Sept. 5 soccer recaps

PORT ALLEGANY 1, RIDGWAY 0, overtime

RIDGWAY, Pa. – Sienna Lathrop scored with 1:30 left in the first overtime to lift Port Allegany to 1 -0 win over RIdgway.

Lathrop’s goal came on an assist from Ellie Yeager.

Jenn Baxter had five saves to earn the clean sheet in net for Port.

            

Sara Zameroski had five stops for Ridgway.

REDBANK VALLEY 5, FOREST AREA 3

NEW BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lia Hageter scored three goals as Redbank Valley beat Forest Area, 5-3.

Alexandra Shoemaker had a pair of goals for Redbank Valley as well. The Bulldogs led 3-1 at halftime en route to the win.

CLEARFIELD 7, CENTRAL CAMBRIA 0

                          

HYDE, Pa. – Kaylie Brown, Alayna Winters and Myleigh Hudson had two goals each as Clearfield blanked Central Cambria, 7-0.

Emily McCracken had the other goal for the Bison, while Mia Smith had two assists and Hudson, Winters and Brown one each.

Mia Helsel had two saves in net for Clearfield.

WILMINGTON 2, GREENVILLE 1

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – Analiese Hendrickson and Carly Hogg scored first half goals to lead Wilmington to a 2-1 win over Greenville.

Sarah Dieter and Hendrickson had assists for the Greyhounds.

Lily Bailey scored on an assist from Bella Whtieman in the second half for Greenville.

KEYSTONE 6, SHARPSVILLE 5, overtime

SHARPSVILLE, Pa. – Jill Winters had a hat trick, including the game-winner, as Keystone outlasted Sharpsville, 6-5 in overtime.

Abbi Sell, Jovia Kinsler and Sarah Cotton had one goal each for Keystone.

                        

Jerzey Bell got the win in net with 18 stops.

Sharpsville’s Macie Steiner had a big game in the overtime loss with four goals, while Myleigh McCormack added one.

Clarissa Elay had four assists for the Blue Devils.

BROOKVILLE 3, ELK COUNTY CATHOLIC 1

BROOKVILLE, Pa. – Kaida Yoder had a pair of goals to help lead Brookville to a 3-1 win over Karns City.

         

Ally Wilson had two assists for the Raiders, while Bentley Hughey had seven stops in net.

BOYS

ELK COUNTY CATHOLIC 4, COUDERSPORT 0

COUDERSPORT, Pa. – Elk County Catholic scored all four of its goals in the first half in a 4-0 win over Coudersport.

The Crusaders had four different players score goals – Ben Cerroni, Aaron Bennett, Bradyn Pistner and Timmy Brannock. The goal for Bennett was the first of his varsity career.

“We’re a young team, so it was nice to get everyone in,” said Brannock, who was named the Allegheny Grille of Foxburg Player of the Match. “We finished a lot of our chances. We lost a couple of seniors last year so we’re still getting the dynamics and fitting everything together and I think it’s coming along.”

Lance O’Neil, Bobby Urmann and Christian Schmidt had assists.

Sagan Beaver recorded the shutout in net.

SLIPPERY ROCK 3, MERCER 2, overtime

MERCER, Pa. – Trent Davey scored a pair of goals as Slippery Rock beat Mercer, 3-2 in overtime.

Max Kovacik had the other goal for Slippery Rock, while Zach Lasko added an assist.

Cole Cunningham had a goal and an assist for Mercer, while Jonah Dadich had the other goal and Braden Balaski an assist.

GENERAL MCLANE 4, GIRARD 3, overtime

GIRARD, Pa. – Ethan Bihler scored two goals as General McLane outlasted Girard, 4-3 in overtime.

Cooper Robson and David Price also had goals for GM, while Bihler had an assist.

Caleb Watt, Brandon Thayer and Landon Snow all found the back of the net for Girard.

KANE 12, PUNXSUTAWNEY 0

PUNXSUTAWNEY, Pa. – Ethan Illberun scored four goals and also had two assists as Kane beat Punxsutawney, 12-0.
