Balanced Effort Sends Warren Past Clarion; Punxsy Tops Moniteau in Five; O-E Earns Win (Oct. 11 VB Recaps)

WARREN, Pa. – Maddy Jones led a balanced Warren effort with 10 kills as the Dragons earned a 3-0 (25-21, 25-18, 25-16) D9/10 crossover win over Clarion.

Warren trailed just once in the match, 19-18 in the first set before closing on a 7-2 run and never looking back.

The match was capped by a kill from Jones, to earn Allegheny Grille of Foxburg Player of the Game honors.

            

“We had high energy,” Jones said during the Cole Orthodontic Associates Player of the Game interview. “Today we really had our energy up and that helps us a lot.”

It was the second big win of the week for Warren, which was coming off a comeback 3-2 win over Conneaut on Monday.

Kylie Fehlman had nine kills for Warren, while Alexia Bowers and Madelyn Nosel had six each.

                          

Summer Lucks led the defense with 18 digs for the Dragons, while Lindsay Madigan had 30 set assists.

Marley Kline had 13 kills for Clarion, while Ali Burford and Anna O’Toole had six each. O’Toole also had 10 digs.

Addi Campbell had 34 set assists for the Lady Cats, while Taylor Alston added 11 digs.

PUNXSUTAWNEY 3, MONITEAU 2

WEST SUNBURY, Pa. – Ciara Toven had 23 kills and three aces to help Punxsutawney outlast homestanding Moniteau, 3-2 (28-30, 26-24, 14-25, 25-20, 15-9).

Zoey Hoover added eight kills and four blocks for the Lady Chucks while Kinsee Barnett had five kills, 11 digs, and two blocks.

Brynn Hergert led the Punxsutawney defense with 17 digs while Emily Wisnesky added 13 digs and six aces. Faith Kimmerlee also chipped in eight digs.

Danielle Griebel ran the offense for the Lady Chucks with 38 set assists and completed a double-double with 11 digs.

Lily Staab had seven kills and five digs for Moniteau with Marissa Pry adding seven kills, four digs, two aces, and two blocks, and Davina Pry nine kills and two aces. Sydney Bayless also had seven kills and eight blocks for the Lady Warriors.

OTTO-ELDRED 3, GALETON 0

                        

DUKE CENTER, Pa. – Anna Schuessler reached the 500-assist mark while recording 25 assists, three kills, and two aces in Otto-Eldred’s 3-0 (25-12, 25-14, 25-11) home win over Galeton.

Carrie Drummond was a big reason why Schuessler reached the mark recording 13 kills while finishing off a double-double with 10 digs.

Kate Rhinehart also had nine kills and eight digs for the Lady Terrors.
