Warren tops Mercyhurst Prep; OV, North Clarion, Smethport Win in Five Sets (Sept. 11 VB Recaps)

WARREN, Pa. – Warren used a balanced attack to earn a 3-0 (25-21, 25-13, 25-16).

The Dragons had a balanced offensive attack, with Alexia Bowers tallying 10 kills, Kylie Fehman seven and Maddy Jones six.

Lindsay Madigan ran the offense to the tune of 26 set assists on her way to being named the Allegheny Grille of Foxburg Player of the Match.

            

“I love it,” Madigan said on the Cole Orthodontic Associates Player of the Game interview on having so many talented hitters around her. “I can go anywhere at any time. It’s amazing.”

Madigan also had three aces, while Summer Lucks had 11 digs and six aces.

Julia Seth had 16 set assists for Mercyhurst Prep, while Olivia Kulyk had five kills and eight digs and Addica Sperry nine kills and seven digs.

                          

OSWAYO VALLEY 3, COUDERSPORT 2

COUDERSPORT, Pa. – Oliva Cook had 14 digs, eight kills and four aces to help Oswayo Valley to a 3-2 (23-25, 25-16, 25-22, 23-25, 15-11) win over Coudersport.

Also for OV, Makenna Manning had three aces, 12 kills, four digs and four blocks, while Laci Miller-Geiger had 18 set assists, two aces, seven digs and one block.

Emily Eckert recorded her 600th career assist for Coudy, while Emilee Ruter surpassed 1,000 career digs.

Eckert finished with 21 set assists, six digs and four blocks, while Ruter had 31 digs and two aces, Sierra Myers six digs, 18 kills and eight blocks and Madyson Dubots-Angood 18 digs, four kills and three aces.

NORTH CLARION 3, KEYSTONE 2

FRILLS CORNERS, Pa. – Kyler Freeman had 13 kills and three digs to help lead North Clarion to a 3-2 (25-21, 17-25, 13-25, 25-20, 15-13) win over Keystone.

Also for North Clarion, Brenna Thompson had eight kills and three blocks, Ainsley Hartle four aces and 24 set assists, Julia Daum three blocks, Alexa Carll six digs and two blocks and McKenzie Lencer two aces, four digs and two blocks.

Leading Keystone were Ava Patrick (11 kills, 5 blocks), Bryanna Mong (8 set assists, 5 aces), Gwyn Manno (21 digs), and Audrey Burrows (16 points).

                        

SMETHPORT 3, CAMERON COUNTY 2

SMETHPORT, Pa. – Elizabeth Hungiville had 14 kills, four blocks, nine digs and three aces to lead Smethport to a 3-2 (23-25, 20-25, 25-23, 25-20, 15-10) win over Cameron County.

Madi Faes ran Smethport’s offense to the tune of 25 set assists, three aces, four kills, two blocks and 13 digs, while Madison Swanson had three aces, five kills, five assists and 11 digs.

Aubree Lorenzo had 16 kills to go along with five digs for Cameron County, while Ava Hilfiger had 11 kills and three blocks and Elsie Breslin seven kills and three blocks.

PORT ALLEGANY 3, NORTHERN POTTER 0

         

PORT ALLEGANY, Pa. – Isla Lehmier had 26 set assists to help Port Allegany to a 3-0 (25-20, 25-18, 25-10) win over Port Allegany.

Also pacing the Gators were Lily Lehmier (8 kills, 2 blocks, 3 aces), Jenna Renner (8 kills, 4 aces) and Kayleighta Dowell (5 kills, 3 blocks, 3 aces, 12 digs).

Leading Northern Potter were Kayla Hyde (9 digs, 4 aces, 1 kill) and Haylee Chapman (6 digs, 1 block).

UNION CITY 3, ERIE FIRST CHRISTIAN 1

UNION CITY, Pa. – Cathryn Reynolds had 11 kills and 11 digs as Union City earned a 3-1 (18-25, 25-14, 25-17, 25-17) win over Erie First Christian.

Alyssa Tingley had 30 set assists, 10 digs and five aces for the Bears, while Lilly Vincent had seven digs and Brooke VanTassel eight kills and two blocks.

SENECA 3, FAIRVIEW 2

WATTSBURG, Pa. – Ava Guzowski had 22 set assists, 11 aces and five kills to help Seneca to a 3-2 win over Fairview.

Emily Stafford had eight kills, Izzy Wisniewski seven and Ava Guzowski six for the Bobcats.

Wisniewski also had 14 digs for Seneca.

GENERAL MCLANE 3, NORTHWESTERN 2

ALBION, Pa. – Cassidy Swain had 11 kills and six blocks as General McLane outlasted Northwestern, 3-2 (24-26, 25-15, 12-25, 25-20, 15-12).

Also leading GM were Morgan Frick (12 digs, 16 assists), Ellah Beachly (15 digs, 2 aces), Ella Sturgess (7 kills, 4 blocks), Kiley Leasure (5 kills, 3 aces) and Pacey Morgan (11 digs, 2 aces, 16 set assists).

JAMESTOWN 3, FARRELL 0

FARRELL, Pa. – Madilyn Enterline had 10 kills to help lead Jamestown to a 3-0 (26-24, 26-24, 25-20) win over Farrell.

Enterline also had eight digs and four aces, while Hannah Hart had five kills, and Emily Enterline 19 set assists.

MARION CENTER 3, PUNXSUTAWNEY 2

PUNXSUTAWNEY, Pa. – Danielle Griebel had 30 set assists and two aces, but Punxsutawney lost a 5-set thriller to Marion Center, 25-23, 18-25, 13-25, 25-18, 20-18.

Ciara Toven had 15 kills and an ace for the Chucks, while Samantha Griebel had 12 kills, three aces and eight digs, Brynn Hergert 12 digs, Kinsee Barnett two kills and two blocks, Zoey Hoover three kills and three blocks and Emily Wisneksy one ace and four digs.

MCDOWELL 3, CATHEDRAL PREP 0

ERIE, Pa. – Holly Guentner had eight aces, seven set assists and six digs as McDowell beat rival Cathedral Prep, 3-0 (25-22, 25-12, 25-22).

Also for the Trojans, Chase Rech had 12 digs, Josie Plaster eight assists and Sophia Nestor seven kills.

For Prep, Coc Speros had six kills, Carolina Krahe five kills, Olivia Hutchinson five kills, Mackenzie Moore seven digs and Kamryn Resurreccion 18 set assists and 10 digs.

HICKORY 3, WEST MIDDLESEX 0

WEST MIDDLESEX, Pa. – Leah Garm had 12 kills, nine digs and two aces to help lead Hickory to a 3-0 (25-23, 25-19, 25-17) win over West Middlesex.

Bella Multari had 15 set assists, 15 digs and five aces for the Hornets, while Mallory Nucerino had eight digs and Arianna DeBlasio 12 digs.

FRANKLIN 3, CRANBERRY 1

FRANKLIN, Pa. – Jenn Blum had nine kills and 27 digs to help lead Franklin to a 3-1 win over Cranberry.

Also for Franklin, Katie Boal had nine kills and five blocks, while Abby Boland had eight kills and two blocks, Jamie Blum eight kills and Estella Adams 27 assists.

Leading Cranberry were Ayanna Ferringer (21 kills, 9 digs 5 blocks, 2 aces), Allie Rembold (20 set assists, 3 aces), Reyna Watson (14 digs), Avery Coe (8 digs, 2 kills) and Sarah Schoch (6 kills).

JOHNSONBURG 3, BRADFORD 2

BRADFORD, Pa. – Marlee Cherry had 15 kills and nine blocks to help lead Johnsonburg to a 3-2 (22-25, 25-20, 25-20, 16-25, 15-12) win over Bradford.

Also leading the Ramettes were Kiera Marciniak (8 kills, 3 blocks), Grace Elmquist (5 kills, 5 aces, 1 block), Natalie Dunworth (2 kills, 6 aces, 10 digs), Maria Casilio (15 digs) and Cadence Brechtel (36 set assists, 5 aces, 6 digs, 2 blocks).

Pacing Bradford were Camryn Tilford (4 kills, 4 blocks), Addie Carter (4 kills), Haley Keane (6 blocks) and Kendall Case (7 digs).

IROQUOIS 3, ERIE HIGH 0

ERIE, Pa. – Grace Abele had 10 kills to help lead Iroquois to a 3-0 win over Erie (25-13, 25-15, 25-20).

Karina Reichard added five kills for Iroquois, while Riann Donoghue had four kills, Jasmine Cody five aces and Mile Gehrlein-Carpenter 20 assists.

REDBANK VALLEY 3, BROOKVILLE 1

BROOKVILLE, Pa. – Izzy Bond had 13 kills and 12 digs as Redbank Valley beat Brookville, 3-1 (24-26, 25-13, 25-22, 25-21).

Mylee Harmon had 11 kills, eight digs and five aces for Redbank, while Taylor Ripple had 14 kills and nine digs, Kira Bonanno four kills and 13 digs and Elaina Carrico 29 set assists.

Whitney Guth had seven kills and three aces and Julie Monnoyer five kills and two blocks and Averi Pangallo four kills for Brookville.

DUBOIS 3, ST. MARYS 0

DUBOIS, Pa. – DuBois topped St. Marys, 3-0, 25-13, 25-14, 25-11).

For St. Marys, Hannah Ritter had six kills, Rylee Nicklas four kills and Molly Hanslovan 14 set assists.

CLEARFIELD 3, CURWENSVILLE 0

CURWENSVILLE, Pa. – Hannah Glunt had 22 set assists and six aces to help Clearfield to a 3-0 (25-12, 25-23, 25-13).

Gabby Henry had nine kills, Addy Ruiz five kills and Sam Campolong had five kills for the Bison.

LAKEVIEW 3, GIRARD 0

GIRARD, Pa. – Lakeview topped Girard in three sets, 25-8, 25-12, 25-14.

Alivia Montgomery had 10 digs for Girard.
