PAC Football: McGowan, Westminster Top Thiel; Geneva Scores Late to Edge Allegheny; Grove City Rolls

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – Ty McGowan threw for 173 yards and a pair of touchdown and Sharon grad Lane Voytik threw another as Westminster knocked off Thiel, 28-7.

Ryan Gomes also rushed for 53 yards and a touchdown for Westminster, which led 21-0 at halftime.

Reynolds grad Luke Faber had eight tackles and a sack for Thiel, while Eisenhower alum Owen Trumbull was 10-of-15 through the air for 81 yards.

GROVE CITY 43, WAYNESBURG 27

            

WAYNESBURG, Pa. – Logan Pfeuffer threw for 272 yards and a touchdown and ran for two short touchdowns as Grove City earned a 43-27 win over Waynesburg.

Nico Flati had 75 yards and two touchdowns for Grove City, while West Middlesex grad Clayton Parrish had 51 yards and a touchdown on the ground.

Grove City rallied from an early 14-7 deficit, outscoring Waynesburg 16-0 in the second quarter.

GENEVA 27, ALLEGHENY 21

                          

MEADVILLE, Pa. – Darin Myers’ 8-yard touchdown run with 1:03 to play broke a 21-all tie and lifted Geneva to a 27-21 win over Allegheny.

Myers rushed for 84 yards and two touchdowns and also threw for 109 yards and a touchdown.

Jack Johnson threw for 264 yards and two touchdowns for Allegheny, one of which went to Declan O’Brien, who had 13 receptions for 158 yards.

NO. 17 CARNEGIE MELLON 38, SAINT VINCENT 0

PITTSBURGH – The Carnegie Mellon University football team, ranked 17th nationally, opened its home schedule with a 38-0 Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) victory over the Bearcats of Saint Vincent on Saturday afternoon.

Carnegie Mellon totaled 406 yards of offense while holding Saint Vincent to 164 yards, including 34 rushing yards.

WASHINGTON & JEFFERSON 42, BETHANY 0

BETHANY, W. Va. – Jacob Pugh threw for 294 yards and five touchdowns to lead W&J to a 42-0 win over Bethany.

                        

John Peduzzi (161 yards) and Anthony Rosati (102 yards) had two receiving touchdowns each for W&J, which led 35-0 at halftime.
