WARREN, Pa. – Four boys champions will be crowned in District 10 on Friday, while state playoff berths will also be decided.

Fairview battles Oil City for the 4A crown, while Franklin looks to repeat in 3A when they battle Seneca, Kennedy Catholic takes on Rocky Grove for the 2A title and Farrell battles Jamestown for the Class 1A crown.

Here’s a look at each.

CLASS 4A CHAMPIONSHIP

(1) Fairview vs. (6) Oil City, Hagerty Family Events Center, 7:30 p.m.

Per records, it’s been 100 years since Oil City won a District 10 title. They will get the chance to do so against a Fairview team with who they split with in the regular season.

The Oilers won the first meeting, 35-30 on Jan. 21 behind 14 points from Judias Johnson, but Fairview returned the favor in a big way, winning 67-31 on Feb. 15 as Logan Fraazao netted 22 points.

The Tigers (22-2) have been perhaps both the best and most consistent team in Class 4A this season, easily knocking off Corry in the semifinals before a 61-44 win over three-time defending champion Hickory in the semis.

Oil City (16-8), meanwhile, avenged a pair of losses to Harbor Creek during the regular season with a quarterfinal win over the Huskies, before a 57-48 victory over Grove City in the semis. In that win over GC, Johnson netted 22 points and Cam VanWormer 19, as they built a 19-point first-half lead.

Frazao averages 15.4 ppg., James Sitter 14.9, and Tyler Shultz 9.5 for the Tigers, while Johnson and Van Wormer average 12.7 ppg. Apiece and Jake Hornbeck checks in at nine per game.

The winner gets the No. 6 team from the WPIAL on Tuesday, while the loser draws the No. 2 team from the WPIAL in the first round of the PIAA playoffs.

Grove City battles Hickory in the third-place game with the other state berth on the line. The winner of that game will meet the WPIAL champion.

CLASS 3A CHAMPIONSHIP

(1) Franklin vs. (2) Seneca, Meadville HS, 7:30 p.m.

Franklin is right back where they expected to be, playing for a second-consecutive D10 title after beating Mercyhurst Prep 71-46 in the semifinals.

In that game, Easton Fulmer became Franklin’s all-time leading scorer, netting 14 points, while Damon Curry led the way with 25 and Luke Guth 19.

That trio has been a three-headed offensive monster for the Knights this season, checking in at 21.5 (Fulmer), 15.8 (Curry) and 14.1 (Guth) per game respectively.

While Franklin is playing once again for the D10 crown, Seneca is making its second-ever appearance following a 40-34 win over Girard in the semifinals.

The Region 3 champion Bobcats (19-5) are led by Jacob Young (12.8 ppg.), Logan Kibbe (12.7 ppg.) and Justin Walker (8.3 ppg.).

The winner will meet the No. 6 team from the WPIAL in the first round of the PIAA playoffs on Wednesday, while the loser will face the No. 4 team from the WPIAL.

The final PIAA spot up for grabs will be determined by the winner of the third-place game between (3) Girard and (5) Mercyhurst Prep (Hagerty Family Events Center, 6 p.m.).

The two met twice during the season, each winning on the other’s home floor. The winner gets the second-place team from District 6 in the first round of the PIAA playoffs.

CLASS 2A CHAMPIONSHIP

(1) Kennedy Catholic vs. (2) Rocky Grove at Slippery Rock University, 7:30 p.m.

Kennedy (20-4) is in a very familiar position, looking for yet another D10 crown, which would be their 29th, while Rocky Grove (19-5) is looking to dethrone them.

The two teams met twice during the regular season, an 82-36 win for KC on Jan. 18 and a 61-36 win for the Golden Eagles on Feb. 18.

The Golden Eagles are led by the three-headed scoring machine of Elijah Harden (19.3 ppg.), Malik Lampkins-Rudolph (18.2 ppg.) and Gio Magestro (13.8 ppg.).

Isaac Clayton, a 1,000-point scorer, leads the Orioles at 16.8 ppg., while D’Andre Whitman checks in at 11.7 ppg., Reece Henderson 7.2 and Quinn Ritchey 6.9.

The winner will take on the No. 6 team from the WPIAL, while the loser will meet the No. 4 team from the WPIAL.

The third-place game features a pair of teams that have already advanced as well in No. 6 West Middlesex and No. 4 Cambridge Springs (Meadville HS, 6 p.m.).

The winner will take on the No. 2 team from the WPIAL in the first round of the PIAA playoffs, while the loser will take on the District 9 champion.

CLASS 1A CHAMPIONSHIP

(1) Farrell vs. (2) Jamestown at Kennedy Catholic HS, 7 p.m.

This is a rematch of last season’s title game, won 60-35 by Farrell.

The Steelers swept the Muskies by scores of 75-45 and 64-55 this season.

Farrell (14-8) is led by Lamont Samuels (14.1 ppg.), Omar Stewart (12.7 ppg.), Malachi Owens (7.2 ppg.) and Kabron Smith (6.5 ppg.).

Jamestown (11-11), meanwhile, features a pair of 1,000-point scorers in Cam Keyser (18.6 ppg.) and Peyton McElhinney (17.3). McElhinney is unlikely to play, however, after suffering an ankle injury in practice, head coach Luke Widger set in a tweet earlier this week.

The winner will meet the No. 3 team from the WPIAL in the first round of the state playoffs on Tuesday.
