MCLEAN, Va. – The 2022 high school football season concluded two months ago, but the accolades keep rolling in for Oil City junior Ethen Knox.

Knox was one of 25 players nationally to be named to the All-USA Today High School Sports Awards (HSSA) Offensive Team, announced this week.

Those 25 players are also nominees for the 2022-23 All-USA Today Offensive Player of the Year.

The winner will be revealed this summer during an on-demand broadcast that will feature top athletes in 31 boys and girls sports awards categories, as well as special honors like Special Olympics Athlete of the Year, Rising Star, and Play of the Year.

Knox is one of six running backs on the team, joining Jarvis Green of Dutch Fork (S.C.), Judah Price of Independence (W. Va.), Roderick Robinson of Lincoln (Calif.), Lamar Sperling of Archbishop Hoban (Ohio), and Wynn Stang of Mukwonago (Wis.).

He is one of just three juniors on the team, joining quarterbacks Micah Alejado of Bishop Gorman (Nev.) and 5-star prospect Jadyn Davis of Providence Day School (N.C.), and one of just two players from Pennsylvania, joining incoming 5-star Penn State offensive line prospect J’ven Williams.

Knox had a special season for the Oilers, accounting for 41 rushing touchdowns, averaging 370.5 yards per game on the ground, and rushed for at least 400 yards in six games, including four in a row from Week 2 through Week 5. That broke a national record for most games with 400-plus yards in a season that was held by current Tennessee Titans star Derrick Henry.

Knox was also a ball hawk on defense, recording six interceptions to go along with 63 tackles.
