BROOKVILLE, Pa. – District 9 has finalized what the football playoffs will look like.

In Class 1A, the top team from the IU9 bubble – the winner of Friday night’s game between Coudersport and Smethport – will host the second-place team from the Small School Southern Division – Union/A-C Valley, while Redbank Valley will host the loser of the Coudersport/Smethport game. Both of those games will be either Oct. 23 or Oct. 24.

The winners of the semifinal games will then play in the championship game either Oct. 30 or Oct. 31. There is a good chance that the game will be at Varischetti Field in Brockway, but that is subject to change.

In Class 2A, the power ratings will be used to seed the four teams that qualify for the playoffs. It is believed that those four teams are already set – Brookville, Central Clarion County, Ridgway, and Karns City. The top seed will host the No. 4 seed and the second seed will host the No. 3 seed. Those games will be either Oct. 23 or Oct. 24.

In Class 3A, there will be a District 9 championship game between Clearfield and St. Marys. That game appears as if it will be played at Brockway’s Varischetti Field either Oct. 23 or Oct. 24.

The winner of that contest will play in a subregional game with the District 5 champion. There are two teams in District 5 Class 3A – Bedford and Somerset and it appears as though only Bedford will enter the postseason. The game most likely will be played at a District 9 site – most likely either Brockway’s Varischetti Field or Clearfield High School.

For those wondering, it does not appear as the turf fields in DuBois nor Clarion University will be available. Bradford has not informed District 9 of its final decision on whether it will make Parkway Field available.
