CLARION, Pa. – St. Marys won the team title at the inaugural District 9 Wrestling League regular-season tournament with 217 points, 11 points ahead of second-place Brookville.
This despite the Dutch having just one champion – Andrew Wolfanger at 172 points – to Brookville’s three – Cole Householder at 145 pounds, Easton Belfiore at 189 pounds, and Gavin Hannah at 215 pounds.
That was because the Dutch had four second-place finishers and six third-place finishers compared to one runner-up and one third-place finisher for the Raiders.
Cranberry, which finished third in the team race with 168 points, had four champions – Aiden Thompson at 107 pounds, Dalton Wenner at 114 pounds, Elijah Brosius at 127 pounds, and Devyn Fleeher at 152 pounds.
Fourth-place finisher Brockway (149 points) had two champions – Weston Pisarchick at 121 pounds and Parker Pisarchick at 139 pounds – as did fifth-place DuBois (147.5 points) – Samson Deeb at 133 pounds and Zach Gallagher at heavyweight.
Host Central Clarion, which took sixth (116.5 points) had the remaining champion with Jacob Henry winning at 160 pounds.
