Feb. 18, 2022 D10 Boys’ Hoops: Jamestown’s Keyser Reaches 1,000; Saegertown, Fairview Claim Region Crowns

JAMESTOWN, Pa. – Cam Keyser surpassed 1,000 career points as Jamestown earned a 53-25 win over Commodore Perry.

Keyser scored 15 points in the first half and 13 more in the second half for a total of 28, the exact number of points he needed coming into the game.

Fellow 1,000-point scorer Peyton McElhinny added 10 points for the Muskies.

Kyle Stringert had eight points for Commodore Perry.

SAEGERTOWN 47, COCHRANTON 43

                                      

SAEGERTOWN, Pa. – Jaden Wilkins scored 17 points as Saegertown clinched the Region 2 title with a 47-43 win over Cochranton.

With the win, the Panthers improved to 17-5 to end the regular season and 12-2 in regions play, two games clear of Eisenhower and Cambridge Springs.

Brady Greco added nine points for the Panthers, who went on a 19-3 second-quarter run.

Chase Miller scored a game-high 21 points for Cochranton, while Wyatt Barzak added 10.

FAIRVIEW 52, HARBOR CREEK 47, overtime

                          

HARBORCREEK, Pa. – Harbor Creek rallied from a 38-27 fourth-quarter deficit to force overtime, but visiting Fairview was able to wrap up the outright region title with a 52-47 victory.

Jaden Rocco hit a long-distance shot to send the game to overtime tied a 43, but in the extra session, the Tigers went on a 9-4 run.

Tyler Shultz led Fairview (20-2) with 16 points, while Logan Frazao added 12 and Jeremy Frazao nine.

Travis Kruszewski had 13 points for Harbor Creek, while Rocco added 12 and Nick Krahe 11. The Huskies (17-5, 11-3) finish in a second-place tie with Warren, which also had an 11-3 region record.

CATHEDRAL PREP 46, MCDOWELL 37

ERIE, Pa. – Cathedral Prep rallied to force overtime and then toppled McDowell in the extra session for the third win this season over their rivals.

The Ramblers trailed 27-19 going into the fourth quarter of the defensive battle, but came back to force the extra session behind the strong play of Amaree Pickens (12 points) and Reece Colvin (nine).

Pickens hit a big jumper late to help send the game to overtime.

Semontae Lofton added eight points for Prep and Jake Sambuchino and Tavion Spencer seven each.

Tyler Grove had 12 points and Luke Chamberlain 10 for the Trojans.

                                   

WARREN 73, FORT LEBOEUF 32

WATERFORD, Pa. – Parks Ordiway scored 25 points, 17 of which came in the third quarter as Warren toppled Fort LeBoeuf, 73-32.

Ordiway drained five threes in the win and was one of three Dragons in double figures, as J.T. Blum tallied 13 points and Brady Berdine 12. A total of nine Warren players made their way into the scoring column.

Ronan Dorler led Fort LeBoeuf with 10 points.

EISENHOWER 51, MAPLEWOOD 41

GUYS MILLS, Pa. – Curt Darling led three Eisenhower players in double figures with 13 points as the Knights earned a 51-41 win over Maplewood.

Wyatt Lookenhouse added 11 points, Kael Hunt 10 and Kyler Black and Kris Bunk eight each for the Knights, who will enter the Class 2A playoffs with a record of 13-9.

Logan Kennedy and Luke Sleeman scored 12 points each for Maplewood.

IROQUOIS 65, YOUNGSVILLE 33

LAWRENCE PARK, Pa. – Iroquois outscored Youngsville 28-11 in the second half on its way to a 65-33 win over Youngsville.

Logan Briggs led a trio of Iroquois players in double figures with 19 points, while Corrion Combest netted 18 and Ben Burkhardt 12.

Koby Hendrickson had 13 points to lead Youngsville.

UNION CITY 56, CAMBRIDGE SPRINGS 49

UNION CITY, Pa. – Bryce Drayer led four Union City players in double figures with 14 points as the Bears picked up a critical Region 2 win over Cambridge Springs.

The Bears outscored the Blue Devils 29-22 in the second half to potentially put themselves in the Class 2A playoffs (the brackets come out Sunday).

                                  

Kyler Shaffer had 13 points for the Bears, Matthew Bennett 11, and Wyatt Post 10.

Ethan Counasse led all scorers for Cambridge Springs with 15 points, while Josh Reisnauer added 12.

GROVE CITY 64, GREENVILLE 47

GREENVILLE, Pa. – Dylan Stull poured in 27 points as Grove City secured second place in Region 4 with a 64-47 win over Greenville.

Stull scored 12 of those points in the second quarter as Greenville went on a 23-9 run.

Landon Haggart was also in double figures for Grove City with 13 points.

Jalen Ritzert had 16 points to lead Greenville, while Noah Philson added 13 and Brady Kincaid 12.

WEST MIDDLESEX 54, LAKEVIEW 46

STONEBORO, Pa. – West Middlesex outscored Lakeview 19-11 in the fourth quarter en route to a 54-46 win.

Tanner Shick led the Big Reds with 18 points, while Richie Preston scored six of his 15 points in the fourth quarter en route to the win.

Cam Pence led Lakeview with 18 points and Lane Smith added 14.

ERIE 71, MEADVILLE 49

ERIE, Pa. – Kre Thompson led Erie with 15 points as the Royals earned a 71-49 Region 6 win over Meadville.

Jay Smith added 14 points for the Royals, who will meet McDowell for the D10 Class 6A title.

Khalon Simmons paced Meadville with 15 points.

KENNEDY CATHOLIC 61, ROCKY GROVE 36

HERMITAGE, Pa. – Kennedy Catholic outscored Rocky Grove 25-3 in the first quarter en route to a 61-36 win.

Elijah Harden and Gio Magestro had 15 points each for the winners, while Malik Lampkins-Rudolph finished with 13.

D’Andre Whitman led Rocky Grove with 15 points and Isaac Clayton 12.

OIL CITY 57, CORRY 44

OIL CITY, Pa. – Judias Johnson and Jake Hornbeck scored 17 points apiece as Oil City beat Corry, 57-44 in the final game of the regular season for each team.

Cam VanWormer had 15 points for the Oilers.

Nick Brundage had 13 points for Corry, while Logan Joncas added 11 and Rylan Smith 10.

Both teams now turn their attention to likely bids to the Class 4A playoffs.

SHARPSVILLE 65, WILMINGTON 48

SHARPSVILLE, Pa. – Brock Lenzi led three Sharpsville players in double figures with 20 points as the Blue Devils powered past Wilmington, 65-48.

James Thomas finished with 14 points and Liam Campbell 12 for the Blue Devils.

Tuff McConahy led all scorers with 22 points for Wilmington.

HICKORY 55, SHARON 25

HERMITAGE, Pa. – Tyson Djakovich and Jackson Pryts scored 14 points each as Hickory earned a 55-25 win over Sharon.

Joey Fazzone added eight points for the Hornets.

Derek Douglas had seven points for Sharon.
