D9 Thursday football: Coudersport visits Cow Valley

WESTFIELD, Pa. — Closing out the regular season tonight, the Coudersport Falcons make a trip to District 4 territory to face Cowanesque Valley.

The Falcons (6-3), who will enter the Class 1A playoffs starting next week, face an Indians squad coming off a 12-0 win over Wellsboro. The best two teams on the Indians’ schedule they’ve lost to — 8-1 Muncy (48-14) in Week 8 and 7-2 South Williamsport (58-30) in Week 4.

Coudersport has won five straight games, all of them Region 3 foes after starting the season 1-3, including a 48-20 win over Bucktail last week.

Much of the Falcons’ 253 yards of offense per game flows through quarterback Gavyn Ayers. He’s passed for 711 yards and seven TDs against five interceptions, completing 48 of 128 passes while leading the team in rushing with 629 yards on 81 carries and 17 TDs.

            

Running back John Wright (67-322, 4 TDs), and receivers Danny Vanvladricken (14-285, 3 TDs) and Jackson Moss (13-280, 1 TD) are the other key offensive players for the Falcons.

Ayers also leads the defense with 59 tackles along with Vanvladricken’s 57 stops.

Cowanesque Valley averages 335 yards per game offensively, led by quarterback Graham Hess (39-for-83, 918 yards, 10 TDs, 5 Ints.) and running back Fletcher Good (105-944, 7 TDs).
