Brookville, Fort LeBoeuf Advance to PIAA 2A Team Wrestling Quarterfinals Powered by Luton’s Plumbing, Heating, A/C

HERSHEY, Pa. – The Brookville Raiders are moving on in the PIAA Class 2A team wrestling championships following a 32-25 win over Burrell in the first round.

The Raiders got three wins by pin, two by major decision at two by decision.

Jackson Zimmerman (215), Burke Fleming (145), and Kolton Griffin (152) all won by pin for the Raiders.

Fleming, Griffin, and Coyha Brown (160), who won by a 6-1 decision over Nico Zanella, closed out the match for the Raiders, who trailed 25-17 before those final three weight classes.

Gavin Hannah earned a 2-1 decision over Cameron Martin at 189 for the Raiders, while Baily Miller won via an 8-0 major decision over Luke Boylan at 285, while Cole Householder also earned a major decision, 16-2 over Jacob Stewart at 127.

Burrell won three bouts by decision and one each by fall, major decision, and forfeit.

Brookville moves on to face Berks Catholic, a 38-15 winner over Canton, in the quarterfinals on Friday.

FORT LEBOEUF 33, WARRIOR RUN 24

HERSHEY, Pa. – Fort LeBoeuf raced out to a 22-0 lead and got three wins by decision and three more by major decision on its way to a 33-24 win over District 4 champion Warrior Run in the first round of the PIAA Class 2A wrestling championships on Thursday.

Opening the match at 172, Connor McChesney got a 12-4 major decision over Isaiah Bertz, followed by a 3-2 decision victory by Ryan Welka at 189, a Danny Church forfeit win at 215, while John Duran got a first-period pin over Hunter Hauck at 285 and Brady Bowers a 7-1 decision over Cohen Zechman.

The Bison went on to get wins from Jake Bennett via a 16-6 major decision over Gavin Hunter at 121, an 8-1 win by JoJo Przybycien over Samuel Hall at 133, and a 10-2 major decision victory from Brody Beers at 152.

Warrior Run won two bouts via decision, two by fall and one by forfeit.

With the win, Fort LeBoeuf advances to face Chesnut Ridge, a 31-27 winner over West Perry, in the quarterfinals on Friday.

HERSHEY, Pa. – District 1 champion Faith Christian won five bouts via pin in a 55-10 win over District 10 champion Reynolds.

Mark Effendian (215), Gauge Botero (121), Chase Hontz (139), Cael Weidemoyer (152), and Luke Sugalaski (160) all won by fall for Faith Christian.

Faith Christian also won three bouts by tech fall, one by major decision and two by decision.

Reynolds got two wins, as Casey Rearick earned a 12-0 major decision over Ben Mertz at 285. Brayden Ranalli also won by forfeit for the Raiders at 114.

Reynolds will face Huntingdon in the first round consolations bracket on Friday at 9 a.m.

HERSHEY, Pa. – Spring-Ford won four matches via fall en route to a 33-25 win over District 10 champion Cathedral Prep in the PIAA Class 3A first round.

Gus Smith (107), Cole Smith (114), Quinn Smith (127), and Mason Richards (172) all got pins for the District 1 runner-up in the win.

Spring-Ford also won three matches by decision.

The Ramblers won six matches, three by decision, two by fall, and one by major decision.

Clay Mallory (189) and Keegan Oler (121) got pins for Prep, while Brandon Byrd won via a 10-2 major decision at 152, Max Spaulding earned a 5-2 decision at 285, Sam Staab an 8-2 decision at 133 and Bo Martucci a 1-0 decision at 152.

The Ramblers will meet Chambersburg, which fell to Quakertown, 36-31 in the first round consolations on Friday.
