DuBois’ Wingard Named Week One District 9 Jim Kelly POW Powered by the Allegheny Grille

WARREN, Pa. – In a high-scoring affair, DuBois’ Trey Wingard threw the game-winning touchdown pass with just over four minutes to play to lead the Beavers to a 41-36 win at Karns City.

The 7-yard pass to Carter Vos capped an outstanding game for the sophomore who was 21 of 36 for 324 yards, and four touchdowns while also rushing for 10 yards. That performance earned him the YDL Sports Network Week 1 Jim Kelly District 9 Football Player of the Week powered by the Allegheny Grille in Foxburg.

Fifteen additional players join Wingard in being recognized on the Week 1 Honor Roll. They are:

•Brockway’s Jendy Cuello (19 carries, 143 yards, 2 TDs) and Brayden Fox (14 of 23 passing, 239 yards, 2 TDs)

•Cameron County’s Maddox Baughman ((10 of 19 passing, 148 yards, 1 TD; 12 carries, 33 yards, 1 TD)

            

•Central Clarion’s Jase Ferguson (16 carries, 168 yards, 1 TD; 8 of 13 passing, 171 yards, 1 TD, 1 Int) and Noah Naser (16 carries, 66 yards, 3 TDs)

•Coudersport’s Cal Dunn (9 tackles, 3 sacks)

•Otto-Eldred’s Hunter App (30 carries, 172 yards, 4 TDs) and Manning Splain (8 catches, 145 yards, 2 TDs)

•Port Allegany’s Peyton Stiles (14 carries, 71 yards, 4 TDs)

•Punxsutawney’s Landon Martz (19 carries, 169 yards, 3 TDs)

                          

•Redbank Valley’s Mason Clouse (5 catches, 104 yards, 2 TDs, Returned an interception 47 yards for a TD) and Braylon Wagner (14 of 19 passing, 273 yards, 4 TDs, 1 Int; all in the first half)

•St. Marys’ Matthew Davis (22 carries, 225 yards, 3 TDs; 13 tackles, 4 TFLs)

•Sheffield’s Colby Barr (15 of 37, 294 yards, 3 TDs, 1 Int; 5 carries, 9 yards, 1 TD).

Jim Kelly is the Hall of Fame quarterback of the Buffalo Bills who grew up in East Brady, Pa. and went to Miami (Fla). Kelly was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2002 after passing for over 45,000 yards as a pro, including two seasons in the USFL, with 320 career touchdown passes. He led the Bills to four straight AFC Titles. Kelly’s name on the award is being used with his permission.
