Back-to-Back: Prep Repeats as PIAA 2A Boys Swimming Champions

LEWISBURG, Pa. – For the second consecutive season, the Cathedral Prep Ramblers are PIAA Class 2A team swimming and diving champions.

The Ramblers’ final event of the championships, the 400 free relay, saw them take bronze, which was enough to push them past Bishop McDevitt.

Prep finished with 194 points, while McDevitt finished with 164 points.

The Cathedral Prep girls, meanwhile, finished third in the team standings with 116 points. Mt. Pleasant won with 218.5 points, followed by Wyoming Seminary with 118.

In the 100 backstroke for the boys, Prep’s Mitchell Bradford was third in 50.60, while Warren’s Hugh Harrison was sixth at 51.80, followed by Prep’s Jack Raimy and Aidan Levis eighth.

Cathedral Prep’s Matthew Hinman finished eighth in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 59.91, while teammate Owen Carson was sixth in the 500 free at 4:47.20.

In addition, Fairview’s Aari Fox was sixth in 2A boys’ diving.

For the Prep girls, Haley Palmer was eighth in the 100 free with a time of 52.51.

Maria Costa, meanwhile, was seventh in the 100 backstroke in 57.80, an event in which Bedford’s Leah Shackley set a PIAA record with a time of 51.61.

Palmer and Costa were the only D10 swimmers to medal on the day.
