EAST STROUDSBURG 13, NO. 13 INDIANA 12
INDIANA, Pa. – Trailing by one with the ball inside the five-yard line, the 13th-ranked IUP football team could not get a potential game-winning field goal attempt lined up in an unusual 13-12 loss to East Stroudsburg on Saturday at Miller Stadium in the Hall of Fame Game.
IUP (1-1) attempted to position the ball for a game-winning field goal with time ticking away, looking to close out a drive that spanned around 70 yards. East Stroudsburg (2-0) converted the go-ahead touchdown on a 59-yard catch and run down the left sideline, orchestrated by backup QB Charlie McKee, later missing the ensuing two-point conversion for a 13-12 advantage. McKee stepped in for starter Aaron Tobias and played the entire game.
BLOOMSBURG 21, CLARION 7
CLARION, Pa. – The Golden Eagle football team moved the ball effectively for much of the afternoon but were unable to take advantage in the red zone, as Clarion dropped a 21-7 decision to Bloomsburg at Memorial Stadium on Saturday. They largely kept the Huskies in check, but a trio of ill-timed big plays allowed Bloomsburg to come away with the road win.
The offensive totals between the two teams were nearly identical. Clarion slightly outgained Bloomsburg 321-315, though that was largely the result of more sustained drives by the Golden Eagles; Clarion rans 14 more plays on offense than the Huskies, and time of possession skewed toward them with a time of 32:52.
