Four champions will be crowned in District 10 boys’ hoops on Friday, and plenty of familiar teams and faces will be taking the court.

In addition to the championship games, Eisenhower meets Cambridge Springs in the 2A third-place game, while Fairview and Seneca square off in Class 3A for the third and final PIAA bid.

Here’s a look at each title game.

CLASS 1A CHAMPIONSHIP

(1) FARRELL (19-4) vs. (2) KENNEDY CATHOLIC (13-9) at Westminster College, 7:45 p.m.

Two teams that know each other quite will play for the Class 1A crown, as Farrell is coming off a 64-55 win over Rocky Grove, while KC beat Jamestown, 44-27.

The two teams met twice during the regular season, both Farrell victories by scores of 53-32 and 45-33.

Nasir O’Kane leads a balanced Farrell scoring attack at 12.7 ppg., followed by Lamont Samuels at 12.3, Danny Odem and 9.7, and Kylon Wilson at 8.2.

Levi Hailstock leads Kennedy at 12.5 ppg., followed by Thorsten Har at 11.0 and Remington Hart at 8.0.

Farrell has won nine straight and its only losses this season have come to Franklin, New Castle, Mars, and Shenango.

Both programs have won two consecutive D10 crowns, with Kennedy’s last two championships coming in Class 2A. Kennedy Catholic advanced to the PIAA semifinals a year ago before falling to OLSH.

The winner will face the No. 4 seed out of the WPIAL, while the loser will face the second-place finisher from the WPIAL.

CLASS 2A CHAMPIONSHIP

(1) MERCER (20-4) vs. (3) ERIE FIRST CHRISTIAN (13-10), Westminster College, 6 p.m.

Mercer, which last appeared in a D10 title game in 1998, is seeking its first crown since 1989.

Erie First Christain, meanwhile, is seeking its first D10 title in its season appearance, having lost to Cochranton in 2014.

Mercer, which has won 13 in a row, is coming off a 61-53 win over Eisenhower, a game in which they closed on an 11-1 run to rally for the win. Jake Mattocks, a 1,000-point scorer, leads the Mustangs at 16.1 ppg., while Dae Mattocks checks in at 12.7, Bubba Palmer at 7.5, and Braeden Balaski at 6.5.

EFC, meanwhile, is coming off an impressive 63-42 win over Cambridge Springs in the semifinals. The Eagles are led by Jesse Jong (13.0 ppg.), Avery Collins (12.6 ppg.), and Anthony Collins (12.0 ppg.).

The D10 champ will play the sixth-place finisher from the WPIAL, while the loser will meet the third-place team from District 6.

CLASS 3A CHAMPIONSHIP

(1) FRANKLIN (20-4) vs. (3) OIL CITY (19-5) at Slippery Rock U, 7:45 p.m.

It’s a brother vs. brother coaching matchup as Jason Fulmer and Franklin take on Bundy Fulmer and Oil City for the D10 crown.

Franklin is seeking its third-straight D10 crown while Oil City, which lost to Fairview in the 4A title game a year ago, has never won a District 10 championship in D10 basketball. Before last season, the Oilers’ last title game appearance was in 1971.

The two teams are no strangers to one another, meeting twice during the regular season both Franklin wins by scores of 67-51 and 60-43.

Oil City is coming off a 38-36 semifinal win over Seneca, while Franklin knocked off Fairview, 52-40, avenging a regular-season loss to the Tigers.

Jake Hornbeck leads the Oilers at 14.0 ppg. while Cam VanWormer is at 12.6, Sayyid Donald is at 11.8, and Ethen Knox is at 9.8.

Franklin, meanwhile, is led by Damon Curry, who reached the 1,000-point milestone in the win over Fairview.

Curry checks in at 17.4 ppg., followed by Jalen Wood at 12.8, Cole Bucklety at 11.7, and Jonathan Leccia at 7.4.

The winner will get the No. 6 team from the WPIAL in the first round of the PIAA championships, while the loser will meet the No. 4 team from the WPIAL.
