Maria Caililio had 19 digs and an ace.

MEADVILLE 3, HARBOR CREEK 0

MEADVILLE, Pa. – Emma Parks had 19 kills, eight digs, and seven aces to help Meadville to a 3-0 (25-15, 25-14, 25-8) home win over Harbor Creek.

Sydney Holt added five kills and 14 digs with Kendall Mealy chipping in 12 digs.

Elliott Schlicher ran the offense for the Bulldogs with 30 set assists.

OSWAYO VALLEY 3, BRADFORD 0

SHINGLEHOUSE, Pa. – Makenna Manning had seven kills, four digs, three blocks, and two aces to help Oswayo Valley to a 3-0 (25-15, 25-14, 25-8) sweep of visiting Bradford.

Layken Enty added three kills and two blocks for the Green Wave, while Laci Miller-Geiger ran the offense with 21 set assists and added six aces and three digs.

WEST MIDDLESEX 3, JAMESTOWN 0

WEST MIDDLESEX, Pa. – A strong match from Caitlin Stephens helped West Middlesex to a 3-0 (25-5, 25-16, 25-19) win over visiting Jamestown.

Stephens had 14 kills, 10 set assists, and two aces.

Maggie Briggs added five kills for the Big Red with Sloan Mild adding six aces and five digs and Emma Mild seven aces and four kills. Abby Stinedurf also had eight set assists and three aces.

Madilyn Enterline had five kills and 12 digs for Jamestown with Hannah Hart adding two kills and eight digs, and Alayna Cadman had six digs and a kill.

BROCKWAY 3, RIDGWAY 0

RIDGWAY, Pa. – Sophia Schmader had 10 kills and seven digs to lead Brockway to a 3-0 (25-17, 25-21, 28-26) road win over Ridgway.

Lauren Rendos added six kills for the Lady Roves while Kalina Powell had 11 digs and four aces and Sam Duckett added five digs. Bella Patton chipped in four kills and two blocks, and Meeca Smithran the offense with 20 set assists while adding four digs and three aces.

COCHRANTON, Pa. – Brooklyn Needler had 14 kills to help Cochranton sweep visiting Eisenhower, 3-0 (25-6, 25-10, 25-7).

Dani Hoffman chipped in eight kills and six digs, and Macie Williams had seven digs and five aces.

Maggie Jackson ran the offense for Cochranton with 25 set assists.

Caroline Smyth had three kills, two aces, and a block for Eisenhower with Kenzie Miller adding two kills.

SHEFFIELD 3, CAMERON COUNTY 0

EMPORIUM, Pa. – Peyton Wotorson had nine kills for Sheffield in a 3-0 (25-11, 25-18, 25-10) win at Cameron County.

Madison Connolly and Kassidy Orinko each added seven kills with Orinko also having nine digs and three blocks.

Emily Davidson paced the Lady Wolverines on defense with 14 digs, and Kadence Steffan had 29 set assists, 10 digs, and three blocks.

Aubree Lorenzo had four kills and Ava Hilfiger chipped in three kills.

ALBION, Pa. – Nevaeh Kelley and Courtney Eddy each had 10 digs to help Northwestern to a 3-0 (25-14, 25-17, 25-16) win over Erie.

ST. MARYS 3, BROOKVILLE 2

ST. MARYS, Pa. – Rylee Nicklas had 16 kills to lead St. Marys to a come-from-behind 3-2 (22-25, 27-25, 15-25, 25-13, 15-8) win over visiting Brookville.

Hannah Ritter and Maddie Ryan each added six kills with Ritter joining Molly Hanslovan with four blocks each. Jianna Gerg paced the Lady Dutch on defense with 20 digs, and Ava Johnson added 14 digs.

Hanslovan ran the offense for St. Marys with 32 set assists.

FRANKLIN 3, WILMINGTON 0

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – Visiting Franklin got eight kills and a block from Abby Boland and seven kills and two blocks from Katie Boal on its way to a 3-0 (25-16, 25-13, 25-18) win over Wilmington.

Estella Adams ran the offense for the Knights with 23 set assists, and Jillian Ewing had 13 digs.

CLARION-LIMESTONE 3, CRANBERRY 0

STRATTANVILLE, Pa. – Kaylee Smith helped Clarion-Limestone sweep to a 3-0 (25-16, 25-13, 25-18) home win over Cranberry by recording 29 set assist.

A lot of those assists went to Jenna Dunn, who had 10 kills while adding seven digs and two aces, and to Maddy Greeley who had nine kills while adding two blocks and an ace.

Ansley Burke and Hannah Beggs also combined for 10 kills, while Abby Knapp-Greeley had 13 digs and three aces.

Ayanna Ferringer had nine digs and two blocks for Cranberry with Reyna Watson adding two aces.

MAPLEWOOD 3, YOUNGSVILLE 0

MAPLEWOOD, Pa. – Madison O’Hara and Elizabeth Hunter each had seven kills to help Maplewood to a 3-0 (25-14, 25-10, 25-11) win at home over Youngsville.

O’Hara added 11 digs and Hunter five blocks.

Savannah O’Hara also had six kills for the Tigers with Maggie Means chipping in five kills, 21 set assists, and three blocks.

WEST SUNBURY, Pa. – Marissa Pry led Moniteaiu to a 3-1 (25-10, 24-26, 25-15, 25-19) win over visiting rival Karns City by recording 14 kills, three aces, three digs, two set assists, and a block.

Sydney Bayless added four kills, six blocks, and three aces with Bella Hernandez chipping in two kills, two aces, and five blocks.

Abbey Jewart ran the offense for Moniteau with 18 set assists while adding three aces and a kill.

Kendall Ritzert ran the Karns City offense with 14 set assists while adding five digs and an ace.

Ava Fox tied for match-high honors with 14 kills and completed a double-double with 11 digs for the Lady Gremlins, while Naomi Venesky had four kills, and Cayley Craig had six kills and three digs.

Nicole Taylor had a team-best 14 digs for Karns City, and Ashley Mauer contributed 11 set assists, five digs, and two kills.

MCDOWELL 3, MERCYHURST PREP 0

ERIE, Pa. – Lexie Radtke had 13 kills and six digs to help McDowell to a 3-0 (25-22, 25-19, 25-22) win over visiting Mercyhurst Prep.

Gabby DeLuca and Sophia Nestor each added eight kills for the Trojans while Chase Rech had 15 digs and Ari Bico eight digs.

Halle Gunetner ran the offense for McDowell with 26 set assists and completed a double-double with 11 digs.

ELK COUNTY CATHOLIC 3, KANE 1

KANE, Pa. – Tori Newton had 22 kills and three aces to pace Elk County Catholic to a 3-1 (25-16, 23-25, 25-10, 25-10) win t Kane.

Reagan Bauer added 16 kills and Lucy Klahuwn added seven kills and four aces for the Lady Crusaders.

Kiri Emmert ran the ECC offense with 39 set assists.

SLIPPERY ROCK 3, REYNOLDS 0

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Avalee Demidovich had 10 kills to help Slippery Rock sweep visiting Reynolds, 3-0 (25-10, 25-22, 25-13).

CJ Sabo added four blocks and Lexi Plesakov chipped in nine digs for the Rockets.

Anora Robare ran the Slippery Rock offense with 25 set assists.

REDBANK VALLEY 3, FOREST AREA 0

TIONESTA, Pa. – Izzy Bond and Taylor Ripple each had eight kills to help Redbank Valley to a 3-0 (25-6, 25-7, 25-10) win over Forest Area at West Forest.

Mylee Harmon added five kills for the Lady Bulldogs, while Elaina Carrico ran the Redbank Valley offense with 16 set assists.

SHARON 3, TITUSVILLE 0

SHARON, Pa. – Tay Chester had eight kills, five aces, and six digs to help Sharon to a 3-0 (25-21, 25-12, 25-14) win over visiting Titusville.

Victoria Byler added six kills for the Tigers while Kylie Weirick and Kylee Hasan each had six digs.

Jamoria Cumbby ran the offense for Sharon with 19 set assists.

GREENVILLE 3, OIL CITY 0

GREENVILLE, Pa. – Homestanding Greenville swept Oil City, 3-0 (25-11, 25-21, 25-12).

Greenville stats weren’t available but Oil City got 10 digs from Libie Arnink and four kills each from Adrianna Cochran and Carlie Gladin.

Chayse Skinner ran the offense for the Oilers with 10 set assists.

BELLWOOD-ANTIS 3, CLEARFIELD 0

HYDE, Pa. – Hannah Glunt had 17 set assists and two aces but Clearfield fell at home to Bellwood-Antis, 3-0 (27-25, 25-20, 25-16).

Addy Ruiz led the Lady Bison on offense with seven kills with Gabby Hnery adding five kills and Sonny Diehl five aces.

KENNEDY CATHOLIC 3, ROCKY GROVE 2

HERMITAGE, Pa. – Homestanding Kennedy Catholic rallied past Rocky Grove, 3-2 (25-23, 15-25, 14-25, 25-20, 15-11).

Kennedy Catholic stats weren’t available but Kaidlynn Burger had eight digs and seven aces for Rocky Grove with Abby Cable adding four kills and six blocks and Josie Seely five kills.

Olivia Faust also chipped in five aces and four kills for the Orioles, while Katie Beggs ran the offense with 17 set assists and also added four aces and two kills.
