Brewer Reaches 1,000 Career Digs as Austin Tops Jburg; Franklin Sweeps Keystone; O-E, Girard Get Win (Aug. 28 Volleyball)

AUSTIN, Pa. – Ella Brewer recorded her 1,000th career dig to help Austin hold off visiting Johnsonburg, 3-2 (25-19, 25-6, 26-28, 18-25, 15-11).

Brewer, a senior, had 32 digs on the night to lead the Panthers’ defense.

Jade Williams paced a well-balanced offense for Austin with nine kills with Savannah Horton and Isabella Rees each adding seven kills.

Marlee Cherry led Johnsonburg with nine kills with Kiera Marciniak adding seven kills and Natalie Dunsworth and Maggie Hetrick five kills each.

Cadence Brechtel ran the offense for the Ramettes with 29 set assists while adding 11 digs, and Maria Casilio added 21 digs.

            

FRANKLIN 3, KEYSTONE 0

FRANKLIN, Pa. – Katie Boal and Abby Boland each had seven kills to lead Franklin to a 3-0 (25-5, 25-15, 25-16) win over visiting Keystone.

Boal added three blocks in the victory, while Estella Adams ran the offense with 26 set assists.

Katherine Burrows led Keystone with six kills while Gwyn Mannor had 28 digs.

OTTO-ELDRED 3, BRADFORD 1

                          

BRADFORD, Pa. – Carrie Drummond had 24 kills, 16 digs, two aces, and two blocks to help Otto-Eldred beat homestanding Bradford, 3-0 (25-21, 18-25, 25-17, 25-14), in the head coaching debut of her dad, Dan, for the Lady Terrors.

Kate Rhinehart added 20 kills, seven digs, and three aces for O-E, while Anna Schuessler ran the offense with 41 set assists.

GIRARD 3, ERIE 1

ERIE, Pa. – Emily Miller had six kills and six digs to help visiting Girard to a 3-1 (25-23, 20-25, 25-17, 25-17) win over Erie.

Alivia Montgomery paced the Yellow Jackets defense with 17 digs, while Laurel Counasse ran the offense with 18 set assists.

HICKORY 3, JAMESTOWN 0

JAMESTOWN, Pa. – Isabella Multari had 20 set assists and six digs to help visiting Hickory beat Jamestown, 3-0 (25-19, 25-23, 25-18).

Leah Garm led the Hornets with nine kills, while Arianna Deblasio had 12 digs. Teresa Giuseppucci and Zamyra Smith each added six aces.

Sophia Hart and Alayna Cadman each had two kills for Jamestown with Cadman also adding a block and Hart two digs.

MERCYHURST PREP 3, WEST MIDDLESEX 0

                        

ERIE, Pa. – Addica Sperry had 12 kills and 13 digs to help homestanding Mercyhurst Prep to a 3-0 ((25-19, 25-17, 25-14) win over West Middlesex.

Olivia Kulyk added eight kills, nine digs, and five aces for the Lakers with Eva Dvorak chipping in nine digs.

Julia Seth ran the offense for Mercyhurst Prep with 28 set assists.

Emma Mild and Maggie Briggs each had three kills for West Middlesex. Briggs chipped in three blocks and Mild two digs.

Caitlin Stevens had five assists, three kills, and two blocks for the Big Red.

         

BUTLER 3, CATHEDRAL PREP 0

BUTLER, Pa. – Butler swept past visiting Cathedral Prep, 3-0 (25-17, 26-24, 25-17).

Colette Speros led the Ramblers with six kills while Kamryn Resurrection ran the offense with 15 set assists.

COMMODORE PERRY 3, OIL CITY 0

HADLEY, Pa. – Commodore Perry swept Oil City, 3-0.

Nyssa Hanlon had four aces for Oil City.

Commodore Perry stats weren’t reported.
