Thursday Night Lights: Davis, St. Marys Run Past Ridgway; Campbell, Moniteau Power Past Elk County Catholic

   
   

JOHNSONBURG, Pa. – It was the Matthew Davis show at Johnsonburg under the Thursday night lights.

The St. Marys running back carried 28 times for 211 yards and a pair of touchdowns as the Dutchmen moved to 2-0 with a 28-14 win over Ridgway.

St. Marys led 22-6 at halftime, as Davis scored on a 1-yard run, followed by a Cam Coudriet 19-yard touchdown pass to Ben Reynolds that made it 15-0.

Ridgway got on the board on Cameron Larkin’s 5-yard run with 6:12 to go in the second quarter to cap a 17-play, 71-yard drive.

St. Marys drove 64 yards on its ensuing possession, as Reynolds scored on a 16-yard run to make it 22-6.

            

The Elkers took advantage of a short field to get within one score, 22-14 at the 2:49 mark of the third quarter on Rocco Delhunty’s 4-yard touchdown run.

Davis had the answer, however, breaking free on a 47-yard touchdown run with 9:02 to play.

Reynolds had two receptions for 45 yards and also rushed three times for 14 yards, while Coudriet was 5-of-12 through the air for 71 yards.

Larkin had 68 yards on 21 carries for Ridgway, while Delhunty carried 12 times for 32 yards.

MONITEAU 34, ELK COUNTY CATHOLIC 14

                          

ST. MARYS, Pa. – Moniteau outscored Elk County Catholic 19-0 in the second half to pull away for a 34-14 win.

Logan Campbell scored three times, including on a 65-yard touchdown run in the third quarter to help the Warriors pull away.

Campbell finished with 117 yards on the ground on 17 carries, while Kole Scott carried 14 times for 116 yards.

Trent Beachem was 10-of-17 through the air for Moniteau for 156 yards and two touchdowns, both of which went to Campbell, who also had 97 yards receiving on a pair of catches.

Campbell’s big game extended to the defensive side of the ball as well, finishing with 10 tackles (3 for loss) and a sack.

The Warriors finished with four interceptions, as Blaine Jamison collected two of them (as well as a blocked extra point) and Brendon Sankey and Ashton Grossman one each. Brock Beahem had two tackles for loss.
