Eisenhower, Mercer, Prep, Fairview Race to Wins

SAEGERTOWN, Pa. – Ryan Chambers rushed for 156 yards on just three carries, including a 70-yard touchdown run on the first play from scrimmage in Eisenhower’s 48-6 win over Saegertown.

Chambers also scored on a 26-yard touchdown run in the first half for the Knights, who led 28-0 at halftime, on his way to Allegheny Grille of Foxburg Player of the game honors.

“Before the game our coach gave us a talk and said we have to play as a team, no excuses,” Chambers said during the Cole Orthodontic Associates Player of the Game interview. “Every player has to give 100 percent and if you’re going to give 100 percent you’re going to come out with a win.”

Tucker Lindell ran for 112 yards on 11 carries and scored on a 1-yard touchdown run in the second quarter. Logan Penley rushed for 67 yards and a pair of touchdowns as well for Ike.

Shawn Pascuzzi threw a 33-yard touchdown pass to Kris Bunk in the third quarter, while Aiden Nichols capped the scoring with an 8-yard touchdown run.

Aaron Shartle, who rushed for 74 yards on 20 carries for Saegertown, scored on a 6-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter for Saegertown.

                          

MERCER 60, KENNEDY CATHOLIC 6

HERMITAGE, Pa. – Carter Addison and Daemyin Mattocks scored three touchdowns each as Mercer beat Kennedy Catholic, 60-6.

Mercer scored all 60 of its points in the first half.

Mattocks scored on touchdown runs of nine and 57 yards and also returned an interception 46 yards for a touchdown. Mattocks finished with 135 yards on the ground.

Addison, meanwhile, scored on runs of eight, 83 and 52 yards, accounting for 214 yards on the ground.

Nic Michael scored on an 8-yard touchdown run for Mercer, while Ben Godfrey hauled in a 24-yard touchdown pass from Rider Chiappini.

FAIRVIEW 35, GIRARD 21

GIRARD, Pa. – Tyler Benford rushed for three touchdowns and Fairview built a 21-0 lead on its way to a 35-21 win over Girard.

Vinny Campoli scored on a 9-yard touchdown run and Benford a 4-yard run to make it 14-0 after the forest quarter.

Benford scored on another 4-yard run to extend the lead to 21-0 in the second quarter.

                        

Jeremiah Colon got Girard on the board before halftime on a 13-yard run.

Colon’s 3-yard touchdown run in the third quarter got Girard within 21-14, but Benford busted loose on a 60-yard scoring run to answer.

Girard again got within one score, 28-21 on Ryan St. Julien’s 10-yard touchdown pass to Ethan Kibbe.

Fairview, however, put the game away with Campoli’s 54-yard touchdown pass to Jacob Harkness with 3:53 to play.

CATHEDRAL PREP 28, BENEDICTINE (OHIO) 6

CLEVELAND – Dan Oblich intercepted three passes to lead a dominant defensive effort from Cathedral Prep in a 28-6 win over Benedictine (Ohio).

Luke Costello ran for a touchdown and threw for another for the Ramblers, who led 14-6 at halftime on Costello’s touchdown run and an interception return for touchdown from Ethan Seifert.

The Ramblers extended their lead in the third quarter on Costello’s 12-yard touchdown pass to Cory Allen.

Dajoure Hollingsworth capped the day for the Ramblers with a 7-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter.
