Q&A With Calogano Wilkins

D9and10Sports: How did you first get involved in sports and did you like it?
A: I got involved in sports by watching my older brother (Derreck Wilkins) play high-school football and track and watching my uncle (Tyrone Ezell) play D1 football at Pitt. I’ve learned that sports are one of those things that take me away from reality and becomes my safe place.

D9and10Sports: Who has been your biggest influence in life and why?
A: My older sister (Finnese Wilkins) throughout her diagnosis with stage four cancer and her continuing to carry on with life. Through every adversity she continued to carry on to provide for her family the best she could no matter what was thrown her way. She taught me to do the same and carry on through every adversity.

D9and10Sports: What is your favorite high school sports memory?
A: My favorite high school memory is beating our rival, Mercer High School, at home and going to the bonfire afterward to celebrate.

D9and10Sports: What is your favorite social media platform and why?
A: My favorite social media platform is Twitter. It helps me keep up on the latest sports news and it shows my friends from my school and other schools sports achievements.

D9and10Sports: What would someone who is meeting you for the first time be surprised to find out about you?
A: That I’m originally from Chicago, IL.

D9and10Sports: If there was one period in history you could go back to, what would it be and why?
A: I would go back and cherish and spend more time with my mother and get to know her better.

D9and10Sports: What will you tell your kids someday about living through the COVID-19 pandemic?
A: I would tell my kids that the COVID-19 pandemic was a very emotional time and it gave you a lot to think about. It made you realize you should be grateful for what you have because in a blink of an eye it could be taken from you.

D9and10Sports: What is your ideal place to live? Country, City, Suburb and why?
A: I would love to live in the city because there’s so much more that interests me and there’s a lot more to do.

D9and10Sports: Is there anything you wish we would have asked you? If so, what is the answer?
A: No, I’m happy to be featured and given the opportunity to get exposure.
