Former Farrell Coach McCluskey Selected to 2024 American Basketball Hall of Fame Class

ROCHESTER, Mich. The American Basketball Hall of Fame (ABHOF) announced its 2024 class on Thursday, with legendary Farrell boys basketball coach Ed McCluskey among those honored.

The American Basketball Hall of Fame is giving another opportunity for players, coaches, and teams to be able to be honored at a national level.

Basketball legend LaMont “ShowBoat” Robinson says due to the fact that everyone is not going to be inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame or the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame, and the growth of basketball today there is a need for the American Basketball Hall of Fame. The American Basketball Hall of Fame’s first class of inductees came in 2019.

In 1948 McCluskey, was hired as basketball coach at Farrell. During his 28-year career at Farrell, he finished with a record of 590-153 and captured seven PIAA championships and 11 WPIAL championships before retiring in 1977.

McCluskey was one of 22 inductees in the Class of 2024, which also includes Larry Bird, George Girvin, Campy Russell, Brad Sellers, Phil Chenier, Dave Bing, Jerrod Mustaf, Terry Cummings, Mateen Cleaves, Anderson Hunt, Kenny Sailors, Carlo Rogers, Rick Mahorn, Semeka Randall-Lay, Ray Scott-Player, Joe Hammond, Tree Rollins, Dru Joyce, Bobby Knight, Kevin Mackey and Bob Huggins.

                                      

The American Basketball Hall of Fame Enshrinement Weekend will consist of the Blue Jacket Luncheon & Media Day, on Friday, June 28, American Basketball Hall of Fame V.I.P. Enshrinement Pre-Party Gala, on Sunday, June 30, and the 6th Annual American Basketball Hall of Fame Red Carpet Enshrinement Ceremony on Sunday, June 30. All events will take place in Oakland County, MI.
