ECC’s Emmert Hits 1,000 Assists; Oswayo Valley’s Perkins 1,000 Digs (Sept. 28 recaps)

JOHNSONBURG, Pa. – Kiri Emmert recorded her 1,000th career set assists while picking up 50 set assists in Elk County Catholic’s comeback, 3-1 (23-25, 25-20, 25-15, 25-14) win over Johnsonburg.

Emmert needed just a varsity season and a half to reach the milestone.

Tori Newton had a monster night at the net for the Lady Crusaders, naked fourth in the state, recording 26 kills.

Reagan Bauer added 12 kills and two aces for ECC with Lucy Klawuhn chipping in 11 kills.

            

Marlee Cherry led Johnsonburg with 11 kills and six blocks with Kiera Marciniak adding seven kills, six digs, and three blocks.

Maria Casilio led the Ramettes on defense with 22 digs, Natalie Dunworth added 19 digs, and Zoey Grunthaner had 10 digs and five aces.

Cadence Brechtel ran the offense for Johnsonburg with 27 set assists and added three aces, two blocks, and two kills.

OSWAYO VALLEY 3, OTTO-ELDRED 0

SHINGLEHOUSE, Pa. – Praylan Perkins recorded her 1,000th career digs while picking up 13 digs in a 3-0 (25-17, 25-12, 25-23) Oswayo Valley sweep of visiting Otto-Eldred.

Makenna Manning paced the Green Wave with six kills while adding four digs, two blocks, and two aces, and Eva West had five aces, five kills, and nine digs.

Carrie Drummond had a match-high 12 kills and finished off a double-double with 10 digs for Otto-Eldred. Rayel Hakes chipped in four kills and two blocks, and Anna Schuessler ran the offense for the Lady Terrors with 21 set assists while also adding five digs.

AUSTIN 3, CAMERON COUNTY 0

EMPORIUM, Pa. – Austin continued to roll with a 3-0 (25-19, 25-14, 25-16) win at Cameron County thanks to 17 combined kills and 10 combined aces from Jade Williams and Savannah Horton.

Williams had nine kills and seven aces and Horton added eight kills and three aces.

Ella Brewer also had 18 digs for the Lady Panthers, and Marah Fowler ran the offense with 24 set assists.

Caitlyn Palumbo led Cameron County with six kills while Hailey McAulay had 17 set assists.

HARBOR CREEK 3, MERCYHURST PREP 2

                        

HARBORCREEK, Pa. – Hannah Smith had 16 kills as Harbor Creek held off visiting Mercyhurst Prep, 3-2 (25-19, 25-19, 19-25, 21-25, 15-7).

Elise Benim added seven kills and 13 digs for the Huskies, while Liz Gunther had seven kills.

Talon King and Addison Lucas ran the offense for Harbor Creek with 20 and 15 set assists respectfully, while Elyse Kent chipped in six digs and Lexi Janke five kills.

Olivia Kulyk had 20 kills, seven digs, and six blocks for Mercyhurst Prep with Addica Sperry adding 12 kills and 16 digs, Da’Zhana Jordan 12 digs, and Mya Fuller 11 digs.

Julia Seth ran the offense for the Lakers with 335 set assists.

         

COUDERSPORT 3, PORT ALLEGANY 1

PORT ALLEGANY, Pa. – In its quest for the NTL title, Coudersport picked up a key 3-1 (25-14, 22-25, 26-24, 25-15) road win over Port Allegany thanks to 19 kills, eight blocks, and two aces from Sierra Myers.

Savannah Myers added five aces, three kills, and 16 digs for the Lady Falcons, who entered play a game up in the loss column in conference play over both Port Allegany and Oswayo Valley.

Emilee Ruter paced the Coudersport defense with 24 digs, and Madyson Dubots-Angood added 17 digs and four kills. That included Dubots-Angood’s 600th career digs.

Ella Moses had 13 kills, 12 digs, and four blocks for Port Allegany with Jenna Renner adding six kills, 20 digs, and two blocks.

Isla Lehmier ran the Lady Gators’ offense with 25 set assists.

SAEGERTOWN 3, GREENVILLE 0

SAEGERTOWN, Pa. – Nine kills apiece from Lyndzee Amory and Brywn McLaughlin helped Saegertown defend home court with a 3-0 (25-9, 25-14, 25-12) win over Greenville.

McLaughlin also added three aces, while Amory contributed four blocks.

Maggie Triola had eight kills in the win while Rylie Brayer dug up 12 balls and Alyssa Arblaster added 11 digs.

Lindsey Greco ran the offense for the Panthers with 24 set assists.

UNION CITY 3, NORTHWESTERN 0

UNION CITY, Pa. – Cathryn Reynolds and Angie Hopson each put down nine kills to lift Union City to a 3-0 (25-17, 25-9, 25-14) sweep of visiting Northwestern.

Reynolds added three digs, while Brooke VanTassel chipped in three kills and two blocks.

Alyssa Tingley ran the offense for the Bears with 16 set assists while finishing a double-double with 11 digs. She also served five aces.

CLARION 3, A-C VALLEY 0

FOXBURG, Pa. – Rebounding from its first KSAC loss in six seasons, Clarion got 12 kills and three digs from Marley Kline to pick up a 3-0 (25-17, 25-13, 25-16) road win over A-C Valley.

The Lady Cats served 14 aces in the contest led by seven from Alicyn Burford, who also had three kills, two blocks, and a dig.

Alivia Diehl added five kills in the victory, while Adi Campbell ran the offense with 25 set assists.

Bella Ielase had five kills and 14 digs for A-C Valley with Maddy Dehart adding three kills and three blocks and Lexi Altman eight set assists, six digs, and three aces.

MAPLEWOOD 3, TIDIOUTE CHARTER 0

TIDIOUTE, Pa. – Rebounding from a tough loss to Warren Wednesday, Maplewood went on the road and swept past Tidioute Charte, 3-0 (25-6, 25-11, 25-13) behind 12 kills from Elizabeth Hunter.

Madison O’Hara added seven kills for the Tigers while Maggie Means ran the offense with 28 set assists while adding eight digs, three kills, and three aces.

SLIPPERY ROCK 3, FRANKLIN 0

FRANKLIN, Pa. – Slippery Rock got 24 set assists from Anora Robare to beat homestanding Franklin, 3-0 (25-15, 25-22, 25-14).

Molly Bissell and Avalee Demidovich each had eight kill,s and Lillian Campbell chipped in five kills. Demoidovich also served seven aces.

Katie Boal led Franklin with 10 kills and four blocks with Jillian Ewing adding 19 digs. Estella Adams ran the offense for the Knights with 27 set assists.

NORTH CLARION 3, FOREST AREA 0

FRILLS CORNERS, Pa. – Julia Daum had nine kills and two aces to lift North Clarion top a 3-0 (25-12, 25-14, 25-8) win over visiting Forest Area.

Lily Homan added six kills and two aces for the She-Wolves who also got five kills and three aces from McKenzie Lencer.

Ainsley Hartle ran the offense for North Clarion with 22 set assists and also served four aces.

CONNEAUT 3, ERIE 0

ERIE, Pa. – A double-double of 10 kills and 14 digs from Paris Karastury helped visiting Conneaut sweep Erie, 3-0 (25-9, 25-17, 25-18).

Laine Harrington led the Eagles with 14 kills, while Kenady Oates had 19 digs. Peyten Karastury ran the offense with 34 set assists.

CLARION-LIMESTONE 3, REDBANK VALLEY 1

NEW BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Clarion-Limestone moved to 11-0 on the season with its second win of the year over Redbank Valley, this time 3-1 (25-21, 25-18, 23-25, 25-22) on the road.

Jenna Dunn paced the Lady Lions with 11 kills with Hannah Beggs and Alyssa Wiant each adding 10 kills. Beggs completed a double-double with 13 digs with Dunn adding eight digs and Abby Knapp-Greeley also had eight digs.

Kaylee Smith ran the offense for C-L with 32 set assists.

Taylor Ripple had a double-double for Redbank Valley with 11 kills and 11 digs while Mylee Harmon added 12 kills and eight digs and Izzy Bond six kills and six digs.

Elaina Carrico ran the offense for the Lady Bulldogs with 19 set assists.

FAIRVIEW 3, GIRARD 0

FAIRVIEW, Pa. – Fairview swept visiting Girard, 3-0 (25-10, 25-9, 26-24) thanks to seven kills apiece from Amelia Pasinskiand Jenna Shultz.

Sarah Adams served great for the Tigers with five aces, and Addyson Greene ran the offense with 22 set assists while also serving five aces.

Bri Vollant had 11 digs for Girard with Laurel Counsasse adding 12 set assists and Emily Miller five kills.

DUBOIS CENTRAL CATHOLIC 3, RIDGWAY 0

RIDGWAY, Pa. – Jessy Frank had eight kills to help DuBois Central Catholic pick up a 3-0 (25-14, 25-15, 25-13) win over Ridgway.

Lydia Morgan and Kayley Risser each added seven kills for the Lady Cardinals while Emma Elensky had six kills.

KARNS CITY, Pa. – On the road, Cranberry turned to Ayanna Ferringer to pick up a 3-1 (25-10, 26-25, 25-19, 25-23) win over Karns City.

Ferringer had a monster night with 27 kills, 15 digs, six blocks, and two aces.

Lexi Reisinger added six kills, four digs, and two aces for the Berries who also got eight digs apiece from Reyna Watson and Avery Coe.

Allie Rembold ran the offense for Cranberry with 22 set assists.

Ava Fox had nine kills, 12 digs, and four blocks for Karns City with Cayley Craig adding eight kills and two digs and Nicole Taylor 10 digs and two aces.

Ashley Mauer ran the offense for the Lady Gremlins with 16 set assists and also contributed eight digs.

NORTHERN POTTER 3, SMEHPORT 0

ULYSSES, Pa. – Haylee Champman had seven kills, four digs, three aces, and a block to help Northern Potter to a 3-0 (25-14, 25-10, 25-12) home win over Smethport.

Kayla Hyde added three kills, three aces, and five set assists for the Lady Panthers, and Kayden Brown had three aces, seven digs, four set assists, and a kill.

Elizabeth Hungiville had five kills, three blocks, two digs, and an ace for Smethport with Madison Faes adding 10 set assists and three digs.

SHEFFIELD 3, BROCKWAY 1

BROCKWAY, Pa. – Sheffield took down homestanding Brockway, 3-1 (25-19, 25-17, 22-25, 25-20) behind 15 kills, 25 digs, and six blocks from Kassidy Orinko.

Emily Davidson added 12 kills and 23 digs for the Lady Wolverines while Kadence Steffan ran the offense with 33 set assists.

Sophia Schmader had 11 kills for Brockway while Lauren Rendos added six kills and nine digs and Kalina Powell added 37 digs.

Meeca Smith ran the offense for the Lady Rovers with 19 set assists while adding four digs.

MONITEAU 3, VENANGO CATHOLIC 0

OIL CITY, Pa. – Abbey Jewart had eight aces, three kills, and 12 set assists to lead Moniteau to a 3-0 (25-10, 25-15, 25-5).

Lily Staab added seven aces and three kills for the Lady Warriors.

NORTH EAST 3, FORT LEBOEUF 0

WATERFORD, Pa. – North East hit the road and came home with a 3-0 (25-23, 25-16, 27-25) win over Fort LeBoeuf thanks to 18 kills and nine digs from Cadence Jones.

Kayla Forsythe added 13 kills with Briell King leading the defense with 18 digs and Anna Swan adding 11 digs.

Grace Sanfilippo ran the offense for the Grape Pickers with 32 set assists and also added six digs.

Katelynn Olmstead led Fort LeBouef with 10 kills and six digs while Mya Stoyer added six kills.

Bella Johnson had a team-best nine digs for the Bison with Tessa Bliss and Kiernan Skelton running the offense with eight set assists each. Bliss also had two digs.

JAMESTOWN 3, FARRELL 0

JAMESTOWN, Pa. – Sophia Hart had nine kills, seven digs, and three blocks to help Jamestown sweep visiting Farrell, 3-0 (25-21, 25-19, 25-13).

Alayna Cadman added five kills and two digs for the Muskies while Hannah Hart had six kills and five digs.

Emily Enterline ran the Jamestown offense with nine set assists and also had three digs, and Madily Enterline had five digs and two aces.

GROVE CITY 3, GENERAL MCLANE 1

EDINBORO, Pa. – Makayla Northcutt had 13 kills and seven digs to help visiting Grove City to a 3-1 (25-10, 20-25, 25-21, 25-11) win over General McLane.

Kylie Mahaffey added nine kills for the Eagles with Abby Berry and Addi Daniels each contributing six kills and Reagan Fischer five kills.

Berry ran the offense with 26 set assists and also chipped in eight digs while Brynna Miller had 14 digs.

Cassidy Swan paced General McLane with 10 kills and three blocks, Ellah Beachly had 14 digs, Eva Kyanvash added 11 digs and an ace, Ella Sturgess had three kills and three blocks, and Anna Topel contributed four kills.

Morgan Frick and Pacey Moran ran the offense for the Lancers with Frick picking up 10 set assists to go with five digs and two aces and Moran chipping in with nine set assists and nine digs.

KANE 3, BRADFORD 0

BRADFORD, Pa. – Mia Anderson had 13 kills and three blocks to lift Kane to a 3-0 (25-18, 25-21, 25-16) road win over Bradford.

Maya Smith led the Lady Wolves on defense with 21 digs while adding five aces and five kills, and Leah Tigani chipped in 18 digs.

Elizabeth Yasurek ran the Kane offense with 25 set assists.

MEADVILLE 3, MCDOWELL 0

ERIE, Pa. – Emma Parks had 15 kills to help Meadville pick up a 3-0 (25-12, 25-22, 25-8) road win over McDowell.

Sydney Holt added nine kills, while Kendall Mealy had 20 digs for the Bulldogs.

Elliott Schleicher ran the Meadville offense with 23 set assists.

WEST BRANCH 3, CURWENSVILLE 0

CURWENSVILLE, Pa. – The state’s top-ranked Class 1A team was too much for Curwensville to handle, as visiting West Branch swept the Lady Tide, 3-0 (25-8, 25-5, 25-15).

Brooklyn Price recorded a pair of kills for Curwensville and also had five digs while Ava Olosky chipped in two blocks.

BEDFORD 3, CLEARFIELD 1

BEDFORD, Pa. – Sam Capolong had 10 kills and 20 digs but it wasn’t enough for Clearfield in a 3-1 (25-22, 23-25, 25-18, 25-18).

Addy Ruiz added eight kills and 21 digs for the Lady Bison who also got eight kills, 23 digs, and three blocks from Gabby Henry.

Hannah Glunt ran the offense for Clearfield with 30 set assists.

REYNOLDS 3, OIL CITY 0

OIL CITY, Pa. – Visiting Reynolds swept Oil City, 3-0 (25-19, 25-11, 25-20) behind seven kills, 11 digs, and two aces from Rylee Gearthart.

Ava Murcko chipped in four kills and five digs for the Raiders with Kylie McAdoo getting 15 digs.

Annie Loposky ran the Reynolds’s offense with 14 set assists and contributed 12 digs, three kills, and three blocks.

Nicki Petro had six kills and five digs for Oil City with Adrianna Cochran adding five kills and Chayse Skinner 13 set assists.

CATHEDRAL PREP 3, HICKORY 0

ERIE, Pa. – Cathedral Prep swept visiting Hickory, 3-0 (25-21, 25- 21, 25-15) behind six kills and five aces from Coco Speros.

Olivia Hutchinson had a team-best 12 kills for the Ramblers while Carolina Krahe added five kills and Mackenzie Moore six aces and six digs.

Kamryn Resurreccion ran the offense for Cathedral Prep with 27 set assists.

SHARON 3, WILMINGTON 1

SHARON, Pa. – Ondrea Young and Kylee Hasan combined for 27 kills to lead Sharon to a 3-1 (25-7, 25-12, 23-25, 25-15) win over visiting Wilmington.

Young had 14 kills and Hasan added 13 kills in the victory.

Kylie Weirick led the Tiger defense with 16 digs while Tay Chester chipped in nine kills and five digs.

Jamoria Crumby ran the offense for Sharon with 38 set assists and also added eight digs.
