Feb. 5, 2022 D10 Girls Hoops: Cambridge, Maplewood, Saegertown Get R-2 Wins; Warren, Conneaut, GC Roll

CAMBRIDGE SPRINGS, Pa. – Cambridge Springs built a 19-point halftime lead on its way to a 49-34 win over Cochranton to stay atop the Region 2 standings.

Makenzie Yanc and Hailee Rodgers scored 14 points apiece for the Blue Devils, who also got seven points from Maddie Yanc. Rodgers scored all of her points in the first half.

Jaylin McGill scored a game-high 16 points for Cambridge Springs, while Emma Gallo added nine.

MAPLEWOOD 46, SENECA 24

WATTSBURG, Pa. – Izzy Eimer scored 13 points to lead a balanced effort as Maplewood earned a 46-24 Region 2 win over Seneca.

                                      

The Lady Tigers jumped out to a 15-3 first-quarter lead en route to the win.

Sadie Thomas added 12 points and Bailey Varndell 11 for the Lady Tigers.

Lauren Schneider led Seneca with seven points.

SAEGERTOWN 60 UNION CITY 34

SAEGERTOWN, Pa. – Averie Braymer scored 17 points as Saegertown earned a 60-34 Region 2 win over Union City.

                          

Maggie Triola added 12 points and Lindsey Greco nine for Saegertown.

Cathryn Reynolds scored a game-high 18 points for Union City.

WARREN 65, BRADFORD 19

WARREN, Pa. – Warren’s dynamic duo of Riley Childress and Emma Ruhlman both scored 23 points, as the Lady Dragons rolled past visiting Bradford, 65-19.

Childress hit a pair of first-quarter 3-pointers and scored eight points in the quarter, while Ruhlman added six to help Warren to a 19-4 lead after eight minutes.

Kalie Dixon paced Bradford with 12 points.

CONNEAUT 44, OIL CITY 16

LINESVILLE, Pa. – Sam Egli scored 11 points and Hannah Brady 10 as Conneaut earned a 44-16 win over Oil City.

The Eagles jumped out to a 20-2 first-quarter lead en route to the win.

Rylee Jones had six points, six assists, and three steals for the Eagles, while Jaelyn Blood had four rebounds, four assists, and two steals.

                                   

Riley Gustie and Maddie Wenner had four points each for Oil City.

GROVE CITY 46, HICKORY 23

GROVE CITY, Pa. – Delaney Callahan had 15 points and six rebounds as Grove City doubled up Hickory in Region 5 action, 46-23.

The Eagles, who led 29-14 at halftime, also got eight points, five rebounds, five assists, and three steals from Piper Como, while Emma Santom had eight points, six rebounds, and four assists, and Hannah Reiber four assists.

Mariah Swanson led Hickory with 10 points.

SHARPSVILLE 52, STRUTHERS (OHIO) 51

STRUTHERS, OHIO – Alli Davis scored 15 points as Sharpsville earned a hard-fought 52-51 win over Struthers.

Tori Kimpan had 14 points to go along with seven blocks and seven rebounds for the Blue Devils, who led by 11 at halftime.

Also for Sharpsville, Chasie Fry had 14 points, seven steals, and six assists and Breanna Hanley nine points, and 12 boards.

FRANKLIN 38, MEADVILLE 5

FRANKLIN, Pa. – Camdon Bashor scored 16 points and pulled down 13 boards as Franklin topped Meadville, 38-5 in Region 5 action.

Estella Adams had 10 points, while Lauren Billingsley added seven for the Lady Knights.

ERIE 29, CORRY 27

ERIE, Pa. – Torreuna Roberts scored nine points as Erie outlasted Corry in Region 6 action, 29-27.

Erie rallied from a 14-10 halftime deficit for the win, as Amaria Mims added seven points.

                                  

Skylar Riedel had seven points to lead Corry.

VENANGO CATHOLIC 51, EISENHOWER 15

OIL CITY, Pa. – Mariah Wessell and Lily Homan each scored 20 points to lift Venango Catholic to a 51-15 win over visiting Eisenhower.

For Wessell, who also added five steals, it was a career-high point total a game after she had matched her previous high with 14 points in a win over Commodore Perry.

Homan added seven rebounds and four steals for the Lady Vikings, who also got seven points and five rebounds from Morgan Wessell.

Bella Marino led Eisenhower with nine points, all in the second half. Marino also had five rebounds and three blocks.

JAMESTOWN 35, ROCKY GROVE 31

JAMESTOWN, Pa. – Jillian McElhinny scored 14 points as Jamestown picked up its second win of the season, 35-31 over Rocky Grove.

Stacie Weimert netted 10 points for the Muskies in the win.

Anna Williams led Rocky Grove with 11 points.
