Farrell Rallies Past Grove City; Sharon Keeps Shutout Streak Alive; Iroquois Snaps Losing Streak

   
   

FARRELL, Pa. – Kabron Smith’s 15-yard touchdown pass to Danny Odem with 3:17 to play lifted Farrell to a 21-14 Region 3 win over Grove City.

Grove City had taken a 14-13 lead on Hunter Hohman’s 80-yard interception return with 6:17 to play.

Farrell built a 13-0 halftime lead on the strength of a pair of Smith touchdown passes – a 10-yarder to Odem in the first quarter and a 13-yarder to Brandon Chambers in the second quarter.

Nathan Greer returned the opening kickoff of the second half 80 yards for a touchdown.

Smith finished 20-of-35 for 234 yards, while Odem caught 12 passes for 125 yards. Smith also had a team-high 66 yards rushing.

            

Hohman rushed 21 times for 46 yards and threw for 45 yards on 8-of-17 passing.

SHARON 12, HICKORY 0

HERMITAGE, Pa. – Mister Ham’s 1-yard touchdown run at the 9:19 mark of the second quarter proved to be the only offense Sharon needed in a 12-0 win over Hickory.

Sharon now has three straight shutouts to open the season after blanking Neshannock in Week 1 and Warren in Week 2. Hickory came into the game with 108 points scored in the first two weeks of the season.

                          

The 6-0 score stood until early in the fourth when Ham connected with CC Harrison for a 43-yard touchdown 49 seconds into the fourth quarter.

Ham finished with 116 yards through the air (85 of which went to Harrison), while Cortez Nixon had 79 yards on the ground for the Giers.

Xander Telesz rushed for 31 yards to lead Hickory.

NORTH EAST 35, OIL CITY 0

OIL CITY, Pa. – Jamari Curlett and Jackson Humes were at it again for North East.

The duo connected for three touchdowns and Curlett also had a punt return for a touchdown early in the third quarter of North East’s 35-0 win over Oil City.

Oil City was playing without star running back Ethen Knox, who missed the game due to injury.

Humes and Curlett connected on touchdown tosses of 27 and 16 yards as North East (2-1) built a 14-0 halftime advantage.

Curlett’s punt return early in the quarter was followed by a 67-yard strike from Humes to Curlett late in the third.

Humes put the finishing touches on his night with a 60-yard scoring strike to Carter Crozier in the fourth quarter.

                        

Humes was 10-of-12 for 257 yards and the four touchdowns, while Curlett had four receptions for 111 yards.

Jon Hargenrader had 91 yards on the ground to lead Oil City.

IROQUOIS 13, NORTHWESTERN 7

ERIE, Pa. – Iroquois snapped its 17-game losing streak with a 13-7 win over Northwestern.

The Braves’ last win came on Sept. 16, 2021, a 14-12 victory over Kennedy Catholic

Savion Peoples’ 14-yard touchdown run in the third quarter gave Iroquois a 13-0 lead and proved to be the difference.

Christian Krysiak scored on a 1-yard touchdown run in the first quarter for Iroquois.

Cole Mikovch threw a 23-yard touchdown pass to Lloyd Fountain in the fourth quarter for Northwestern before Iroquois was able to close it out.

Peoples led Ioquois with 79 rushing yards.

FORT LEBOEUF 22, TITUSVILLE 7

         

TITUSVILLE, Pa. – In a game that saw all of the scoring come in the first half, Conner McChesney scored on a pair of rushing touchdowns to help Fort LeBoeuf to a 22-7 win over Titusville.

Titusville actually struck first on an Ian McDonald 24-yard touchdown pass to Kameron Mong in the first quarter, but that was all the scoring the Rockets had after putting up 48 points a week ago against Sharpsville.

McChesney’s 10-yard touchdown run and the 2-point conversion that followed gave LeBoeuf an 8-7 lead.

Aiden Lesik broke free on a 44-yard touchdown run early in the second quarter, which was followed by a 30-yard scoring run from McChesney.

Lesik finished with 114 yards on the ground and McChesney 60.

McDonald threw for 65 yards, with 59 of those going to Mong.

NORTH ALLEGHENY 43, MCDOWELL 24

ERIE, Pa. – Tyree Alualu rushed for 150 yards and three touchdowns as WPIAL power North Allegheny topped McDowell, 43-24.

McDowell trailed 16-0 after the first quarter and got to within 22-17 on Alex Sontheimer’s 31-yards, but Evan Lyon returned the ensuing kickoff 96 yards for a touchdown and Alualu’s 10-yard touchdown run early in the fourth quarter made it 36-17.

Lyon also caught two touchdown passes from Logan Kushner, who had 118 yards passing.

Blayze Myers had a strong game through the air for McDowell, completing 30-of-46 passes for 325 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions.

Myers’ touchdown pass went to Dominic Beraducci and finished with 50 yards receiving, while James Zigler Jr. led with 92 receiving yards.

Stephon Porter had 46 yards rushing and a touchdown for McDowell, while Myers also had a rushing touchdowns.

MERCYHURST PREP 56, SENECA 6

WATTSBURG, Pa. – JJ Ganska had 106 rushing, two rushing touchdowns and one receiving touchdown as Mercyhurst Prep improved to 3-0 with a 56-6 win over Seneca.

Paul Johnson, meanwhile, threw for 262 yards and three touchdowns, two of which went to Ja’son Ellman, as the Lakers built a 38-6 halftime lead.

Johnson also had 86 yards rushing, while Ellman had 57 yards receiving. Ramir Wallace led the Lakers with 85 yards receiving.

Seneca’s lone score came on a Rylan Harwood kickoff return for touchdown.

EISENHOWER 34, UNION CITY 13

UNION CITY, Pa. – Tucker Lindell scored on a pair of second half rushing touchdowns to break a 13-13 halftime tie and help Eisenhower to a 34-13 win over Union City.

Shawn Pascuzzi actually got the scoring going for Eisenhower in the second half with a 49-yard touchdown run.

Lindell scored on a 10-yard touchdown run in the third quarter and an 11-yarder in the fourth quarter.

Union City struck first just over a minute into the game as Austin Sherwood connected with Daithan Kent on a 45-yard touchdown.

The next two scores belonged to the Knights, as Pascuzzi threw a pair of touchdown passes to Kris Bunk covering 13 and seven yards.

Skylar Olmstead’s 4-yard touchdown run with 28 seconds to go in the first half tied the game.

Pascuzzi finished with 94 yards rushing and 78 yards passing. Logan Penley added 62 yards rushing and Bunk 53 yards receiving.

Olmstead led Union City on the ground with 93 yards.

MERCYHURST PREP 56, SENECA 6GIRARD 49, WARREN 13

GIRARD, Pa. – Carson Stevens threw for 269 yards and five touchdowns to lead Girard to a 49-13 win over Warren.

The Yellow Jackets built a 28-6 halftime lead as Stevens threw touchdowns passes to Tyler Mayes (17 yards), James Kibbe (44 yards) and Derek Robinson (2 yards), while also getting a 40-yard touchdown run from Jeremiah Colon to open the scoring.

Kibbe and Stevens hooked up for a 49-yard score in the third quarter, with Stevens capping his evening with a 15-yard scoring strike to Aidan Arnold.

Eric Dippold threw a 15-yard touchdown pass to Ben Sowa in the first half and Dippold scored on a 1-yard touchdown run in the second half.

Kibbe finished with 136 yards receiving for Girard.

Dippold threw for 172 yards, 113 of which went to John Corbett.

CAMBRIDGE SPRINGS 41, MAPLEWOOD 0

CAMBRIDGE SPRINGs, Pa – Jordan Washington returned the opening kickoff of the game for a touchdown and Cambridge Springs never looked back, improving to 3-0 with a 41-0 win over Maplewood.

Washington scored both the first and last touchdowns of the evening for the Blue Devils, adding a 37-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter.

Preston and Josh Gorton each scored a pair of rushing touchdowns as well for the Blue Devils. Preston scored on runs of 40 and 1 yards and Josh on runs of 22 and 11 yards.

Josh Gorton finished with 78 yards rushing, Josh Gorton 77 and Brett Kania 84.

Michael Wickstrom had 32 yards on 13 carries for the Tigers.

GENERAL MCLANE 34, FRANKLIN 14

EDINBORO, Pa. – Jacob Zeitz had a pair of first-half touchdown receptions and also recorded three interceptions on defense as General McLane beat Franklin, 34-14.

Jared Corwin got the scoring going for GM on a 30-yard strike from Isaac Zeitz, which was followed by a Mangus Lloyd pick six to make it 14-0 less than four minutes into the game.

The Zeitz to Zetiz connection worked for those two scores to make it 28-0, and Cohen Beachly’s 15-yard touchdown run made it 34-0.

Isaac Zeitz had 172 yards passing, while Jacob Zeitz had 71 yards receiving.

Bryson Watson scored on touchdown runs of seven and six yards for Franklin. Cole Buckley had 170 receiving yards for Franklin and also intercepted a pass on defense.

MEADVILLE 55, FAIRVIEW 17

MEADVILLE, Pa. – Bradyn Miller scored three rushing touchdowns as Meadville earned a 55-17 win over Fairview.

Miller’s first touchdown run of the game came on a 28-yard touchdown run in the first quarter, which was followed by a 45-yard touchdown run by Brighton Anderson.

Tahlir McClure and Jordan Lawrence also had rushing touchdowns in the first half as Meadville built a 34-14 lead.

Anderson added touchdown runs of 80 and 13 yards in the second half for Meadville.

Miller finished with 240 yards on the ground for the Bulldogs, while Anderson had 96.

Vinny Campoli threw a 53-yard touchdown pass to Jake Harkness and also had a rushing touchdown for Fairview.

BUTLER 38, BRASHEAR 0

PITTSBURGH – David Graef and Landon Lacey had two rushing touchdowns each as Butler blanked Brashear, 38-0.

Braylon Littlejohn had 99 yards on the ground to help lead the Golden Tornado to their second straight win.
