HYDE, Pa. – Cole Miller scored game-high 25 points and became Clearfield’s all-time leading scorer in the Bison’s 65-52 victory over DuBois Central Catholic.

Miller came into the game needing six points to surpass 2017 graduate, Will Myers who had 1,436 career points.

With four points in the first quarter, Miller became Clearfield’s all-time leading scorer with a contested jump shot in the paint a couple of minutes into the second quarter.

“It was nice to get it,” Miller said. “It was a lot of pressure on me I felt. Once that ball went in the hoop I was so glad.”

“He’s a special kid,” Clearfield head coach Nate Glunt said. “He’s at the top of his class academically, he volunteers with our K1 and 2 programs the last four years, he does all the right things. When you have the talent and work ethic he has you’re able to become an unbelievably special player.”

The record-breaking basket also changed the pace of the game.

DCC started off hot with a 15-6 lead in the first but only led 18-16 at the half after the Bison held the Cardinals to three points in the second.

Clearfield continued that into the third quarter as the Bison settled down and got into a rhythm to take a 38-34 lead in the third quarter thanks to 11 points from Miller and seven from Braison Patrick.

“The first half everyone knew what was going on,” Glunt said about the Clearfield’s first-half struggles. “Everyone wanted to get the ball to Cole to get the record and everyone’s got adrenaline flowing but we relaxed a little at half time and we came out and it was all about sharing the basketball”

Sharing the ball is exactly what the Bison did in the fourth quarter.

Morgen Billotte hit a pair of three-pointers, Anthony Lopez and Andon Greslick each knocked down a three and Patrick went 6-for-6 at the free-throw line.

“I feel like not only did I get into a rhythm but our whole team got into a rhythm,” Miller said about the team’s second-half effort. “Everybody was knocking down shots and everything just started to flow together.”

Miller finished the night with a double-double for the Bison with 25 points and 10 rebounds. Billotte added 14 points, five rebounds, and five assists while Patrick finished with 13.

Luke Swisher scored 19 points to lead the Cardinals’ offense while Andrew Green chipped in 15.
