Base/Soft: Mineo Fires No-Hitter for Slippery Rock; Saegertown Wins Showdown With Youngsville Powered by N. Washington Rodeo

TITUSVILLE, Pa. – Sal Mineo was unhittable, literally, against Titusville, firing a no-hitter as Slippery Rock beat Titusville, 3-1.

Mineo struck out nine and walked three. An error and a groundout in the first inning allowed Titusville to score its run.

The game was knotted at 1-1 going to the seventh, with Ryan Double breaking through with a two-run single, bringing in Mineo, who walked and Dominick Zandi, who singled.

Mark Titus took the loss in relief, allowing two runs on four hits, striking out three.

SAEGERTOWN 11, YOUNGSVILLE 6

                  

SAEGERTOWN, Pa. – In a matchup of the two top Class 1A teams in District 10, Saegertown plated five runs in the second inning on its way to an 11-6 win over Youngsville.

Seven different Saegertown players collected at least one hit, with Blake Leslie going 1-for-3 with two RBIs, while DeMarcus Manning was 2-for-4 with an RBI and Luke Young 1-for-3 with two run.

Wyatt Burchill went three innings for the Panthers, allowing three runs (two earned) on three hits, striking out one and walking two.

Nathan Lucks had a huge game at the plate for Youngsville, going 3-for-4 with two home runs and five RBIs, while Wyatt Dalrymple had three hits and Matt DeSimone two.

David Manning took the loss, allowing five runs (two earned) in two innings.

                          

NORTHWESTERN 2, NORTH EAST 1</strong/>

ALBION, Pa. – Joseph Friend’s RBI single in the sixth inning broke a 1-1 tie and helped Northwestern to a 2-1 win over North East.

Nick Timm was also 3-for-3 with an RBI for the Wildcats. Timm went five innings on the mound, allowing one run on four hits while striking out four. Kaden Stout pitched two shutout innings of relief, allowing three hits and striking out two.

Tommy Owens drove in the lone run of the game for North East. Drew Aspden allowed one unearned run in three innings on four hits, striking out four.

CAMBRIDGE SPRINGS 3, EISENHOWER 2

               

CAMBRIDGE SPRINGS, Pa. – Tied at 1 in the sixth, Brett Kania hit an RBI single and Matthew Ross an RBI double to send Cambridge Springs to a 3-2 win over Eisenhower.

An error allowed a run to cross the plate for Eisenhower in the seventh, but Owen Riley was able to get a pop out to end the game.

Riley got the win, going 3 ⅔ innings and allowing one unearned run on two hits, striking out three and walking two. Riley was also 1-for-3 with an RBI.

Shawn Pascuzzi was 1-for-3 with an RBI for Eisenhower. Derek Childs took the loss, allowing three runs on four hits in 5 ⅔ innings, striking out eight and walking two.

CATHEDRAL PREP 7, WARREN 3

ERIE, Pa. – Warren jumped out to an early 2-0 lead, but Cathedral Prep rallied for a 7-3 win.

Jacob Koshan, Davin Friedman and Matt Oblich drove in one run each for the Ramblers.

Dan Oblich tossed four shutout innings for the Ramblers, allowing just one hit and striking out seven in relief.

Aidan Zdarko, Carter Cochran and Elijah Snyder drove in one run each for Warren. AJ Slattery went six innings for Warren, allowing seven runs (three earned) on seven hits, striking out for and walking two.

            

CONNEAUT 9, OIL CITY 0

LINESVILLE, Pa. – Alex Wipula allowed one hit over six shutout innings as Conneaut beat Oil City, 9-0.

Wipula struck out 10 and walked just one. Wipula was also 2-for-3 with an RBI. Chase Stewart led the offensive charge for CASH, going 4-for-4 with two RBIs, while Ashton Headley was 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run.

Jacob Teeter had both of Oil City’s hits.

MEADVILLE 10, CORRY 2

CORRY, Pa. Henry Desantis-Biggs was 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBIs to help power Meadville to a 10-2 win over Corry.

Jacoby Thompson was 2-for-4 with an RBI for the Bulldogs, while Bradyn Miller was 1-for-4 with two RBIs, Ian Miller 2-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs and Rocco Tartaglione 3-for-4 with an RBI.

Tartaglione went six strong innings, allowing two runs (one earned) on five hits, striking out nine and walking two.

Karson Chamberlain and Levi Ehrhart had a pair of hits each for Corry.

FORT LEBOEUF 12, GENERAL MCLANE 9

WATERFORD, Pa. – Fort LeBoeuf scored six runs in the fourth inning en route to a 12-9 win over General McLane.

Caleb Sayers and Nate Buerk had two RBIs each for the Bison, while Matt Herr was 3-for-5 with an RBI and Jackson Lewis was 2-for-2 with two runs.

Nicholas Setterberg allowed two runs in three innings on six hits for the Bison.

Owen Eisert was 3-for-4 with three RBIs, while Alex Clark was 3-for-4 with two RBIs and Landon Roach 2-for-5 with two RBIs.

GROVE CITY 18, FRANKLIN 7, 5 innings

FRANKLIN, Pa. – Bode Stevenson was 3-for-3 with four RBIs and Paul Gubba homered as Grove City beat Franklin, 18-7.

Gubba finished 3-for-4 with a pair of RBIs, while Joey Hathaway drove in two runs, as did Will Schell, Nolan Renick and Max Knouse.

Hathaway got the win, allowing two runs (one earned) in 2 ⅓ innings on two hits, striking out two.

Sam Wimer drove in two runs for Franklin, while Alex Wible and Ethan Nightingale had two hits and one RBI each.

MAPLEWOOD 12, IROQUOIS 2, 5 innings

GUYS MILLS, Pa. – Maplewood scored 10 runs in the first inning in a 12-2, 5-inning win over Iroquois.

The big blow in the first came from Kyle Jordan, who belted a grand slam and finished with five RBIs. Jacob Woge was also 1-for-2 with an RBI for Maplewood.

Jordan also got the complete game victory, allowing two runs on three hits, striking out four and walking one.

SENECA 18, JAMESTOWN 2, 4 innings

WATTSBURG, Pa. – Klayden Komisarski was 3-for-4 with a grand slam home run and six RBIs as Seneca rolled past Jamestown, 18-2 in four innings.

Seneca scored 10 runs in the second inning, as Sean Demauri was 2-for-3 with a home run and five RBIs.

Lucas Rupp was also 2-for-2 with two RBIs for the Bobcats. Rupp got the win, allowing one run in three innings on one hit, striking out six.

Cole Ternent had an RBI single for Jamestown.

LAKEVIEW 13, WEST MIDDLESEX 2, 5 innings

STONEBORO, Pa. – Grady Harbaugh was 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBIs to help Lakeview to a 13-2, 5-inning win over West Middlesex.

The Sailors scored eight runs in the fifth inning. Jonny Husband and Cody Fagley drove in two runs each for the Sailors.

Chris Mong got the win, allowing two runs on one hit in 4 ⅔ innings, striking out two and walking five.

SHARPSVILLE 12, MERCER 0, 5 innings

SHARPSVILLE, Pa. – Sharpsville scored eight runs in the third inning of a 12-0, 5-inning win over Sharpsville.

David Moyer was 2-for-3 with three RBIs for the Blue Devils, while Caullin Summers was 2-for-3 with two RBIs, as was Jared Bissell.

Carter Dejulia got the win, allowing one hit over four innings, striking out eight.

SOFTBALL

SENECA 7, GIRARD 1

GIRARD, Pa. – Seneca scored five runs in the second inning of a 7-1 win over Girard.

Gabriana Vera, Danica Russ, Olivia Matson and Joanna Troutman had one RBI each for Seneca.
